Has anyone stayed at Harrah's recently? How are the rooms and what rooms do I NOT want to get? Also can you hear the construction at the IP? Any info would be appreciated.
I saw my nieces room in september, I think carnival court tower. all I can say is boo! small dark and sad.
Harrahs used to be a Holiday Inn way back in the day. Rooms are on the smaller size by todays Vegas standards and oddly shaped. The nicer rooms are going to be ones in the suite categories Petite and Executive suites. Canival Tower Rooms are next to carnival court and can be noiser due to Carnival Court outdoor bar and construction going on. I believe Marti Gras tower had the room renovations in 2007 and the luxury rooms have marble countertops, lcd tv, etc. The REALLY nice rooms are the M suites but they are reserved for Seven Stars players and higher. http://www.vegastripping.com/features/feature.php?feature_id=153&page=1 I have heard whispers in the diamond lounge of diamond level players scoring these on a weekday with a smile and a nice tip, but so far no luck for me. I last stayed last December. We were in the Mardi Gras tower in a basic room and I thought it was very nice. I have stayed at nearly every Caesar property and while Flamingo is my favorite resort, the Harrah's room was a step nicer. The bed was very comfortable, nothing appeared too outdated or worn. I actually thought it was more on par with PH than Flamingo or Ballys.
I stayed there twice last year and probably won't be going back. I had a 5th floor room in January and it was fine. The room wasn't fancy, but it was a somewhat recently remodeled room that was clean and quiet. Fast forward to early November when I'm in a 12th floor room that is the same as the one on 5. First night was fine, but when we returned the first day the air conditioner/heater would not turn on (it was cold outside, but stuffy in the room). It took at least five maintenance men (not sure how many because we left) to finally decide they had no idea why it wouldn't turn on. They moved us to another room on the 16th floor that, while clean, was dated and needed a remodel. The kicker, though was that when the front desk told me it would be 15 minutes to bring us our new keys and help us to the new room it was more than 30 minutes and then the bellman dropped off the keys and left. I did get $30 F&B, but it was an inconvenience.
I have stayed in the Premium room in Mardi Gras tower in Aug ($20 trick upgrade from the classic..which I have also stayed in) it was nice room, we were on the 15th floor and asked if we wanted the quiet side or party side...we went with party side over the pool and carnival court, it was nice to open the door and be in the party without being at the party while we were getting ready to go out for the day/night. with the door shut it wasn't noisy at all
I last stayed at Harrah's in March 2010. It appeared to be a renovated room in the Carnival Tower, that was away from the noise of Carnival Court. I found the room to be nicer than the Flamingo standard room I had stayed in a few years prior. My biggest complaint about Harrah's was the walls are very thin, and you can hear doors closing and toilets flushing at all hours of the day.
stayed there in june and yes you can hear construction depending on the room.im staying again next week there. i had no noise problem because im a diamond there so they made sure it was a quite room but seems to hit or miss. funny story just called the quade and asked about noise becuase they had rooms priced at 20$ .i was told no cunstruction on weekends but construction can start as early as 6 am and yes you will here it there.
I agree, it was nicer than the standard room at flamingo, but the walls were paper thin. I could hear the old couple in the room next to me every morning at 5am waking up and having a coughing fit. And at 5am I am probably just getting back to my room to try and sleep! lol
At check in Harrah's should give you the option to upgrade your room, unless you are there at a particularly busy time (I've stayed there various times of the year, including long weekends and holidays, and they have always pulled out the room upgrade price sheet). Its an actual price sheet and costs usually run $5-30 more per night depending on what upgrade you take. I think the mini suite upgrade is $10 or $15 more per night and is a nice one to get for a larger room, sofa, fridge, bigger bathroom and you should be towards the back of the property so might be a little quieter than if you were closer to The Strip.
We were there in Nov. Carnival tower...the big one. Had no issues with the noise at all. There was a safe in the room that held all my things just fine. Had a basic room...clean,comfy, no problem at all. Would stay here again.
Stayed in Sept of 2012 and had no issues whatsoever. I asked for a quiet room and was given 501 in the Mardi Gras(? old, smaller elevators closer to the casino) Tower. Could not hear any construction noise at all but we were about as far north in Harrahs as you can get. Also could not hear anything from neighbouring rooms. We were at the very end of the hall so that helped with noise.
My issue with noise was only with people being in the adjoining room. And the couple next to us were in their 60s-70s so they weren't even being that loud either. Wouldn't have had any problems if the room next to us were empty.However, on the last day of our stay we were awoken in the middle of the night because there was a unit on the ceiling (smoke detector?) that started quietly beebing every minute at around 3am. The battery in the unit was dieing and they had to replace it. My GF waited 30 minutes for someone to come fix it (I went to the casino lol). They gave us a complimentary late check out
I have stayed at Harrahs for the past 4 years and have always had a Mardi Gras tower room on the quiet side away from the pool. Yes the rooms are small but they are clean, and the bed is really comfortable. Last year they tried to give us a room on the pool side and when we checked it out it was noisy both from the pool and construction at IP so they changed us to the other side of the hall and it was like night and day difference so quiet over there. Not much of a view but you can see the Mirage Volcano. I will probably continue staying at Harrahs as we get most of our rooms comped and I just love the location that is my favorite part of the strip.
Just got back from Vegas last night and stayed at Harrahs. We had a room in the Carnival tower - #1828. It was a very basic room with upgrades (marble counter top in bathroom, LCD tv, room safe) , clean, and no Carnival Court noise since they are renovated that area. They are using large jack hammers to remove the cement in the bar area in the carnival court. The only complaint we had with the room was the lack of drawer space. There were three of us and only 3 very small drawers. We stayed for four nights, so the lack of drawer space came into play.
I love Harrahs. Rooms are nothing special and are average for my standards. Just booked my April 12th birthday weekend a few minutes ago!
They were decent, the buffet is good too. It's just the low energy casino that gets me. The flamingo or aria is much better for exciting craps play.
