Happens sometimes. Less girls depending what and where you play.

A few of my friends that play the slots have noticed this on recent trips. If you want drinks these days they tend to only flow freely in the table pits. My brother was playing $.01 slots and resorted to buying his own drinks and was not happy. Then came to play pai gow with me and got what he wanted, when he wanted and never got less than half left before a new one arrived. I guess it makes sense because there is more money to be had for the casino in the table pits but it is not to say you can't get a drink in the slots just less likely/frequent. Have heard of people seeking out the cocktail waitress near slots and sitting down at a nearby machine to play a few spins to get a drink.

Getting drinks while playing slots has always been horrible for me no matter where I play. They take forever and I hate sitting at a machine I don't want to play just to wait for my drink. Add the fact that I'm always switching machines makes it even worse. I usually buy a couple cheap tallboys to drink if I plan on playing slots for awhile.

Table games are the total opposite. Service it always great and my next beer shows up before I'm even done with the one I have.

I was in Vegas Nov 3-6. Never had an issue getting beers while playing slots. Played on the strip (CET properties) and downtown. My only complaint is that the first time the waitresses walk through you practically have to jump in front of them to get their attention. Seems like they barely get the word "drinks" out of their mouth and then they are gone before you say "yes".

If you tip them well you won't have an issue...$1 or $2 a drink goes a long way.

I was tipping 2 dollars a round and having difficulty getting drinks in a timely manner at the slots. I play anywhere fro .40 cents to 10 dollars. When I was at the bellagio playing 3 bucks a spin the drink service was awful. When I played craps I had the drinks coming one after another.

our last trip was in september and we found drink service pretty good.

I agree that you have to be quick to respond when they whizz by in some places or you are out of luck.It is definitely hit and miss though.

last trip riviera had great service and slots of fun was awesome.we even ventured into circus circus one evening and service was non existent and then we headed to the back area of the huge casino and the girl there brought the drinks faster than we could drink them.we usually tip a buck a drink and that seems to keep them happy.

mermaids is still as good as ever and we laugh how the girls there fight over who brings your drink when they know you tip.

As a Bellagio regular the past 5 years, I can really see things falling off sometime in 2011. I always tip $5/drink. Gaggles and I resorted to bar top only play in recent trips. The bank of $5 progressives we nicknamed "Death Valley" because it's the driest place on Earth. I've gotten more handpays than drinks on Bellagio floor lately. The past 3 trips, staying at Bellagio we have left for Cosmo in disgust at least one night per trip.

Bellagio and MGMs suck now. They were the best 3 years ago. Its sad.

Do the machines at CET properties have the cocktail waitress order button on them? They have that on the machines in Atlantic City - both slots and VP - and they actually promote the use of it. I guess they find it easier then having the waitresses run around.

I tried it out and it actually worked quite well. It's a digital display and you can actually order your specific drink on it and the waitress brings it up. I used it in the morning to order coffee w/ milk and sweetener while playing VP and I'd say after inputting the order in it only took a couple minutes for her to come by with my drink.

Harrah's Rincon has that and I never got a drink with it. The way they have been doing it has worked fine for 50 years. The problem is when money got tight, the CW was cut back. Less and bigger area's to cover for the one's left.

They have the drink ordering menu on the machines at Harrah's in New Orleans. We didn't discover this until our third day on our October trip. But they are not 100% either. I ordered a screwdriver and then waited for 40 minutes on a .50 triple play machine. With that kind of coin in I expect them to get me drunk! That's a lot of money in 40 minutes at the speeds I play.

The order never went through and I did flag a lady down and we re-ordered it and after that they came fast. But...those machines also make errors or orders can get lost. To be honest, I prefer the human system. You can't order Grey Goose from the machine you will get the well until the waitress checks your Diamond Card. It's not that I am some kind of vodka aficionado who can tell the difference when I am loaded or when the vodka is diluted with OJ, it's just that if I'm losing as much money as I normally do...they are giving me the good stuff.

