I know there was talk about Noir going back to invite only........but I thought I had a year left of being Noir. I had 3.5 million tier credits before they reset it to zero. I haven't been playing as much the past few months but have gained 250,00 tier credits since the reset. I don't get much freeplay from them anymore anyway and might spread out my play more. It's not a big deal but I guess my multiplier on my points has gone down. Express comps were cut in half for everyone and it seems it's only getting worse.

If you had over 3 million tier points on September 30th, 2012 then you should still be NOIR until September of 2013. If you did and are now showing Platinum level on your account I would suggest calling up VIP services or the player's club desk and inquiring into it. I'm still NOIR level and I only had about a million and a half when they erased the points.

Thanks, maybe I'll call VP services. I asked at the Aria Players club and they said......."it looks like they dropped you". I asked why and they didn't have an answer.

Were most of your credits from resort spend rather than gaming? If so, maybe they're trying to make Noir for big players rather than big spenders in general...

But who knows...MGM doesn't seem to do things rationally these days.

All of my tier credits were from gambling. My theo is probably low since I'm a local and gamble almost every day.

I had about 1.5 million tier points on Sept. 30, 2012 and about 2 days ago when I check I was still Noir and just today they dropped me to platium. I am not a Vegas local. 1.5 m tier points was all from playing slot. (3 times 3 day trips)

If you plan on going to Vegas this year and want the perk of the limo and alleged extra points from NOIR, I would be doing some complaining. :) NOIR was suppose to be grandfathered in until September 2013 without the invite for those who had over a million points on September 30th, 2012.

FWIW, I just checked again and I'm still NOIR.

I had over 1 mil tier credits on sept 30th and my level is still Noir, I have 1 card that shows March 2013 exp date and I have another one somewhere in my car that shows Sept 2013 exp date. I was told by the MLife players club desk at MB that I will stay Noir until Sept 30th, 2013 and then my host would be the one to see if I stay at that level.

My friend who was also Noir called me yesterday to tell me he dropped from noir to platinum. He wasn't sure when the last time he had over 1 mil tier credits was. So I guess some people are getting dropped earlier then they are supposed to.

Why are high dollar slot players sticking with mlife? :confused2:

Seems like people playing millions of tier credits on slots at mlife could be getting treated like f'ing KINGS and QUEENS at Wynncore or V/P which are actually nicer properties.

Do the machines have a way lower hold at MGM or something?

Here are the 2 cards with different expiration dates on them, the weird thing is that the one that expires in sept 2013 has my name on it but it is a different players card number then my usual card.

I had dropped a few thousand at V/P and all have been getting is free rooms, maybe $100 food. MGM gives me suites, lots of freeplay, some food and EC.

Oh yea... I play at Gold Strike and Beau Rivage alot as well.

    I'm still Noir.

I had 1.4 million TCs prior to 10/1.

Since 10/1, I've taken 5 trips and earned 338,000 TCs.

We all know your feelings towards Mlife Beeejay, but there are some things that make it more attractive than other resorts in town. I could go on and on and on with the pros and cons of each loyalty club in town but I don't feel like typing until my fingers bleed. Here's some bullet points:
    - Machine hold at MGM properties is better for the high end player. 99.54% return on $5 denom and higher (nothing close at Venetian/Palazzo) with no penalty for playing a game with a lower house edge (like at Wynn). Additionally, there is a hidden factor that is even more important than house edge: theoretical loss rate. I won't go into exact detail, but some of those 99.54% machines at MGM properties are set with a theoretical loss rate of 2.0% or better (Wynn and V/P are more in-line with 0.46%). Therefore, in time, you may lose $0.46 of every $100 wagered, but receive back $0.70 in comps. Now multiply 10,000 and it becomes a factor.
    - Next, MGM averages your ADT (average daily theoretical) over the course of your trip. So if you're staying for 3 nights, your trip theo is based on the trip not per day. At CET you get heavily dinged if you have a low-play day, at MGM not so much. I wish I knew how Wynn worked, which leads me to my next point.
    - Wynn has treated me like crap. Relatively. I gave them about $200k coin-in per day my last few visits, 3 nights each. In return, I get offered a basic room and $300 freeplay. Sometimes my host bumps me up to a Tower King Room, but getting charges taken off the back-end is never easy. Maybe it's the theoretical, maybe they want higher-end VP players. I regularly see $25 denom players there. However, my theoretical and projected loss should get me more than I get. No tiers to their slot club is a drawback too.
    - Venetian is historically inconsistent with their comp policies. Like Wynn I don't think they really give a hoot about the Vegas market....Macau is where they focus their attention these days. I always have standing marketing offers from V/P, but my host never goes out of his way to give me anything but the marketing offer.
    - I'm Seven Stars at Caesars, but that's worth a lot more outside the Vegas market. In Vegas you're basically the same as Diamond. There's also no earning multiplier based on tier at CET either. The real kicker is that my host generally says no to the simplest requests including getting a second room comped up-front. This despite $2mil coin-in in the last year.
    - Lastly, the host makes a lot of difference if you play on the high-end on machines. For instance, my Aria host sets me up in a Sky Suite (corner no less) and makes sure I have primo seats for any MGM show. I know that getting charges taken off at the end won't be a big problem. Meanwhile, at Bellagio, my host is disappointing. If I'm not coming in on a marketing offer, I can't expect much more than a standard room offer from him. Perhaps if my hosts at other properties stepped up a little, I might prefer something over Aria right now. However, right now, Aria treats me the best for my gambling dollar.

