I know there is a thread on the change already but I wanted to start one for us to share opinions/discussions.

Their facebook page is getting blasted with complaints and many people there are not happy with the change. It's funny because people on here seem to be all for the change.

Personally I get my points by going often to Rincon, LV, and Laughlin throughout the year. As a business guy, 11k points made in two trips is equal to 11k points made in ten trips at the end of the year. Same coin-in, same house edge (assuming same game), same point system, etc.

Now with the new tier system they're banking on each individual player hitting that "risk of ruin" in order to hit that daily tier requirement or gambling more to do so. They want to reward the "big" player but at the risk of completely turning off the casual player.

I know CET went through the numbers and believes this is going to benefit them in the end, however how many of these diamond/plat players are going to completely leave CET and move onto a different program? At the end of the year they still contributed to CET's bottom line and now they might be losing these players.

Personally, I'll be 7 stars til March 2014 but this tier change now gives me a reason to try out a different casino next time I'm in Vegas since my normal play is going to be rewarded less. With it being so early in the year, I'm glad my tier score is low since it makes it easier to transition somewhere else without feeling like I'm leaving a lot behind with Total Rewards. I'll have comp rooms the rest of the year anyways :).

Just wondering where everyone thoughts are with this?

    Well...

I'm somewhere in the middle. I live near Tunica so play at the Harrahs and Horseshoe there pretty regularly-- at least a couple of times a month. I play pretty small there since its more of a regular thing so I rack up tier points at a slow and steady pace. But in Vegas I play a lot bigger so I would benefit from the tier bonuses. Overall I don't think it makes a big difference from me since I'm at both ends of the spectrum.

The bigger issue is how much less useful being Diamond has become and how much tighter comps have become overall. I know comps are tied to ADT and not tier but both comps and tier benefits are just getting worse and worse. The best thing that will happen for low and medium rollers who like being on the strip is if and when Boyd opens up a casino there.

Any time something changes, there will be people upset.

Diamond status and above were meant to be exclusive tiers, and what was happening was that was no longer the case. With all of the regional CET casinos, achieving diamond status was not that difficult for many people.

MGM changes their program so often (both publicly and privately) and is so confusing to many people, few people know exactly where they are or what benifits they are entitled too.

Whether you like the system or not, the CET total rewards system is very clear for slot and video poker players on how comps are earned, and what benifits can be expected once you obtain certain tier levels.

Personally, I don't think it's going to change things for most people. If you were making diamond in the past, obtaining an additional 4,000 points probably isn't going to prevent you from continuing to do so. In addition, with the "bonus" tier credits it may actually be easier for some to attain without altering their current gambling patterns.

It does address a few things:

    - It does reward the mid to upper tier diamonds who were not able to reach Seven Stars but still deserved additional benifits.

    - Makes both diamond and seven stars the exclusive levels they were intended to be.

    - Gives players an option with the bonus tier credits of rewarding them of a quick way to obtain higher tier levels.

I'm sure I will take heat for this but I'm happy it is going up.
There are more Diamond players than ever.Try waiting in line to get in a Diamond Lounge, I don't bother .
In AC the Diamond line at the coffee shop is often longer than the regular line.
Frankly I don't think this is going to change much but I don't think it is such a bad thing. An extra 4K a year will not reduce the Diamonds by that much.
MGM took their 1,000,000 point requirement for Noir off the table and went back to invite only.
Looks like CET is trying to move the low level Diamond players back to Platinum.

Our play at CET has dropped a bit over the years for a few reasons - MGM having nicer hotels and restaurants a big one.

Anyway, my wife used to be Diamond as well, which allowed her access to lounge without me. Did not have that this year, and I heard about it.

So, with the new plan, I will use her card on two trips, rack up 2,500 each, plus 5,000 bonus and she will be Diamond.

    So, I like that deal.

Personally, I might be be able to get to a higher level of Diamond or maybe even 7 stars, but I see too little benefit for doing that.

I like the rules for Diamond - especially if it cuts down on locals using it as their personal lounge on an almost daily basis. Sadly, we will not see the impact of that until April 2014 when the current crop of Diamonds expire.

Didn't CET try rewarding the "higher" level diamons already by implementing the whole "TR Insider" progarm last year, and before that it was the "General Managers Club" or some else. In the Midwest it was crap, I made TR insider all 4 quarters, and only found one event worth attending. The themed diamond parties marketing used to put on was way better. They have so many diamond players now, they have to split them up in to multiple sessions. I miss the Golf events and dinners.

As a high level diamond, I believe they are going to cheapen the value of being a diamond, unless they radically alter the tier benefits. I see it right now, and it stinks.

So time will tell come April, Here's whats keeping with CET for now.

    - Free rooms any dates, including some suite upgrades via Casino Sales Executive
    - Insider VIP give aways. Basically these are the gift promos they send out for higher level players. For me most of it is cr@p, so I take the 15000 reward credits if offered. I did score an iPad with shopping points this year.

The only thing appealing on the new Tiers is the companion card. It sucks not being able to take friends into the diamond lounge when in vegas, or beg a host to give up extra passes.

Here's what will drive me out, if they change the program.

    - Take away the free rooms, if I have to pay for a room, MGM and other properties have much nicer hotels.

    - Too many diamonds extending wait time in priority lines, I absolutely hate waiting in some of these lines I see in vegas, because the casino is understaffing.

    - Reductions in discretional comps. If I bump up my play on a trip, I expect the casino to adjust my comps accordingly. Otherwise I am going to spread that play around.

    - Further reduction in promotional offerings and free play. If the offers becomre crap, I will take my money to better odd casinos and games.

I like the new system. I'm one of those people who doesn't get to visit a CET property all that often, being I'm a 6 hour drive to Atlantic City & a 5 hour plane ride to Vegas. When I am there, I average 1,800- 2,500 TC's per day. The bonus perks will really be to my advantage. I finished the year just over 40,000 TC's. With the new system and a few extra trips to CET's new Horseshoe Casino in near by Cleveland, I may hit the high level 3 Diamond this coming year. :licklips:

I love it, absolutely love it! I make probably 2-3 trips to CET properties each year with only 3-4 days per trip, and don't have any local CET properties nearby. I made diamond last year, but barely...like 11.5K tier points on a couple trips. Under the new program, I would be well over 20K points. I usually accumulate anywhere from 1500 - 4500 points in a day, so the bonuses will help me greatly. Now if they would only learn out to more fairly reward table players I would be set!

I know there are some comments that think this will cheapen the diamond pool, but I disagree. I think some of the locals who barely made 11K each year, will struggle to get to 15K. The less frequent visitors like me, who have a higher theo and should have been rewarded all along, will become diamonds. You won't see us nearly as often. The mad rush for hot chicken wings should decrease. I think what you will see is a diamond pool with an ADT that should increase over time. I like where this is going...

I'm a bit ambivalent about it. I've been a high Diamond for several years now. This pas year I barely made it over the 100,000 tier level for a Seven Star. Now I will have to make 150,000. I play in Atlantic City about 5 or 6 weekends a year plus one or two 5/ night Vegas trips. According to the calculation on last year's play I will still make it over the 150,000 mark. I've only been to the casino once since I made Seven Star. The Diamond lines are long at the Diamond Lounge. I couldn't bring myself to walk to the front of that line even though it says I could. I think that most Diamonds will repeat and new lots of new ones that will make 15,000 points with the bonus system, thereby making the long lines even longer. I am happy the higher Diamonds get some extra benefits. The distance from Diamond to Seven Stars is huge with barely anything except the Insider, which I don't think is much of a benefit. I went to one a few prizes and drinks and snacks that I can get in the Diamond Lounge is not a big benefit.

It will be a benefit to me but only because Platinum actually gets something in Vegas. They could take all the chip cashing and line perks away though. I barely got it this year just because I had a nice run at Caesars on my last trip. With the bonus points I can just focus on a few days and easily get it.

I still doubt I will go up to Diamond but that has more to do with me never getting 2500 points in a day. I'm sure I'll get a few 1000 pt days, but not much higher.

Anyone know if you need to earn all the points in just 1 casino on 1 day to get the bonus points?

I am on the fence until the other shoe drops. I am a Platinum and made the decision not to try and earn Diamond anymore a long time ago. If the few perks Platinums get in Vegas go away, I won't try for Platinum anymore. It's already worthless outside of Vegas.

I would guess. I do quite a few 2,500 days. My last Vegas trip out of six days I had all days over 2,500, three were over 4,000. Last year I hit 104,000 points. Based on my play they calculated that I would get 191,000 under the new system.

I have done DIAD twice and alternate between Diamond and Platinum status. I like the idea of getting full Diamond status for 2 days of $25,000 coin-in at VP under the new system.

I'm one of those locals who just squeaked into Diamond last year because of frequency to the casino and not because of my theo. I won't be returning to Diamond after 3/2014. But I do like that Platinum will increase too because I know 5000 point is easy for someone like me, but for all those who squeaked into platinum will remain gold. So for the same reasons higher diamond club members like the new tiers, a higher platinum player like me likes it too.

I'm planning a 2500 point gaming day next trip and have two major concerns. Any thoughts or facts on either of them???

One: if I do it, how sure can I be these bonus tier points actually post? Do I need to do anything and has anyone had a day where they are certain they got the bonus credits so far? I went to a local Harrahs joint but didn't get up to 500 so I did keep close track though it proved fruitless.

Second: if I earn 7500 tier credits via 2500 + 5000 then proceed to grind out the other points required for diamond, will these behave normally and get me diamond until march 2015? Before you rush to answer, I ask because DIAD would only give you till march 2014 if earned this year.

The one fact I have to share in exchange for your time is I've confirmed DIAD is alive, well, and up to 5000 this year.

    Thanks!

Good question, similar situation happened to me in 2008, i fell short of diamond, earned it in q1 2009 DIAD, and then proceeded rack up 30000 Tier Credits, which locked me into 2009 and 2010
Maybe that is how CET justifies granting DIAD status with heavy play one day.

I would think that you would be making diamond status based on two required achievement levels, much like the new sub tiers.

-DIAD for current 12 months earns you current year status (As if you made it in 2012)
    - 15000 points (Bonus + earned) applies toward 2014 - 2015 period also. CET always gifted you current year and next earning period you achieved status. However with the unannounced changes to Tiers due in April all bets are off.

The bonus tier credits post about 2 days after the tier credits are earned. I played on Sunday and the tier credits were there when I got home, the bonus tier credits posted yesterday.

Yes, if you earn the credits needed for Diamond by reaching 15,000, you are Diamond through 03/2015. That's why it is wiser to do 2 days of 2500 TC's instead of 1 day of 5000.

BTW, my feeling is that these tier credit bonuses won't last more than a year or two...it is going to make for more Diamonds and Seven Stars...and ultimately CET wants to thin the herd of heavily comped players, not encourage them. I already have 9200 credits and I've only been in a CET casino for about 2 hrs so far this year. So work it while you can.
