    My Trip Report

We're getting all our notes together to start posting our trip report.

Returned from a post-New Year visit to our favorite city.

Highlights will include lots of slot play (of course), many mentions of cocktails :wink2:, a Palazzo Prestige stay, more mentions of cocktails :wink2:, Grimaldi's Pizzeria, Bouchon breakfast delights, Wynn's Parasol Up goodness, the husband's new-found love of the Cheers slot and so much more.

I'm working on it now and plan to get some up by this evening.

And remember...if Plan A doesn't work in Vegas, the alphabet always has 25 more letters.

    A through D is a start...

[IMG] is for Aladdin slots, Alcohol and Arguing with servers.

First Aladdin...The slot had vibrating and motion-active seats,
lots of fun bonuses and excellent cocktail service at the Wynn.
    Yes, it's a penny slot.
Lowest bet per spin was 40c. No need to bet max in order to get
bonuses unless you want to try for the BIG jackpot progressive.
I believe it was over $700,000 while we were playing.
Did I mention the vibrating seats? :evillaugh
I turned mine down to low and slow but hub had it up full blast.

Hmmmm...what's that all about? :wink2: Was up and down for a
while and then moved on after we decided we'd had enough time
on the chairs without stumbling when we got out of our seats.
    :drunk:

    Alcohol...wow.
Between the Prestige Lounge at Palazzo and Wynn's
Parasol Up Bar, we were feeling good thoughout our stay.
Lots of Manhattans and Pear-A-Sols for the hub and Vodka
Collins and White Cosmos for me.
Wynn's floor cocktail service was as good as ever too.
I made sure to check in case anyone was interested on the board.
Those rum and cokes were enjoyed in the name of research, I tell ya.
It was a good thing too...because the casino floor cocktail service
was almost non-existent at both Venetian/Palazzo while we were there.
Alas, we somehow managed to keep a nice mellow buzz going throughout
    our stay.
    Life's rough sometimes.

Arguing with servers. I don't know what was up with many Vegas
visitors this trip but it seemed everywhere we went somebody would
    give a restaurant/bar server a difficult time.
While at Bouchon for breakfast, a couple demanded to see the
manager because the husband didn't believe his favorite pastry couldn't
be made for him on demand. I won't bore you with the details except to
say they gave him a perfectly reasonable explanation and he still wanted
to know why someone couldn't make him what he wanted NOW.
Then he dismissed both the waiter and the manager as if they were
some type of lowly servants. Ugh.
Loved the Bouchon breakfast, though. I'll get to that at B.

More arguing happened on the Venetian casino floor when a
    woman allowed her had-to-be-no-older-than-7-year-old
play the slot machine she was sitting at.
When a security person finally noticed, she ignored him until he brought
what I assume to be his supervisor over, to explain why children weren't
allowed to play the slots. Really? Really? You didn't know that, lady?
    :rolleyes2:
Another instance at the Parasol Up Bar. A couple sat down a few seats
away from us and told the server they wanted to order some food.
She politely explained that they don't serve food (except for the
seasoned nuts and potato chips to snack on) and began to suggest
other options for eating at Wynn. The man started to get all
red and began to :grrr: and said he was never coming back to this
place again! I guess he showed them!

    B is for[IMG]
    Mario Batali's restaurants scattered everywhere
    thoughout the Venetian/Palazzo properties.
He's a great chef and makes great food and must make
gazillions from his Vegas restaurants alone.

But his B is here mostly because I forgot to take
a picture while at Bouchon for breakfast.I guess I was
too pre-occupied with the yumminess of my meal
    and the entertaining surroundings.
    And my husband too.
He had the breakfast jardiniere, with eggs,
expertly prepared spinach and roasted garlic
    and lyonnaise potatoes.
It also came with a pastry of your choice
(but not to order off-menu at your demand, dammit!).
Hub had the cheese danish and it was fantastic. Melt in your mouth yum.
I had the steel cut oatmeal with peach preserves and brown sugar.
Mostly because I wanted a baguette with cream cheese. So I got
    that too. :ssst:
Service was great. Coffee strong but smooth. Just the way I like it.
A great start to a Vegas morning. Even if it was almost noon.
    Shut up.