Honestly, Beeejay, you could easily cultivate a good relationship with just about any resort, but the way you gamble (very heavy and then light if you're ahead) is not going to look great. Your ADT is going to vary too greatly. I always tell people not to play for comps, but you do need to keep it in mind in where and when you play. If I were you, I'd focus any heavy play to the same casino and leave all light play unrated. Remember it can take 6-12 months before any previous low-play amount clears off your record. Never use comps if you haven't put in the appropriate play.

Oh, I'm still Noir as well. 1.2mil before Sept 30th. 1.4mil since then. Perhaps they're going back to theoretical loss. Back when they started mLife and Noir was invite-only they had mentioned that Noir required $1mil coin-in or a $50k theoretical loss (that's quite a bit and certainly more than I've racked up).

CaptainJack-many thanks for that really helpful summary of the different players clubs. I have been reading a lot of the Mlife bashing that has been going on just recently and it has been making me doubt where to stay on my next couple of trips.

Last trip prior to Mlife changes I earned 160k tier credits, mainly from slots. Express comps were circa $300 and $150 point play. I appreciate I am not gambling anywhere close to your/Noir level but it does mean I am a mid Platinum when added to another trip last year. I have two trips booked for April and September of this year and my host at Aria as usual comps the three expensive weekend nights, discounts the other nights and then reviews play at the end, where she usually knocks off around another $150 for food.

I have always thought this fair and really like Aria. With all the changes going on though I was wondering about maybe moving to Caesars or V/P. However,I do casino hop a bit between MGM properties and enjoy that I can play at Bellagio/Mirage/MGM etc and still get comps. Wouldn't want to trade down to Harrahs,Flamingo etc.

So your summary was really helpful in deciding to stick with Aria and see what happens these next two trips.Thank you.

My wife and I dropped all the way down to Gold in the last couple of days from Noir. I don't have a solid snap shot of tier credits for late September 2012. In July 2012, 500K roll off the book leaving a balance of 2.1M. If I assume another 500K rolled off in September 2012, I would think the lowest number of TCs on October 1st, would have been 1.6M. All points are from slot play.

From reading the other posts on here, some folks have retained thier Noir and some folks have lost their Noir with apporximately yhe same number of TCs.

It is remarkable (in a bad way) how Random Mlife seems.

Very good stuff. Greatly appreciate the detail.

I do realize the game quality is probably the most important deciding factor for where to play, and MGM's do have that over CET for VP and BJ in addition to room quality. I didn't know it was that way for slots though as I've heard many complain about the slot treatment by MGM's.

I do still like Aria, and have offers there, and did play there last trip, but kept all my play on friends cards as you suggest (mostly $1/$2 VP), so it was a good deal for them as quarter players.

I am giving MGM/CET 12-18 months with no play appearing from me, and see what happens.

Honestly the game quality is so bad for VP under $5 on the strip, I'll probably either have to switch to downtown or bring a $20K bankroll so I can hit some full pay $5 machines.

I wonder what's up with that?

I just finished logging onto MLife.com and I can see specifically how many points I need till I reach Noir--right down to the single point.
