Are MLife Tier credits earned differently at the Beau Rivage?

It seems like I get a different explanation on how everything is earned depending on who I ask and where.

My situation: It's my first trip to an MGM property since all the points were reset to 0. I am a Platinum member and usually stay at Mandalay Bay in Vegas but I had a junket offer to fly and stay for free at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi this past weekend (3 nights - Sat to Tuesday)

My play was a bit more aggressive than usual on the craps table. I would have a $25 pass line bet and then do full odds and bet either $270 across or $480 across when I played on the "crapless" table. I would periodically press my bets and play went well. Even started one session with an aggressive $1800 bet across. I think I tallied at least 4 hours of craps a day.

I also played a few hours of BJ at either $150 or $300 a hand, along with minimal play at Pai Gow and slots. It was a very successful trip for me and I ended up winning over $10,000. I used most of the $397 in Express Comps that I had but I have no idea how many I had when I started the trip. I would think I had to have earned $300 in EC on the trip as I am pretty aggressive in making sure I use as many as possible before I leave any destination.

So, I log into my account today and find out I have only 24,458 tier credits. I would have thought with my play that I would have a whole lot more. Perhaps BJ gets a whole lot more credit and I spent a lot more time on the craps table (since I was kicking butt!) but the tier credits is way down from what I would typically earn on a trip. At this pace, I would have to have 8 trips to an MGM property to maintain Platinum! I made it last year with only 4 trips, I think, and I would have thought my play was less.

Do you earn fewer tier credits at the Beau Rivage?

 

Short answer: yes.

I know in Vegas it's 10 tier credits for every point. In Detroit it's only 1 tier credit for every point. I know it's something less than 10 at the Beau, can't remember what the exact number is though.

 

I just looked it up on the MLife website: 2 tier credits for every base point earned at the Beau. So you earn them 5 times faster in Vegas.

 

Yeah, so instead of being solidly into gold level, you're still at sapphire for your play after this trip.

 

Thanks for the response, everyone. That does make a lot of sense. I guess with the same play, I only need a couple of trips to Vegas to make sure I maintain Platinum.

I really like the Beau Rivage and love the charter trips they offer but it makes a big difference to me to stay Plat!

Looks like I need to go for a least a trip for March Madness and again in the summer!

 

why would vegas offer such better odds/comps?

 

I've yet to get a satisfying answer to this question as $1 in MS is worth the same in NV. The reason I have received from the poeople at Mandalay went something like this:

Beau/Gold Strike/MGM Detroit are "locals" casinos where people will stop off on true way home from work and play several times a week/month. They will accrue large amount of comps, sit on them, and then when they go to LV they will spend them there and not gamble.

My answer to that is; so what? No casino has ever lost money to a slot player...certainly not someOne who hammers out $100 or so per outing on a $.25 machine.

While MGM tries to spin it that Vegas properties earn faster comps etc it seems to me that my play is less valuable and there for they give out less. I'll take my play over to Boyd or Hard Rock in Biloxi and to the Horseshoe in Tunica.

I agree. There really isnt any way to answer the question honestly without admitting players in MS and MI are being screwed.

 

There is a serious lack of common sense in the Mlife department - or the powers to be above it.

Loyalty programs are meant to encourage people to visit more often, and spend more while they are there. Fiddling around with different values and payouts is for accountants, who apparently have serious influence at MGM. At times, I am surprised they have not found a way to eliminate programs like this.

Different earning at different casinos is silly. Differing earning depending on which machine you happen to be playing is also silly. There are other ways to make the margins work than to PISS OFF YOUR INCOME PRODUCING CUSTOMERS.