B is also for the new Beverly Hillbillies slot because it looked
like it had potential for a lot of fun play.
    The bonuses seemed fun, anyway.
I didn't get to experience much of that because pesky people
were always sitting where I wanted to sit.
Yes, it's another penny slot with a 40c minimum bet. Unless
you want to bet max for higher payouts and
    a possible ginormous progressive.
But not me. I play for the research. :wink2:

C is for [IMG] The slot machine.
We saw this at Venetian and played for quite a bit on a $20 or two.
When we find new slots we like to try them out for the novelty
of the bonuses and to see how the payouts work. I start with a
minimum bet and work from there. Depending on how nice
    it's being to me.
Husband got this pretty little payout for
    a 35c minimum bet. [IMG]
Not bad. Not life-changing. But fun.

D is for [IMG] Emeril's Delmonico Steakhouse and also for
    [IMG]
Dior, both located in the Venetian/Palazzo shops and restaurant row.
Pretty to look at but we didn't do much fine dining this trip.
D is also for dammit, I didn't do much planning for this letter,
so I guess I'll move on to the rest of the alphabet before all one of the
remaining readers of this installment falls asleep. :faint:

    I'll be back.

    E is for <[IMG]
    of course.
It was another penny slot with lots of splashy bells and whistles.
But it was always full and I never got a seat and the King
wasn't calling to me to play like some do, so I moved on.

It's also for European Winter Displays.
    Lots and lots of them
at Venetian/Palazzo. Pretty. Both inside and out.

And Eating. We did a lot of that too.
From fantastic pizza for lunch at Grimaldi's, to a late-night dinner at
Grand Lux and a quick bite at I Heart Burgers.
We also tried out the happy hour at the Palazzo Prestige Lounge.
Nice offerings and good cocktail service. It was a limited bar but
you could order the basics and get yourself a nice buzz-on while
enjoying the surroundings. The lounge faced Treasure Island
and the Sirens show was starting up out in front of the hotel.
Saw the fireworks shoot up into the night sky and it was sweet
seeing it from that vantage point.

F is for Freeplay. Had some left over at Wynn and
hub managed to turn it into a nice amount of cash playing
video poker. We're pretty sure we'll be doing it old school
next trip by visiting Main Street Station in March, so we
didn't want to leave the free play just sitting there without
anything to do  til we get back in June.

F is also for a great view of the Fairways on the Wynn golf course.
We had a Palazzo suite on the 24th floor, facing the waterfall area
    of the course.
Just beyond we could see the lights of the city and the mountains too.
Each night we pulled up a chair and sat by the window sipping a
bourbon while soaking in the view. :woot:

[IMG] is for the Grease slot. At the Venetian, it was set up with
the Greased Lighting 50's car display and the slots surrounding it.
Sandy called to me for a minute, so I gave in and played.

    Eh. It was okay.
If you got a bonus it was fun. I found them to be few and
    far between. I believe it's 60c a spin from what I recall.
Threw in a twenty and it was just about gone when I hit
[IMG] for $23 and got out of there.
Had a lot better luck with them last June when hub and I played
them together at Encore. He hit for a mini progressive of $167.
And no, we don't throw hundreds into a slot trying to win big. :peace:
We throw twenties into a slot, trying to get some nice drinks and
    win mid-range. Works for me.

G is also for Grimaldi's Pizzeria at Palazzo.
I've been to the one in Brooklyn, NY several times and I'll tell you
they've got it so close to the original I was having a foodgasm
or two while eating. :faint:
Just delicious. We got half pepperoni and shared a house
salad. Not that I don't love pepperoni and Grimaldi's
has excellent pepperoni...I just felt like eating a few
slices of my favorite pizza without any frills. And I'm happy I did.

And G is for Goldfish slots.
This version was Goldfish-Race for the Gold, I believe.
40c a minimum spin and you can win mini-progressives based
on your bet. No need to bet max unless you want to try
for a bigger pot based on the size of your bet.
It was late at night and I was playing while waiting for hubster
to come round looking for me.
He showed up just in time for a race to begin.
There were 4 different fish in the race and each had an amount
you could win if any or all reached the finish line.
I began picking shells to uncover how many moves the fishies
would take. At the time, I didn't know you could win more
than one prize. Hub pointed that out to me as I played.
I was lucky enough to get ALL MOVE a few times while choosing,
so they all inched toward my financial reward.
Except Goldie, the top prize of course. Bitch.