However it is quite easy to tell the bad vodka from the good stuff when we are doing lemon drop shots (which my gf makes me do once a night to get the party started).

Where drink service is concerned in Vegas, slot pits are always hit or miss. Unlike my grumpy friend Beejay I have not experienced this poor drink service on the machines at the Bellagio but I am in high traffic zones at the VP progressives of .25 .50 or usually $1 banks that they have. In fact the last time me and my gf(BNK) where at the $1 progressives we literally had 5 drinks going at one point. Two screwdrivers, two Pina Coladas (Bellagio has the best) and one Strawberry Daquiri.

Beejay must have had a chip implanted while he slept by MGM for all the smack he's been talking on them lately and they are getting him back the only way they can. Through booze....

I understand the nature of transient slot/vp play. But if you are going to hunker down a $5 bill to start for a couple drinks goes a long way. Especially if you are ordering a fancy girly drink like pina coladas. Those have to be $12+ drinks at the B. After that we went back to $1 a drink.

I might also add, if the waitress doesn't have a tray full of drinks, or it's not 8-2 on a Friday/Saturday and she's clearly too busy, look her in the eye (not the cleavage guys) and talk to her a bit. A little friendliness goes a long way.

Okay, I've said too much. I'm out.

My girlfriend plays strictly penny slots with hardly any coins per spin strictly for the gaming fun of it - not a "gambler" at all. But she is a pro at getting drinks while playing. She just scopes out areas near where the cocktail waitresses pick up drinks and walk past. She's also very sweet with them and she ends up getting drinks more frequently than I do even when I'm playing at tables. I joke that she's the most overcomped micro-roller in the world with all the free drinks she gets.

By the way, the cocktail waitress may not be allowed to bring you two drinks at once (for a single player) but I've found they can bring you one alcoholic and one non-alcoholic drink at the same time so if you're gambling with someone who isn't drinking alcohol, have them order your cocktail as well as their non-alcoholic drink so at least you'll have 2 drinks and not have to wait as long. Just be sure to tip them appropriately for the multiple drinks!

It would be semi helpful if the name of the casinos would be mentioned in some of the posts. I frequent Boyd/Coast properties, and although drink service anywhere can have its ups and downs, I have no complaints. I usually tip only $1 per drink (rarely $2-$5 for extra special service), and getting all the "free" drinks I can stand and then some is the absolute last thing I have to worry about in Vegas. If the drink service isn't good where you're going, maybe you're going to the wrong places. :D

    Mostly agreed

Last July, my wife and I had a fairly bad time playing video poker and getting drinks at Aria and Bellagio (where we did, probably 90% of our play). We usually play $1 max bet on 3-5 hands, so 15-25 a spin. I was kind of upset a few times how long it took to get a drink, and would occasionally go to get my own.

I always started by giving the waitress a five when I (or we) first ordered, and then 2 dollars a drink after, so I thought I was being fair with compensation to the waitress, but it really didn't seem to help anyway.

I will say while we were playing craps at the Bellagio the Tom Collins came quick and tasty and we had a great time. The video games were a whole other story unfortunately.

We never play slots (unless I have 3 bucks left on a voucher and would rather push a shiny button than put 3 GWs in my wallet) so I can't comment on that directly.

I found the Wynncore to give us the best service. It's unfortunate how high their minimums are for 9/6 JoB or 8/5 BP because I really like their casino, but hate paying $5/hand one line.

:evillaugh Yes... Trying to get the first order in at Bellagio was not easy, felt like they only had one waitress working and she seemed to be going supersonic, when you heard "drinks?" she long gone...

Few times caught one and tipped, was ok as long I didn't move

My theory is CWs make more money working the tables. People at the tables, especially craps, have 1 or 5 dollar chips at all times. And if they dont its easy to get change. I find it likely that slot players have fewer one and five dollar bills on them than table players have chips, ergo a CWs will make more consistent money at a table.

Also, I have used the order screen at Rincon without any problems. I've ordered just a plain soda and she was there the next minute.
