I have a standing bet between a friend to see who can complete more actives from a pre-determined list on our next trip to Vegas. One of those tasks is to crash a wedding.

Since I've never looked at how these properties have their chapel areas arraigned, I have to ask; How crashable are weddings held at strip casino properties?

    Thanks

While I personally can't fathom a more horrific fate than being married, folks who do decide to tie the knot tend to take the wedding quite seriously. You don't really want to be the guy that puts a damper on some poor bride's big day. Do you?

Lol, I know that a wedding at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel would be trivially easy to crash. My guess is that a non-celebrity low-profile wedding at about anywhere would be about the same.

Actually, I think it would be harder to do, because I'm guessin' the groups that attend a Vegas wedding would be smaller than "back home" and therefore someone they don't know would stand out more. The flip side of that is I'm guessin' the folks that marry in Vegas are more free-wheelin' and fun'-lovin' and may not give a hoot if a couple of a fun people tag along for a bit.

I did read this stat awhile back... on average, 150 couples A DAY get married in Las Vegas!!! I think that's much higher than I ever would've guessed.

At the most recent ceremony I attended, I was only a FOAF of the couple, and I didn't really know many of the others, and many did not know me. The greeter, who was chapel staff, simply asked which ceremony we were there for, as there were two at about the same time. No formality at all.

Part of me says this is morally wrong and a d-word thing to do. Part me of says what the hell, my own family ruined my wedding. I'm torn.

I know that the wedding chapel and the courthouse here has retired people they pay to be witnesses. I don't know if you need a witness in Nevada. Maybe offer to be a witness? Not really crashing but if you show your friend a pic of you at the wedding with no explanation...you could say you crashed the wedding and still be a badass in the eyes of your friend (cuz that's important).

I think if you're gonna do it, be respectful and on your good behaviour, clean yourself up and dress nice, don't be too drunk, bring a gift, and have some kind words for the happy couple. Blending in and having a gift is what's going to pull it off for you. That would be my strategy if I was going to do it.

It's Vegas. With the right personality and the right couple, you may be able to pull it off. There are free spirits out there who would think the more the merrier and invite you in. Maybe the right way to do it is so hang out at the clerks office or a wedding chapel and see if you can make some friends. But what I wouldn't do is try to move in on a more formally organized ceremony. That's just never cool.

LOL!! Too bad you weren't out there in July. My daughter and son in law got married in Vegas back in July and they would have thought it was a hoot if someone had crashed their wedding.

I agree with the post above, I'd hang out at the clerk's office or some fun wedding chapel and see if you can chat up a couple, make some new friends and witness their special day from that angle. OR you could go to a wedding chapel and tell them you're scouting locations for your upcoming wedding and ask if you might be able to see one of their weddings as it's taking place. Now don't quote me on this because I could be totally wrong but I believe that Little Chapel of the West down by Mandalay Bay has an open door policy and will let anyone in to watch their weddings.

I can't wait for you to let us all know how your quest turns out!! Good luck!

I know the Cosmo had a pop up wedding chapel that was kind of a "joke" type thing. I bet you could totally crash a "wedding" there. Can't guarantee it will be real, but it will be in a "chapel".

Watch "Wedding Crashers" before going...lol or just go to the location where they do the marriage license or to like the Little White Chapel and crash there..I think a wedding held at a hotel might be a bit harder to crash, or just scope one out and see how many people, if there is a lot of people just walk on in and try to fit in..but try to be respectful and not ruin their day:beer::beer:

While not a Vegas wedding, we did have more than a few crashers at my daughter's wedding reception. 2 Venues in a small town not far apart. The other wedding was playing Hip Hop. Ours had Rock and Roll.
It was a cash bar so no biggie. We didn't even realize it until we saw the crashers at the hotel the next morning.