Anyway, I picked a good one and got the final ALL MOVE
and 3 of the fishies crossed the finish line for incrimental
amounts of $9, $44, and $117. I won all three.
    Yay me!
The top prize was a little over $700 but Goldie wasn't feeling the
love toward me so she decided not to cross the line. Fine.
I was tired anyway and my lucky charm hubby and I retired
to our suite for the night.

H is for Hors d'oeuvres. Plenty of them at the lounge.
Many people were taking the opportunity to have a light dinner this
way. We were more curious to see what they had to offer in the
way of cocktails. For research purposes, my friends. We do this
for you. The happy hour is included in the price of
a Prestige stay at Palazzo. I believe it's $100 over the cost of
a stay in one of the suites, so came to about $249 a day with tax.
We were given this trip as a gift by good friends, so the
desire to get a big bang for our buck wasn't there as much
as if we had paid for it on our own.
Although, I could see someone getting the benefit out of this
offer by eating breakfast and dinner at the lounge, as well as
snacks offered throughout the day. And the drinks of course.

It's also for I HEART Burgers. Located in the Palazzo
    shoppes upper-level area.

    I think.
It was late at night and I was tired. But more hungry
than tired. You know how it is.

    Here's [IMG]
a picture of the weird astro-turfy, framed televisions
along the walls of the restaurant.

Hmmm... Glad I had hubby take a pic.
My memory was fuzzy on that one.

Okay folks. E through I, just as promised.
Hey, I was in I Heart Burgers.
So don't give me a hard time.

Next will be J through O.
But only if you're good and eat all your vegetables.

    Later, tater.

    Thanks, sco.
It's tougher than I thought it was going to be... and I'm not a quitter... but it seemed like a good idea at the time.
(All of the above were mashed together as excuses for anything we might do during a Vegas visit.)

Oh well. More in a bit.

    J is for
    [IMG]
Michael Jackson. the King of Pop.

This was another penny slot very much like the Elvis one but
with Jacko as the star. Didn't get to play but wasn't all that
    sad I couldn't.

    So now we arrive at
    [IMG]
    for KISS slots.

Another meh of a penny slot. Probably fun for those who love the
band and/or get some nice bonuses but I don't fit into either
    category.

The picture is kind of lame I know but if you love those guys,
then you can see one of the band members calling to you
with those pouty lips, waiting for you to play.
All I can say is he wasn't very nice to me so I moved on.
Put in a twenty and got $7 back.
My fault for trusting him but at least I left with a little dignity
    intact.

Well, okay. At least I left with seven dollars. :Þ

Another one where I believe you'd have to be a big
fan of the theme or win early on in your play.

Now onto a slot I really enjoyed!

    KNIGHT OF LA MANCHA

Fun bonuses, fun graphics, lots of different little quirky elements
to keep you entertained and all for $1.50 as max spin.
There's a big progressive too but I forget what the amount was.
Something in the hundred thousands at the time.

I started out with 50c a spin but quickly received many decent
pays per spin with several bonuses, so I bumped it up to $1.50 here
and there. You've got to get wild and crazy once in a while.
Probably my favorite slot of the trip. I didn't even know he
existed in this form, as I do a little research before going to Vegas
to see what's out there in the way of new games.

I hit for over $200 before I left that game and had put in $40 because
I wanted to see what it had to offer in the way of bonuses.

For anyone out there who enjoys playing slots with fun themes and
a chance at nice pays, you might want to try this one.

    Good times.

Now onto L for exclaiming my
    [IMG]OVE...love...
    [IMG]OVE for LAS VEGAS!!!

Hey. It took a [IMG]OOOOONG time for
me to edit these less than stellar pictures, so I'm posting 'em. :wink2:

M is for Martinis, Manhattans and Moonrises.

I forgot pictures of those, and you are all spared another display of my artwork. Try not to be too sad.

