Buffet of Buffets price increase!

They are currently putting a sign up outside the entrance to PHo showing a price of $47.99.

 

Oh, brother, it's nearly doubled from what it started at. Even inflation doesn't rise that fast.

 

I was in town a couple years ago or so when it increased $5, all the signs on the strip had the old price, but none of the Casinos would honor. I quit doing their buffets when they got north of $40, I am not a foodie and just dont eat that much at one setting to make it worthwhile.

 

Also, note that they add an extra $15 for the Rio "Seafood Buffet" or the Caesars "Bacchanal Buffet".

Even at nearly $50 it's still a good value if you can get 3 or 4 meals in 24 hours.

 

I did the buffet of buffets in March 2011 and had 5 buffets in the 24 hours while drinking in between. Was the most full I ever was in my entire life, must have gained 5 pounds easy that day

 

Bacchanal buffet all by itself: $45.
Buffet of Buffets: $48.
Bacchanal buffet with one upgrade (Rio Seafood/Caesar's Bacchanal) - $63.

I wouldn't expect this to go up and up and up. How much would you pay to eat in a day if it wasn't buffet after buffet after buffet? This is in the right neighborhood, I think.

$50 to eat for 24 hours (and it's really 30-36 hours, since you're probably not going to run out for a sammy right after your last buffet) isn't unbeatable on the strip, but it's still not a terrible price to pay to eat for that long.

The TR site now states "from $47.99". Under FAQs it states a price of $52.99 for passes purchased from 11am Friday to 11am Sunday.

Looking at the Paris and PH websites, it looks like prices for the individual buffets have also risen. Breakfast at PH is now $18.99 and $20.99 for the early Sat/Sun breakfast, it used to be $15.99 every day, although I think these increases took place some time ago.

 

Been to the grocery store lately folks? Food prices are on the rise...

 

It depends on what you consider a value lol. When it was 34.99 I could bring my self to pay it since I could eat 2 or 3 meals. At this price I might as well eat at a real restaurant. On FSE I can eat 3 meals for under 30 combined, so its a hard sell for me lol. The food made by the CET buffets is quite good though.


At MSS alone I can have lunch at one of the best buffets in town for $8!

Its going up, but not enough to double the price over a few years. IMO

 

Maybe they should just triple the price so we all stop making gluttons of ourselves. One buffet a day is damaging enough to our bodies. But people keep complaining about how "small the plane seats are" and not enough room to get comfortable. Hah! Cry me a river.

 

I dunno.......

In my real life my diet is heavy on veggies and light on lean meats, and almost no fast food ever. It's no burden, it's how I like to eat. But for me, Las Vegas is all about over-the-top and gluttony. No limits on my hedonism in Vegas. So four buffets for $50 isn't out of the realm of my Vegas possibilities. (All those tiny little desserts! So small I can try EVERYTHING!) I just have to pace myself better so that I don't end up like I did last time, lying in bed unable to move after the fourth buffet!

 

Still seems like a good deal.

What is the food quality of the buffets?

 

I wouldn't get my money's worth at that price. I'll just play MyVegas and get all my eats for free.

 

Here's my very biased opinion:

Paradise Garden Buffet (Flamingo): Very good for breakfast, good, but not outstanding for dinner.

Flavors (Harrah's Las Vegas): One of the more consistently good ones, but again, not outstanding.

Emperor's Buffet (The Quad): Not as bad as reputed. Quick cheap and arguably enjoyable breakfast or lunch. Never had it for dinner. Quickest line of all.

Spice Market Buffet (Planet Hollywood): Was outstanding several years back. Good but not outstanding last time there (dinner). Last time we were going to go the line was so nasty it went upstairs and doubled back in the mall area! We gave up and went to {mumble}.

Le Village Buffet (Paris Las Vegas): Consistently good to outstanding. Line can be very bad.

Carnival World Buffet (Rio): Consistently good to excellent.

Village Seafood Buffet*(Rio): Never been.

Bacchanal Buffet*(Caesars Palace): Never been, but will try in a few days if the line is tolerable.

And, as this Great Recession winds down, we can only expect the price for this ultimate pig-out to go north, as well as most other Las Vegas prices.

 

There is no lack of quality, I have tried most at one point or the other, never dissapointed with the food. I just am not a buffet person and its not worth extra expense and time for me. MOst that get their money out of it eat 3 or 4 times during the 24 hours. I can never keep up with that kind of feeding schedule!!

I did it once on Veteran's Day when it was free. I liked it, but I never would get the dollar value out of it.
Now that my eating is restricted to salad and mostly vegetables and fruit with maybe a bit of seafood or an egg or a few seeds, but without any rich dairy based sauces, I'd never get the value out of this deal.
Orleans has an all day deal for $24 ($30 on Friday) and it comes with a wrist band that means completely skipping the lines. I like that because there is no temptation to overeat. Any time I want a break from the poker table, I just wander in and have a bite of fruit and coffee or a salad. There is no limit to how many visits I can make and never a line since I buy it in the morning when there are few people. A real savings on weekends. I used to eat a lot but all at one buffet a day, but now I need to be able to just graze during the day for the best health.

Then too there have been very good reports on the food now at Station casinos and their prices have dropped so low that were we to buy all three meals, it would be about 40% cheaper than the price of this deal, and more if for some reason we missed a meal. Granted, neither of these options have the upscale offerings of the upscale buffets, but I think they feed us pretty well.

Then with the destination coupon, Spice Market buffet is just $17 for lunch, so that gives us some upscale for much less.
It just seems to me that for most folks the delight in a buffet is dimished if three are eaten in one day, but if you can delight in four or five visits, it still is a decent deal.
