Bally's at $50/night or Paris at $70/night?

I know these two are sister hotels and Paris is considered a step up. Just wondering if it's worth $20 more per night? Is it really a 4-star hotel?

BTW, these rates are for the most basic rooms in either hotel.

    Thanks! :nworthy:

Paris is like many steps up.. 3 star to 4 star hotel in Vegas is a huge difference. I would pick Paris. I can't even recall the last time I stepped foot in Bally's in the past 10 years... they just don't really have anything to offer. Even the older rooms at Paris are fine, and clean. Still has the modern modern amenities, big bathrooms.

Unless you really don't care about your rooms, because those hotels are connected and you can just walk over to Paris. I really think you would be much happier at Paris.

we have stayed at bally`s a few times in the south tower and the room was just fine and it was huge with nice big windows.

we have never stayed at paris but we have friends who have stayed at bally`s and paris and they were very unimpressed with paris.

It will be for us and the in-laws (we are treating them the trip). And we will be there for 9 days. Two rooms, 9 days, $360 worth of difference. By no means puts us out of the budget, but gives a little pause.

Now I am thinking about breaking up the stay a bit. First few days in Bally's and then move to Paris.

Being there so long it might not be a bad idea mostly because the hotels are connected although checkin may be a pain in the butt. Id ask for a late check out if you do split the days that way you can remain in one room until you check into another.

Ive stayed at Ballys twice and Paris once. I am no high end person but I found the South Tower rooms less then gross. The basic Paris rooms need updating as well but I enjoy how all the elevators are linked. You get out and the casino is right there and its a brief 1-2 min walk to the strip. $360 is a lot for so many days so it just depends. I am just more of a fan of Paris.

Our "home" is Vegas is the Paris but have also stayed at Bally's several times. Since you are "treating" the in-laws with the trip...is it a special occassion of any kind? If so, may be able to score an upgrade at either hotel. We've been lucky at Bally's and able to get a room that at least had new bedding and carpet. Since we always request a South tower for the view - we know the room will not be fully redone. We are usually upgraded to a Red Room or suite at Paris and love them. I think you will be good at either. Hope you have a great time!

$20/night extra would be right on the edge for me. For me, it would come down to how much is this out of the rest of my budget. $360 out of $1000 is very different than out of $3000.

I would most likely pay for the upgrade. The bed in Paris I thought was an upgrade. The bathrooms to me were a huge upgrade. I'm comparing the lowest end rooms at both places. I don't know if you are getting an upgraded room at Ballys or even if they are significant better.

I would have pause too at $360, but you are staying 9 nights. I'm assuming it wouldn't affect your budget for other things much.

Oh, I didn't know you were staying that long.. I don't know. I still would recommend Paris over Bally's...

IMO the only benfy of Ballys is that the North Tower rooms are about 150-200sq feet bigger then Paris.

I've stayed at Bally's prob 15 times. We stayed at Paris our last trip, a month ago. I didn't like it so much. I MUCH prefer Bally's.

Have stayed at both, Ballys much more often than Paris. Have always been comped. Prefer Ballys over Paris, especially if I had to pay for it. There is nothing special about the rooms at Paris and I like that Bally's rooms are larger.

Last two times we stayed at Paris I was put off by the fact they did not have the room type (King, non-smoking) I had requested months earlier. We were given 2 Queens, non-smoking. We could have had the King, non-smoking for a $40/night upgrade. That was a no-brainer as we could make better use of the $200 it would have cost us. I have heard this has become standard mode of operation at not only Paris, but other Vegas hotels.

Thank you everyone for your input! Sounds like both are good choices but Paris gets a slight edge even with the extra.

We have a lot side trips planned. A helicopter tour to GC; a day trip to Hoover Dam and Lake Mead; another day trip to the Death Valley. And we plan to drive down the historic route 66 between Kingman and Williams for one day.

So in the end, we have decided to break up the stay and spend the first 5 days in Bally's and last 4 days in Paris. We will be doing day trips on the first 5 days so the hotel won't be important.

I know the check-in check-out will be a pain in the behind but since we have plenty of time getting :drunk: hopefully it won't be too painful.

Not exactly a special occasion but it's the in-laws' first (and most likely last) visit to Vegas. They are getting on in age and don't fly well.

None of us is particularly picky about hotel rooms as long as they are clean. But I specially like the "Granny" feel many here are talking about regarding Paris. That would fit the in-laws to a T.

Hmm, that sucks. Speaking for myself, I prefer double-queen rooms. The only way to get a good night sleep is to have my own bed. But those rooms seem to cost more off the bat in Vegas.

But I will not be settling for smoking rooms when I specifically book non-smoking.

Well that is a good way to spread out your stay some at Bally's some at Paris, plus the older in-laws will like Paris. Paris pissed me off a few years back I was out on a comp and they stuck me on the lowest floor of rooms next to the air conditioning units and it was a handicap access room with all the bars and stuff falling off the wall. I complained but the front desk said they were sold out. I have since moved over to an MGM property......just make sure you get what you want from them...the front desk can be rude at times.

I would definitely spend the extra $ per day for the overall ambiance at Paris, especially as a treat for your guests.