However, I would like to mention that the moon rising over the mountains as we sat gazing out our window was
a marvelous thing to behold.

Sorry, folks. They can't all be gems. :evillaugh

N is for other slot pictures we took with the letter [IMG] somewhere in the title.

    Like [IMG] I believe that's
    the newer, Diamond version.

and [IMG] Pretty sure this is the newer version
of the Price Is Right themed slots.

Not sure if these titles have started to run their course in
slot player interest but they were almost
always empty whenever I'd walk by.
Didn't call out to me either.
They were located at Venetian/Palazzo casinos.

Oh, and N is also for wishing a HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you. :wave2:

    We are at O now.

    This report is almost over.
Only a handful of letters left after this. So stick an olive
in your martini and let's get on with it.
But I'm tired now and this report is kicking my arse.

Only thing to do is sign off til next time, when we finally meet up with the letters P through Z.

Loved your trip report, cute and clever, looking forward to P-Z!

Funny how slot play can be so different among players. I played KNIGHT OF LA MANCHA at Palazzo in mid-December and ran a hundred through it with little excitement to show for it so wrote it off. :)

BTW, I love the new Beverly Hillbillies slot but of course that's because both in November and December I hit the silver and gold progressives twice. Hoping they don't remove this one before my next trip in February.

Happy New Year to you too, wishing you lots of fun and luck for 2013!

Thanks, carve. Your acknowledgement of our selflessness is
    appreciation enough. :wink2:
By the way, how's your kitty-cat doing?
    Hope all is well.

It sure was. But more fun than work. Thanks, Blonde.

You're most welcome, LaRae. Glad to hear you're enjoying the report.

I know what you mean, evoni. Slots are a very subjective and selective thing for those of us who like to play them.

I'm looking forward to trying the Beverly Hillbillies when a seat is
finally available for me to really try it out. The bonuses look like a lot of fun and the possibility of winning a little bit along the way looks pretty decent.

Try giving La Mancha another chance.
I really like the way they incorporated a way to get back into
a bonus round by the player picking between La Mancha and his little friend.
I was able to accumulate a nice little bit by making the right pick
during my session of playing. Of course it's all about chance and
luck and the RNG...we know that.
But if the stars align and it's
a lucky night, some great things can happen.

Wishing you continued luck and good fortune in the new year as well.

I'll finish working on the report and get it done by tomorrow.

Ardee, I will give La Mancha another chance next month. I was fairly unlucky in December with my slot play so it could have just been me.

I'm happy to hear that Beverly Hillbillies remains popular at Venetian as that should mean they won't remove it quickly like they did with the new Mummy slot I liked.:)

Thanks Evoni. Now I know why I couldn't find Mummy in December. I hunted all through Venetian and Palazzo. Asked numerous attendants and said I knew it was there. One even said she had seen it and took me to where she thought it was. Nope, not there so she thought she had imagined it, lol. Found one on the way back in Casino Royale and won about $20 on it. Fun machine.

Glad you like the new Mummy slot, I think it's a blast to play unless the bonuses refuse to hit. :) When I asked where it had been moved to in December the slot attendant that told me it was no longer on property said it had been removed due to lack of play but I wasn't buying that explanation as since it made it's debut at Venetian it's always been busy when I've been there on trips. In addition to Casino Royale, I think there are some at Mirage still.

P is for Palazzo Prestige Package

All in all, it was a lovely gift to receive from friends.
We enjoyed the Prestige Lounge for cocktails mostly.
And it did sustain us when we became parched :wink2:
from slow to no CW service on the V/P casino floors.
I liked the 23rd floor check-in and the champagne welcome
(though I declined the offer, husband did enjoy a glass while
we spoke to the concierge and got checked in).
The lounge was located right by the check-in desk, which was
    pretty convenient too.
Would I do it again if I were picking a place to stay? Probably not.
Unless, of course, they gave us a great offer of a comped room, etc.
    Then I'd rethink it.
I enjoyed the opportunity for trying out a new hotel (new to us),
so it was fun in that way.
Suite and view were both lovely. Not too shabby.

P is also for Peacock sculptures in the Palazzo fountain
    area. Pretty.

