Trying to plan a trip for my wife and her step mom. Her step mom smokes. I'd like to find a room that allows smoking but perhaps has easy access to the outside, such as a balcony.

    Any ideas?

    thanks !!!!!

I'm not sure about balconies, other that at the Cosmopolitan. My place (Hard Rock) has some nice double french doors that open in their casino tower, but it's off the strip and not sure it's the demographic you're looking for. Vegas isn't big on balconies, except for higher-end rooms, I think due to possible jumpers. Thankfully, Vegas is very smoker friendly, so you should find good accommodations, though a balcony may be tough.

I hope others have some suggestions that'll help. Best wishes for fun trip.

Harrahs has some really small ones. I have personally smoked a stogie or two off of them.

The only "regular" rooms in Vegas that I know of that have a balcony you can go out on are the "terrace" rooms at the Cosmo. I'm not sure of their policies on smoking... If you want o be in the room, but blow the smoke outside, the bathrooms at Orleans have a window that you can angle outward. It's not ideal, but a considerate smoker might be able to avoid bothering a roommate without having to leave the room. You'd definitely want to request a "smoking" room though.

I checked out the cosmo, They are a nonsmoking hotel but do have the balconies. From is $240+ a night, more than I'm looking to spend...especially since I'm not even going:whistle:

Several regular rooms at the IP/Quad have small balconies. There is also the Terrace Suites at MGM Grand that have balconies, but are way more than what Cosmo would charge.

I know the Paris has at least two floors designated for smoking rooms. No balconies but you can open the windows (they do actually open). We stayed on the 3rd floor right above the pool and the view was great. I can also honestly say that while walking down the hall I smelled something that wasn't tobacco (if you know what I mean) and management did not seem to have a problem with it.. I guess if it's in the privacy of your own room and the entire floor is designated for smoking than no big deal.

I don't know your range of price, but Cosmo is PERFECT for this.
The rooms are non-smoking but they are very accommodating to smokers that want to use the balcony (i.e. they actually provide ashtray and matches in the room).

I really like it. I don't want to sleep in an ashtray, but it is nice to go outside and take a puff in the clean outside air and look over the city.

Cosmo does sound like the way to go but the price is about twice as much as a lot of the others. Need to find a discount

Stay at the IP/Quad. The rooms are cheap and you can also feed the pigeons. Although i always ask for a non-smoking room when going solo, i would also stay in a smoking room if need be.
Like i said, stay at the Quad, ask for a non-smoking room, and have the other person step onto the balcony and smoke. This allows both of you to co-exist peacefully...LOL.

If you are a Marriott Rewards member you might get a discount that way. Cosmo is listed as an "Autograph Collection" hotel on the Marriott website.

Granted the third floor windows MAY be bigger than upper floors but it is a double window and half of it opens. I would say the part that opens is about 2' wide by 3' high

True. You can also redeem points for stays there.
Although . . . . for the amount needed for the stay (I'm doing this for NYE) you can probably choose a tablet PC or a mountain bike out of the catalog instead.

Pinny, I'm officially jealous. I'd love to be at the Cosmo for NYE. Have a great trip!
