Table Games Automated craps and roulette?

Anyone play either the new craps or roulette machines - the ones I'm talking about is where it has the giant dice in the middle and everyone sits at a station - I've played this for quite a few hours with some buddies although I do prefer the table. I've also played the roulette where it is the same style where a real ball shoots out and lands on a spinning table. What do you guys think about these machines? Think it is total random chance? Lol.

 

I think they are random. I've played both. It's nice because the minimum is less than the tables, it's easy, and if you like to bet against the roller you don't get anyone upset.

 

Roulette is pretty straight forward, but the craps . . . I don't know. I'm still a little on the fence about it.

I played the bubble-dome craps for a few hours with a friend at Cosmo. The part that I can't understand is the shooting order. There didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to who would be the next shooter. I would have thought it would go in a clockwise circle, but that was not the case when we were playing.

 

The shooting order is either clockwise or counter-clockwise but the catch, which it says on the machine, is that you must be making pass or don't pass bets to be a shooter... that if you aren't making either of those bets you don't get a chance to shoot.

 

The craps is "Shoot to Win Craps" and the roulette is "Organic Roulette"

There hasn't been too much talk about the roulette game, but there was quite a discussion on the craps game last year when the game first started appearing in casinos.

The general gist of the discussion was that craps purists don't like the game in the pop-o-matic bubble and expect there to be no camaraderie amongst players... they will continue to play at the table. The casual craps players and the ones that pretty much never play craps/table games generally seemed to like the game as is offers lower limits, is easier to follow their bets and doesn't have the intimidation factor that most table games have to inexperienced players.

For the craps game, I like that the limits are cheaper, that you can find machines as low as $1-2 when the table limits in the casino might be up at $10 or higher... I've played all the roulette games (Organic Roulette, Roulette Revolution, Rapid Roulette, Touchbet Roulette, Video Roulette, Turbo Reelette) and like how the Organic Roulette's betting terminal looks and feels and how easy it is to place wagers.

 

I played the Shoot-to-Win craps at LVH quite a bit in July. Also Played at Slots-a-fun and Riv last January. It's not the same as a real table but $2 with 5x odds at LVH was a lot nicer than $10 minimums at the table, and yeah you can play pass, don't pass, lay all the numbers whatever you like.

The woman who says "Push the button, come on shooter push the button," gets annoying after a while but whatever.

I won money several sessions and it never ran worse than I have at a real table so I think it is fair.

 

Maybe that was it. I wasn't paying attention to what others were betting and my friend and I may have been slow at times or missed getting our bets in so maybe we missed the timing and didn't have the bets down at the right time or something. It seemed like it was just jumping around and skipping people willy nilly.

 

They actually have one of those games at the el cortez downtown. One night there were 4 girls playing the machine so I just stuck around to watch them. (didn't hurt that they were young and beautiful, lol). I asked them about the game and playing. As auggie mentioned, they like the game because you don't have to bet much, can do $1 bets and while you won't get actual odds by playing $1 you also don't lose that much either.

They also liked the game because they didn't want to worry about others (pit crew, other gamblers) and what everyone else thought about them or their playing style. They didn't have to worry about making the wrong bet or the stink eye for doing something wrong (less stress because no human intervention too). another thing is the length of play, with those big dice play isn't as fast and furious as you see on the tables (actually was getting boring for me since it was taking so long to do one roll).

I doubt if I would play those things (maybe if I lost most of my bankroll and just wanted to waste some time) but many of us craps players enjoy the table and the feel of throwing the dice, throwing out all those bets, etc.

To each his/her own I guess and comfort level.

 

I tried the craps machine but I found that I missed the conversation and camaraderie around the actual tables. Too much like playing a slot machine.

 

Anyone notice how many points or comps that you earned at either machine? I've heard that MGM properties were giving tier credits, but no express comps.

 

I think at CET it's $40 wagered gets 1 point....about as shitty as playing a normal table.

I like these machines do I can test out new betting progressions and whatnot. I also like to do an occasional $200 lay on a 4 without getting the stink eye from the shooter.

 

At El Cortez it was $3 bet = 1 point on the craps machine, which I believe included your odds bets. Normal slots and VP is $1 = 1 point.

My wife and I have been playing Roulette during vacations (mostly cruises) but in Vegas a few years back we tried the "auto roulette" (I like to pop up bubble that someone called it
I typically will only play about $10 to $12 per spin.
I found that playing on the terminal you dont get the same feel of the money you are putting out. I tended to play higher amounts than I would on a real table.
Worked out for me, walked away with $1000 at the end of the round. Took a pic part way through...

 

I was looking forward to playing this last trip but noticed that just about every machine is 2 times odds.

So that means even with smart play you just cant get your money back out of it.

That was a real pooper for me.

They only one i found with decent odds was at the gold strike way out in jean.

$1 pass line plus 10 times odds.

 

The ones I saw the last three times I have been out to Vegas had 5x odds. Riviera, LVH, Slots O Fun.

This was in January and June.

 

At Bill's they have a version of Bubble Craps. A 2/3rd's size craps table that has the automated betting terminal with a seat and then you roll the dice. They have One Boxman manning the table and it may hold 10 / 12 terminals. Had fun as you got to shoot the dice....
