I was hoping to get their just before Christmas, but that's not going to happen. I see I can get a room comped for a few nights (Jan 1-4). Is the Strip extremely busy during that time period, just as it would be leading up to New Year's Eve? Any insight is much appreciated. Thanks!

That time will actually be pretty docile.
January 1 is always a bit sluggish because everyone has overpartied the night before and sleep late and nurse hangovers. Many people will be leaving town on the 1st as they will be here for the weekend and go home after the big NYE blowout is done. 2 and 3 will also be calm. The 4th is a Friday so things will pick up a bit by default.

I've been to Vegas a few times right after New Year's, and I'd say PL's post is spot on. Once the NYE revelers get themselves in good enough shape to leave, the place becomes a ghost town.

Days leading up to events (super bowl, NYE, fights, etc) are busy. Days after are only busy with people leaving.

I agree, it's pretty slow that time of year. I've been there the last 2 years the week after New Year's and am heading back again Jan. 2 for six days....I prefer the slower pace....guess I'm getting old!

    Slow

Many years ago, I went for NYE. It was packed on NYE, but on Jan 1st, the town cleared out by evening. I think that in general, January is a fairly slow time to visit. Last year, I went the second weekend in Jan and got amazing hotel rates.

As noted, things will probably pick up at the very end of your trip. Not only is the 4th a Friday, but then CES begins on the 8th (Tuesday), so it'll be full steam ahead then.

That's why we're heading into town on the 2nd and 3rd - no crowds. Much calmer. Then out before CES gets crazy.

Yeah Jan 1-4 is pretty slow for the most part. A lot of people will be leaving.

Thanks again everyone. I just booked four comp nights at Bally's (first time at Bally's) from Jan 1-5. Looking forward to it, for sure!