We've also got the oft-mentioned Parasol Up as a performer
    on the P front.

My all time favorite for Pear-A-Sols, peanuts and potato chips in a
peaceful setting. Hard to believe it's located right on the Wynn casino
    floor. Perfect.

    Q is for Quality service.

I found the staff at Palazzo to be very personable and gracious whenever
    we interacted with them.
    Very helpful and welcoming.
The on-floor casino staff, not so much.
Hardly saw anyone except when they finally intervened
because of the 7yr. old playing slots with his mother :rolleyes2: :nono:.

Maybe it was due to the time of year and workers taking time
off to be with their loved ones, so I'll cut them some slack.
But it did effect my overall view of the place so I'm throwing
it in there as part of our report. :peace:

is for REALLY great Restaurant selections.

I have to give V/P kudos for that.
Many world-class food offerings mixed in
with plenty of mid-range places to appeal to just about anyone.

I'm a bit of a foodie and so is my other half...and what better place
to explore and be adventurous than Las Vegas and its many great
    options for dining?
We were pretty low key in that aspect this visit.
Probably because we tend to over-indulge from
Thanksgiving right on through New Year's Day, so we just didn't
have the motivation to hit up any upscale or new places for dinner this time.
But we'll be back to try some of them out soon.

S is for playing lots of Slots this trip.

We wanted to try out the new machines out there and
for the most part got a chance to play the ones we
    were interested in.
There's always next time to catch up, so I'm not too worried.
March isn't that far away. :wink2:

S is also for really weird squid picture.

Hub and I saw this as we turned the corner from our suite and
we both mentioned how it reminded us of a squid. Hmmm...
    Maybe something Freudian? :ssst:

Not the best looking piece of artwork/photography I've ever seen.
But then again, neither is the photo we snapped. :evillaugh

T is for taking the time to soak in and
    enjoy all things Vegas.

We did a pretty good job this visit. However, I think more research is necessary and requires further study to determine whether it
can be accomplished to a better degree on our next excursion.

    U is for unique.

There's nothing quite like Las Vegas and it is truly one of my top 5 favorite
places to visit because of all it has to offer. I'll never get tired of this
    great town. :nworthy:

V is for a Very nice property. I'm glad we went and enjoyed our time there. I give the Venetian/Palazzo properties and our stay there a B+.

is for winding down this report.
We're getting close to the end, my friends, so I'll mention another slot
that I hoped was going to be lots of fun but ended up just "meh" for me.

Wicked Witch of the West slot. Another version of the many Wizard of Oz slots out there.

I had hoped it would give some entertainment bang for my buck but it
wasn't what I had hoped for while playing.
Took too long to get into a bonus and it just didn't seem as fun as some of the others I've mentioned throughout this report.
But as all slot players know, opinions will vary.
    I thought I took a couple of pictures when I won $167 on a 80c spin but
I couldn't find them. Oh well.

is for eXtreme bundling up by people everywhere.
Everybody looked like they were dressed for an expedition to the
Alaskan Tundra or a ski resort...or somewhere very, very cold.
I can understand being prepared, as the weather was unseasonably
chilly for a Las Vegas winter...but lordy.

So many scarves, mittens...big puffy coats...furry hats and layers upon
layers of winter finery. And this was while sitting at slots, bars and restaurants too.
I understand how many people like to walk from property to
property and they want to be warm when outside... but the
hotels had the heat cranked up pretty high. I would have been
    melting in all that outerwear.
But I'm originally from New England so what do I know? :evillaugh

    is for Yahtzee slots.

Another boring and disappointing slot in my opinion.
A penny slot with little to offer in the way of
entertainment and fun. I didn't see anyone
playing it this visit. I'm sure somebody out there likes it.
I do enjoy the original home game, though.

And finally, my friends, we arrive at

Husband reminded me to mention that we didn't sleep well on
the PalaZZo bed. We both woke up frequently throughout
the night trying to get comfortable. I think it was a Posturepedic
bed but I'm not entirely sure of that.

Hope you didn't have to catch a few ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzs while trying to make it through this report.

I had fun doing it but I think husband wants to write up our next adventure
for all you good people. I wonder why?

    Til next time...:blowkiss:
