I see that most of the shows begin at 6 pm or later.

What is there to do during the day for ppl who aren't into gambling?

Are there early afternoon shows that I am just not finding?

Thanks for the info and link. There is not many afternoon shows and they are all late afternoon shows.

What do ppl do in between breakfast and 3 pm? Is it mostly just gambling or shopping?

A very nice diversion if you have a car is to drive thru the Red Rock Canyon which is the mountains you see behind Caesars Palace. Drive up the Strip past the Stratosphere Tower and turn left on Charleston Blvd. Follow Charleston about 15 miles until you come to the entrance to Red Rock Canyon. There is a 13 mile loop road that meanders thru the mountains and there is some beautiful scenery there. You will also be right at Red Rock Casino if you havent seen it. Its a beautiful casino.

A longer trip would be the 50 mile drive to the Valley of Fire. Head North on I-15 toward Utah. Follow the signs to the VoF. More amazing scenery. Allow 4-5 hours for that trek.

well many spend hours around the pool during daytime, in vegas most people go to bed very late so early am is like a ghost town except for the joggers

lots of sightseeing to be done during the day , aquarium, secret garden, wildlife habitat, conservatory.....

Spa appointments, visit the gym at your hotel, take a pole-dancing or other class, run the Strip a few times, shop, enjoy the art at City Center, shoot automatic weapons at a gun range, run the Lake Mead Railroad Tunnel trail, go to the pool (in season), sleep in and have a leisurely brunch, drink mimosas...

    Enjoy!

I whole heartedly agree with this. We did Red Rock last april, and then we did Valley of Fire in november. I also preferred VoF. There is also Hoover Dam to see. Just wandering out there you can kill a few hours. Take a day trip out to the M Resort- place is stunning inside, and get yourself lunch in their buffet which constantly ranks as one of Vegas' best.

There are a ton of sight seeing opportunities for cheap or free that you can do during the day. Don't forget Hoover dam and for a longer trip grand canyon as well.

There are so many places to eat, drink, and take in the sights...
Or my personal favorite - seek respite from all of that & relax at Qua spa.

Thank you all for the great ideas and info. Especially the "blow and hookers" hahahahahahaha good one. That's always a good way to kill a few hours I guess.

I would love to go see the Grand Canyon. Is that something you can do in a day and come back to Vegas the same day?

Same thing with the Hoover Dam...It's close by?

Can I ask...where are those things? Where are they located? Near the strip? Is the Aquarium inside a hotel?

The aquarium is in Mandalay Bay, the Secret Garden is at the Mirage, the wildlife habitat is at Flamingo, the conservatory is at Bellagio.

    TONS to do

We just like to walk and gawk. We like walking around the Bellagio fountains, going inside Bellagio to look at the gardens and see the World's Biggest Chocolate Fountain, get a coffee and pastry at one of those wonderful shops, wander around Caesars looking at all the statuary and scenery in the casinos there, walk around the Forum Shops, wander around the Venetian and Paris, maybe go up the Eiffel Tower, take a tram up to Luxor and wander around there, walk north and compare the ridiculous low-budgetness of the Circus Circus compared with the opulence of Wynn....... basically just walk and walk and look at everything and do a lot of people watching. We hardly gamble at all, maybe we'll throw ten bucks into a slot machine now and then just for a sit-down rest and a free cocktail. We eat a lot and then walk it off. Just wear comfortable shoes. A lot of people spend hardly any time in their room but on our vacation we like to sleep a lot and enjoy each other in our room a lot  We like a room with a view for this reason. Also spending time around the pool is wonderful. We rarely get a car, and we can easily enjoy three or four days around Vegas. Have a great time!

If you have a car, Hoover is about a 40 minute trip from the Strip.

Otherwise, there are plenty of tour operators that run bus sightseeing trips to the dam & also the Grand Canyon.

At 2 pm on Thursday Sam's Town has a FREE show called Toast of the Town which is different every week, a variety show like the old days. Mostly an older crowd and the music matches the era before rock and roll most of the time. I've seen song, dance, puppets, animals, magic, comedy, acrobatics. There is a live band backing everything up. Sometimes the performers are in some current Vegas show and singing to give that show some advertisement. Often they are the second string or folks who had better reputations in other years. Or they may just be talented locals. They are always talented. The fine thing is that it is free. You can start the day with one of the most inexpensive poker tournaments in Vegas, I think it is now $23 plus $9 for the house at 10 am every morning.
http://www.samstownlv.com/play/poker-room With an American Casino Guide coupon you can get a free buffet after earning 200 points on full pay deuces or Double bonus. All of that can fill up the daytime on Thursday. It is a ways from the strip, but the uncrowded 202 Flamingo bus will get you there in 45 minutes for $2. There are also some free shuttles from the strip and from downtown at certain hours of the day. CLICK BELOW FOR A MAP:
