I have some very general questions about the Bconnected program at Orleans. We will be making our first trip there next weekend for a couple days and will join the program.

My question is, if I play 7-8 hours of $.25 JOB video poker at I guess an average rate per hour (whatever that may be), 2-3 hours of $5 BJ and some slots thrown in over the course of Friday evening, all day Saturday, and most of the day Sunday, what kind of comps/offers would I be looking at?
Also, would it be enough to have their department look at our play when we check out to see if we could get a reduced room rate?

I don't think your $5 bj will get rated, however, I typically play about 2-3 hours a day of .25 vp (full coin, ACE$ bonus) over a three day period when visiting the Orleans and I regularly get offers for 2 free nights and a small dining credit. At first my offers were good any day of the week, but at some point they slipped to Sun-Thu. Your mileage may vary. Good luck!

Ok, thanks for your help. I'm not expecting a lot for what I gamble, just wanted to have a general idea. They did tell me on the phone however to speak to their host upon checkout and they will see if they can take anything off the room rates. Couldn't hurt, I suppose....

Same here. For sure, playing $5 BJ won't get you the keys to the city, but at least half the time, a few hours at the tables will get you the buffet.

Orleans will take your card and rate you for $5 BJ. Granted you won't get a lot of credit from it, but they do rate you for it. Start out making a few $10 bets when the pit is watching and you might even get rated as a $10 player even if you drop down later to $5.

I would stop by the host offices located to the right as you turn and walk toward the elevators from registration and also opposite the buffet against the wall (near some exit I believe) is another office (I think it says emerald services or something but I am sapphire and my host talks to me all the time if located there). Introduce yourself and be polite; it goes a long way. Ask for a broad range of play and possible compensation. Send an e-mail thanking for their time.

ONE time we took my MIL pre-Christmas and were leaving on a day when she (our host) was not working until the day after we left. She was a sweetheart ('tis the season?) and credited our credit card charges for a couple of nights and picked up the meals we had put toward the room. We used to budget for the room and food costs and have been pleased with our credits upon check-out. This has allowed us to apply the additional money to gambling budgets for future trips and thus increase our longevity at VP / craps / bj.

I think you will be surprised if you have any experience with strip comps at what you will receive (both from a host and from asking a pit critter for a comp). If nothing else, try a steak at the Prime Rib Loft.

Someone had a survey which described a low roller, mid roller and High Roller recently. I think we were comfortable at one level below the bottom feeders. So go for it. Good luck.

Bubbakitty...not sure what you mean by "a broad range of play". Also, glad to know that my ultra low roller play will net me something at Orleans.

I did email someone in the Bconnected department and asked them about play and room rates. She said the best thing is to speak with a host upon checkout and they may be able to do something with the room charges. I think I got a fair rate, so not looking for anything free, but hey if they want to discount it or give to me for free, who am I to object?

by broad range of play I meant you say we will play at 25 cent level for x to y hours.....if you get too specific you might not meet the time frame or level or whatever and could think you were just playing them.....so 4-6 hours a day rather than 6 hours a day and sounding rather firm in your daily play.....things happen (alcohol) (pinball hall of fame) (shows) that interfere with your time at the tables.....sometimes....I think you will be pleasantly surprised however (although come to think of it we had played Orleans several times prior to actually asking for a host to see what / where we were as is stated MSS likes to see). Please report your findings...

Bubbakitty, thanks for the explanation. That's what we will do, and I will let you know how it went.

On another train of thought, does anyone know how to track coin in thru a machine without keeping track of hands played? I'd like to know what I ran thru a machine, but not have to write every hand down when I push the button....kind of defeats the purpose of relaxing if that's the only way.

on the machines at the Orleans there is a little screen up above the game that says "welcome ......" good luck etc. it shows the day's total earnings, the total points on your account, etc. As you begin to play it goes to 0 with each machine you put your card in for that 24 hour period. This allows you to know how many points you earned on this particular machine. I forget the ratio but you can put in money (1.25 $ for VP) and just count the ratio of your point to the amount of money in the machine. I am sorry to not remember exactly, but if you get 1 point per 1 $ put in the machine you would have 5 after 4 rounds of vp at (1.25) a quarter machine. You could check your totals daily. Just write down the total on your card at the beginning of the day and subtract that from the next day's total; multiply by however many $'s in = 1 point and you got it. I hope.

That seems easier than in my local NA casino..They have some sort of countdown thing and it's confusing as all the different denoms have different countdowns, from 4-6 digits.

I think I understand....but if I play say, penny slots, it would have a different points ratio, right? I was never very good with math, other than when to hit against the dealer in BJ...LOL

Got back home Sunday evening from our trip to the Orleans. Happy to report BJ conditions are good, even at the $5 level. Dealer hits soft 17 and DAS. No surrender though. And plenty of $5 tables, even on Friday and Saturday nights. They did rate me, not sure how much as it seems I got some sort of score as my slot points are one number and my card score is higher. We did not play enough coin in to get our room comped, but we still enjoyed ourselves immensly. We came home with more than we left with, which is a good thing. I can't remember the last time I came home from Vegas with more in my pocket than I arrived with!

My wife was on fire playing DDB video poker, hit a few 4OAK, I hit for one. We also both walked away from about 4 1/2 hours at the $5 BJ table up almost $400 between the both of us.

It's a decent enough place, we'll probably go back if we get good offers..

Great news....love the Orleans (due to our hostess) but have heard many good things about other properties (California, SunCoast, MSS) by other gamblers. You will definitely get 2 free night offers (for each cardholder) which is great as with the two of you that could be 5 nights for the price of 1 (and weekends are ok as well). Your experience makes me wonder (once again) why anyone would complain about no comps and no respect from strip properties for their play. Take all the money you save on rooms / food and apply to the taxi to the strip if that is the deal (or better yet, just stay on the strip and complain about conditions.....). Great report and look forward to what you report is offered.

I get Orleans offers from nickle VP play on the banks of machines that deal three hands at a time. This is 75 cents a pull on 9/7 DB progressive. I get a couple free nights every 6 weeks. It was weekends, then it was only weekdays, and the last one was sent out ages ago but goes through the end of April and is good on weekends as well. I play on senior day when points are multiplied, but I'm not sure that makes a huge difference. Pretty low rolling for free rooms. Also, generally I limit my play to just the days I am there and don't stay longer than the freebies. Next trip I may alter that and add a couple of paid nights as I am jus getting too old to be checking in and out every couple nights. I'm thinking of stringing together a couple free nights, a paid night and maybe three nights on one of those slot tournament deals. Anyway, offers will come on very little play. Great rooms. And I like the location with the shuttle taking me to Flamingo strip area and the CAT taking me to Tropicana strip location. I don't play blackjack anymore. I do play a bit of live poker, but this does not get recognized for room offers although the comp dollars earned never seem to go away. They are recorded on a separate card that has to be redeemed in the poker room itself.

Dewey--I was surprised in October when I played in one of the poker tournaments and killed some time prior at 2/4 limit. When you check in at the desk they no longer use the "poker room" card (green(?)) but instead ask for your b-connected card used at tables and machines. Not sure how that is processed or what you get ? but will check in February. My play (1.5 hours at 2/4) and the tournament was not in depth enough for me to retain the question when I left. But I will in Feb.

I have to heartily agree with you on this statement. I'm no big money gambler by any means, in fact I'm even below what most here would call a low roller. I've seen the strip, stayed in a bunch of the properties there, gambled a lot of money over the years, and have seen gaming conditions decline. I go to Vegas to gamble, not club and/or shop, and I want the best conditions to spend my hard earned money on. I've stayed at South Point, Sunset Station, and now Orleans and I like those places as much as any strip joint. The only reason I have to go to the strip now is when I take a newbie so they can see the sights or see a show.

On the other hand, do we really want all those strip crawlers to come and stay at these places? If they do, the room rates will probably rise, and conditions may suffer. However, since these places depend on locals I don't know if they would risk alienating them by changing the gaming conditions...
I say let them stay on the strip and keep complaining about CET, Wynncore and Mlife! We'll just keep these places our secret :ssst:

This is good news. I like having it all on one card and all the comps collected together. Thanks for that clarification. I generally have avoided the Orleans because the competition is always so tough, but I may stay there on my next trip and then I'll play late night 2-4 or my new hit and run short stack no limit.
