I live in austin, and will be visiting Dallas in a couple of weeks. i know there are a few casinos on the tx/ok border. Can anyone with experience tell me which is the best?

i am sure the shreveport ones are better, but it would be too much driving to go over to LA.

    Thanks!

I have kids in Austin & Flower Mound, so I understand your question.

When I depart my son's house in Flower Mound, it takes me only one hour to hit I-45N & get to the
    Winstar Casino in Oklahoma.

Wu star is the first exit after crossing into Oklahoma. It is a huge land-based Indian casino with good VP machines, lots of BJ tables & a large poker room. No free drinks! Some kind of weird "fee" per hand for playing BJ. Oddly, I can't remember a craps area.

Shreveport has several casinos. All "boats" except the one at the horse track. No VP at horse track.
Takes me two hours to get from downtown Dallas area to Shreveport. I kind of prefer the Horseshoe .

There is an Indian casino, Choctaw Casino, in Durant, Oklahoma. Took me more than 1 1/2 hours from downtown Dallas. Choctaw was very nice & new. Spacious.

Correction: Winstar is reached by I-35N, not I-45N.

    Hope this helps a bit.

There are two major ones on the border or near, Winstar and Choctaw at Durant of the two Winstar would be my choice. Durant looks nice but of all the casinos in Oklahoma, and I have played damn near every one of them, Durant has been by far the worst play I have had at a major Oklahoma casino. As a former frequent Oklahoma casino player all I can say is good luck you will need it.

Winstar is a giant tent!! It is stinky and smokey and nothing like a Vegas casino. The poker room is huge and nice and full of locals. But there are tons of slot and machines as well as table games.

Choctaw is more like a Vegas casino. It is nicer and a actual building. It just has the Vegas feel to it.

I like Choctaw better but usually go to winstar bc the machines seem looser and more poker games going

I hit a jackpot on Star Trek Slots at the Choctaw on my way back north a couple years ago. Paid for my gas anyways. Winstar is Huuuuuge but was not able to stop.

We live in Flower Mound and it is a short jaunt to either casino -- we've been to both.

Winstar is HUGER than HUGE and is just crazy inside. It is fun but make sure you have a lot of time to spend in there. My husband and I were there for 4 hours and only explored about half of the casino.

Choctaw is more Vegas-like.....it's more upscale and smaller. Less of a zoo.

We had better luck at both of these casinos than 1 day in Vegas :) Make sure you get your players cards!