Well, I think some more clarity is needed -
    as to "Wedding Crashing."
    .
My thought was crashing "The Reception" = was the ACTUAL BET
    between these two guys.
    .
The Wedding Ceremony = ( I believe ) would be the "easy" part.
You could arrive at the last moment -
    sit in the back -
and never have to converse w/ anyone.
    .
The Reception = would take much more skill to navigate w/ out
    being detected as a "crasher".
    .
    PS :
You would have been the ONLY attendee at my Vegas wedding !!!!

IIRC, Abbie Hoffman suggested crashing wedding receptions in Steal This Book as a way of getting free food. :)

    Show them the list.

People have scavenger hunts all the time, and whether it's a kiss on the cheek or something kinkier, I've found that just being upfront with people is the best method. Not sure if this would violate the concept of crashing, but I would do the following:

    1. Follow the advice listed above to find weddings taking place, and to try to get in a social situation with some of the participants.

    2. Identify the fun person in the group - the one that's your age, that has enough clout and pull to be an ambassador.

    3. Show him/her your list, let them know that it's a competition with your friends. Smile and ask them to be a pal and let you come in and snap a few pictures.

    4. Definitely have a gift handy ahead of time. Something inexpensive but cool. The fact that you have anything at all is going to be huge.

I bet this works 3/4 of the time. If you're a nice guy about it.

Not specifically wedding crashing, but I'll share my experience with a buddy from 4 years back when we invented a new game called "Hospitality Roulette".
We had just finished a trade show at the Anaheim Convention Center and wandered into one of the hotels nearby (there were about 4 or 5 that all kind of butted next to each other).

It started with us seeing an outdoor roped-in party outside of one of the hotels. We had snuck in and were wandering around the various food stations and grabbing beers before one of the help asked us where our wristbands were. We moved on to the lobby of the hotel and it was here that it became a sport to us. We'd move into the lobby of one of the big business hotels and look at the welcome screen where it would list all the events. Then we'd just go from party to party eating Hors'd'ouvres and mingling.

We were having a blast and whenever we'd see an open door to one of the meeting rooms we'd slide in and start hitting up the food stations or dancing if there was a dance area. We hit about 7 parties that night.

There was only one awkward moment when we slid into a party, started getting some snacks and felt kind of like we were being looked at funny (we were still wearing our suits so we were never underdressed). My buddy and I are about as white as they come and I noticed that the room seemed to be populated exclusively by African Americans. As the MC announced an award for something and we enthusiastically clapped with the audience we then noticed that the screen behind the stage read "Black Businessmen of America Convention" and we casually slipped out of that one.

As we were in the elevator going back to the garage to get our car there were a couple young gals in the elevator who said to us, "Oh, we saw you guys at the party!" Playing it cool (or so I thought) I responded back, "Right, the Sony party, how ya doing?" They shook their heads, "No," so my buddy tried, "Merrill Lynch?"

    "No."
    "Nordstroms?"
    "No."
    "ADT?"
    "No. Honeywell."
"Oh, that's right. Good to see you two again."
"How many parties did you guys go to anyway?"
    "Yeah, uhh, it's not important."

    Thanks, everyone, for the advice.

The list is mostly made up of mostly mundane things that both of us have not done, such as 'Take a picture at the "Welcome to Fab L.V" sign.' A bunch of stuff like that, kinda sad, no?

    However, a third friend got involved and added 5 more adventurous tasks. In addition to the wedding crash, they are;

    - be a card slapper for 15 minutes
    - get a dealer or CW to go sinking with you after they get off for the day
    - convince a stranger to go up the Eiffel Tower with you
    - get your entire table (gambling) to sing-along to a song playing on the casino speakers

That's brilliant. Card slapper for 15 minutes. I could do an hour no problem.

We should get a group assembled . . . we can get a better rate on our "Girls Direct 2 U" T-Shirts that way.

Or maybe we should all wear our nicest suits. It'll really throw people off guard when they have to walk-the-gauntlet this time with a bunch of well-dressed native English-speaking porn slappers.
