Pre-trip Notes 2013 Version (long)

Well it's time for another Vegas trip, so as I have done many times before here are my voluminous trip notes for your enjoyment.

For those that don't know me I'm a coupon user and promo chaser, red-chip BJ and quarter VP player. Most of my meals cost $10 or less per person before drink, tax & tip.

Before my last trip in 2012, I decided to forego posting my notes on the board. Well 2 days before the trip my computer crashed, and due to the high cost of repair vs replacement and the timeframe, I'm afraid the notes were completely lost. Never again!

So anyways, what I do is after booking a trip, I catch up on trip reports, and look for promos and other things that catch my attention, or are new (to me). I type them all up, and organize them by casino. They start with downtown, then Strip, then off-Strip.

This will be my longest trip in quite some time - 8 nights, all comped downtown. Paying for 1/2 the flight using points, and cheap return. Rental car for the whole trip is down to around $150.

My new job in 2012 has allowed me to increase my budget somewhat, but $2k in recent dental work has "eaten" into it for this trip. I played a bit more $1 level VP the last few trips, and hope to do so again.

I'm looking forward to the meet-up at MSS next Sunday, and hope there's a good turn out.

For $7.99 lunch, the Palms buffet is best value in town. Rode the new shuttle from Palms to Caesars Forum Shops that started 4 months ago. It's a ritual for my crew to hit up Battista's upon arrival. Never have seen a coupon though.

Just one thing about your notes: From what I've read, Lynyrd Skynyrd's in Excalibur is closed. Perhaps someone else can confirm or refute this claim?

It's iffy that I will even hit the Ex this time around, the only reason in the past was to run a set of Wincards chips. Still, as a Southern rock fan I was thinking LS's would have made it worth a stop.

I took a look at the Ex website & couldn't find it listed, so maybe it has been wamboozled.

Double-checked on the ACG site & it's verified. Gonzo. Too bad, one less reason to hit the Strip.
