    Ooh - I need a new salad spinner - I've cracked my lid in a few places:cry:

We don't really do gifts with many people, and as a result, I don't have anything that I don't like.

A salad spinners a good thing! I need a new one too cause my brake pad is worn out.

I buy my own gifts and get family to wrap them so I get exactly what I want.
(Getting old and forgetful has its advantages. I'm always surprised!)

No one in our circle "gives" simply to tag the base. So the gifts involve thought and care, and no rummage-sale crap shows up.

This isn't what I'd call a dumb gift but it's one that I could live without. Every year my son buys me bath lotions and gels. He means well but I would rather he made a donation to the homeless. It takes me all year to use it up and then he replaces it with new stuff.

I got a snowglobe that you are supposed to insert a picture in. I suppose it is cute for someone.....but if there is anything I don't need..it is another useless knick-knack!

Why don't you just tell him that? Or you could just donate the stuff to the homeless, I'm sure they'd take it.

I thought I had told him (along with the rest of the family) but apparently I missed him or he chose not to hear.

But sometimes I need a thump on the head to see things clearly and you have done that. I don't think the homeless would have any use for it as they don't have much access to leisurely baths and showers but I do know that the Women's Shelter in my town is always asking for hotel soaps and shampoos as donations. That's a wonderful solution and I thank you Dfalk for making me think of that! Someone will enjoy this gift and for that I'm grateful.

A donation was made in my name to the Save the Tree Bark Children Afraid of Ceramic Tiles Whale foundation (Dolphin-free division).

That's a gift I can appreciate every time I think of it. Like now, and... never again.
