Hi all. I'm having such a hard time picking a room this time! We were comped via the Palazzo last time we were there which was 2 years ago. We generally stay at the V/P and that is where my comfort zone is but I prefer the P over the V and I can't find any decent rates for P right now.

    A little about us:

    • Coming in for a convention with the spouse for 6 nights.
    • like a nice room
    • prefer a room with a separate bedroom but not absolutely necessary
    • would prefer a good deal (who wouldn't?)
    • don't gamble all that much
    • I will meander and do some sight seeing and shopping while spouse is in meetings.

For our dates (6 nights) I have the following base prices: (yes, I know about the resort fee)

    Vdara City Corner Suite: $847
MGM New Tower 1 Bedroom: $904.50
    Venetian: Regular room: $813.28

Am I missing any properties that fit? Any advice or suggestions?

Where is the convention? You have three very unique properties, aside from each being quite nice accommodations.

Location, no casino in vdara, and resort fees(I know) are my first thoughts

The Las Vegas Convention Center is where the convention is.

V/p then I'd say, or MGM. Scratch off vdara because it is across the strip. Vp is so close, and MGM has a monorail connection. IMHO.

Yea, I believe I might be leaning toward V too. I really wanted to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. MGM just doesn't look overly nice and every time I've been there in the past the line to check in was obnoxious so it was at the bottom of my list to begin with.

For Vdara, I'd to try somewhere new and the corner suite, I thought, was a good deal. I was thinking he could take a tram to Bellagio then scoot across to the strip to the Bally's Monorail station? Too much?

    Thanks for your opinion!

Yes, too much. The monorails take a walk to get to and ballys is in the back of the property...

I would only do vdara if you are willing to cab it. To me it sounds like you're most interested In vdara...

Personally MGM is a favorite, but everyone has opinions so definitely don't stay there! Maybe check it out with an open mind? As in visit it while there...

We definitely like MGM's restaurants so that is a plus in their column.

    Much thanks!

I LOVE Vdara, we had that room it's amazing. The staff is great too. It's cool being in the middle of all the new City Center stuff and it's an easy walk to Aria, Planet Hollywood and Bellagio.

May I suggest a 1 bedroom suite or corner suite at the Trump? (both times we went we were upgraded to the corner suite, by tipping). It's very similar to Vdara, just decorated differently, and easier to get to. The room is about 200sqft larger than Vdara and has 2 full bathrooms. That's our new favorite place. I stayed there twice this year. The service is great. It's also much closer to where you need to be, your wife an walk to the Fashion Show mall which is great. Also a decent chance it'll be a better deal than Vdara.

That was my 1 bedroom corner suite at Trump. (lol that bathroom is literally the size of my apartment haha)

I'd veto MGM, just getting back from there this week, it as so busy, check in was a pain, it's hard to navigate and everything is really far.

Espicially for 6 nights, Vegas wears on you after a while, it's really relaxing to be at Trump and Vdara. It almost feels like home.

I don't really think Vdara is that far of a walk or that much off the strip. I stayed for there a convention at the end of September. The convention was at the Paris and it took me about 15-20 minutes to get there.

The City Center tram wouldn't really be much help. There isn't a stop at Vdara, only at Bellagio, Aria, and Monte Carlo. It would be more of a walk to take the monorail than just walk through Bellagio to get to the strip. From there I would say you could walk to Ballys and take the monorail to the convention center, or catch the SDX in front of Paris and take it there.

I think that's a pretty great price for the Corner Suite, and that's what I stayed in as well. The room was amazing, and the service was great. Anytime I needed something, all you had to do was call and they brought it right up. It was also nice to be able to pack a little light, and just wash some clothes in the in room washer and dryer. I know, laundry on vacation... but it was nice for me to pack a little light since I had convention clothes and then clothes for any other time. The view is also pretty amazing. I could see from the Rio all the way to more than half of the Eiffel Tower, then Cosmo and Harmon Corner.

One of the other great pro of Vdara is since it's smaller it has more of a laid back atmosphere. Once on the floors it isn't noisy at all at night in the hallways or anything. I really liked it there. But as others have mentioned it also has a $25 ($28 after tax) per night resort fee, just have to keep that in mind when you're figuring it out.
