So, I have a trip booked to Vegas coming up in January and I'm trying to reserve my hotel room. I'm an MLife player and usually stay at the Aria, but the rates are astronomical for the weekend I'm coming so I'm looking at other properties.

Let me preface this by saying I have platinum status, and I usually play $75-100/hand blackjack for about 5 hours/day when I'm there (obviously not High Roller status).

I checked my mlife offers online and the MGM's 'special offer' would be $166/night ($500 total for the 3 nights) plus a $10 FB credit.

Looking at the MGM's regular booking site (i.e., no mlife offer), I can get the same room ('stay well' renovated room) for $350 total for the 3 nights.

Is it me, or is something wrong with this picture??

I've called the VIP number and the person I spoke with there says that the web offer ($500 for the weekend) is the best they can do for me -- they couldn't even get me the non-mlife rate.

    Weird.

Thoughts? comments? anyone else I should be buttering up? I don't feel like I am a high-enough roller to bug a host about this.

Give us the actual dates. There are some dates that are just terribly high. You can also check their online calendar to see where things are getting rough. big conventions can push comps out the window.

    I arrive Jan 10, leave the 13th.

I'm not looking for freebies per se... just curious why my special Mlife platinum offer is more expensive than the regular rates they're peddling to non-players.

    Is this normal?

I’ve been running into the same issue with MB the past couple of years.

I’d call VIP services to make my reservation, and I get an offer worse than the “25% off room rate” promotion on the front page of MB’s website that anyone can access.

Why am I (pearl/gold) not getting as good of rates as someone off the street? It feels like a slap in the face to me.

CES or Consumer Electronics Show, is January 8-11. One of the biggest conventions in Vegas if not the biggest. Just a bad time to be in town as rates are astronomical, even the IP/Quad (whatever you want to call it) was showing $60 a night on TR site when they usually pay you to stay there lol.

Ahh yikes. didn't think about CES when I planned my trip.

I don't mind paying the $150/night... just still can't figure out why the 'regular people' rates are more than the platinum player rates.

I'll just book through the regular website, instead of through milf.

Yeah it is still confusing as to why it is more expensive for MLife than standard rate. I am a Total Rewards guy because they seem to take better care of me than MLife. Not a high roller but take a few grand and play $25 Blackjack for a few days and never seem to get comped at MLife properties but always get comped at almost every TR properties. Even the 10th-13th when you'd be there, I am comped at everywhere but Caesars Palace. Anyways, enough with my rant lol. Enjoy your trip!

I'm probably the lowest roller on this board and I've been comped a total of five nights in the past 2 months at the Luxor.

I know it's the Luxor...but free is free.

Yea! I'm not a high roller either, and the rates on their website are always higher than any random promo code i can find. Not to mention the site NEVER works.

If you arent married to staying at Aria, maybe call a few other milf properties...

She has a number for each of her kids... and they cannot see each others rates/deals/offer codes(from what my MGM Grand reps always tell me)

The number for each is conveniently at the bottom of most emails.

I usually stay at CET properties and looking at Paris for Jan. 10-13 it's only about $300 total. Since you prefer milife, i see Luxor for Jan.10-13 at about $295 total. The rates are high (as everyone mentioned) because of CES...but i noticed that Jan.10th is high but the 11th and 12th are very reasonable like $55 per night and that's for an upper floor Tower room (22 and above).

This happened with me at the Golden Nugget. The "casino rate" quoted was $3/night more than booking through their regular website. I called to see if they'd lower the casino rate since the website was now cheaper, and was told "Well then, you should book through the website."

And that's why I haven't gambled at the Golden Nugget since.

Just when you got them figured out, they'll burst your bubble.

We tried TR for the first time last year. Had been Mlife people for years. We knew we had to pay for the room on the first time and we stayed at Caesars. Got home, and within two weeks, got an offer to come back; four nights comped at Caesars. We took the offer and when we checked out, we had played enough to also get a fifth night comped plus dinner at Margaritaville. After that, more than a year passed with the best offer being three nights at IP. Meanwhile, Mirage gave us two comped trips during that same time, and we hadn't been there for a couple years. I think they bait you in until you become a repeat guest, then it's gone.
