Cargo pants are a staple of my wardrobe. Long and short.
    Gotta love the convertibles.

I read earlier in the year that they are still in style.

However, in a recent Hawaii Five-0 episode Dan was making fun of McGarrett for wearing cargo pants all the time.

Then I was listening to radio show today, and the host was making fun of Michael Jordan still wearing cargo pants in 2012.

I especially would like to here from the ladies. My girlfriend thinks they are "hot" but she might be biased.

I actually would venture my opinion it's the traditional bagginess of cargo pants that isn't so flattering or in style, not necessarily the pockets themselves.

I guess the real question is - do you care? Are you going to buy new clothing? If so, sure, go buy some pants that are more up to date and potentially more flattering on your body. But if you're happy (and your girlfriend is happy!!!) why change?

[spoken as a woman who had to get rid of the WHITE JEANS in my husband's closet when we started dating because he wanted to be Don Johnson in Miami Vice, even though it was 1998.....]

If they are so out of style, why when I google it, do I still come up with 8 million places still selling them. Who cares. Wear what makes you happy.

You can still buy brown shag carpet. Doesn't make it right:evillaugh

Availability of a product says nothing about whether or not it is "in style", which was the question asked.

Personally, I love a man in cargo pants - or shorts (think Tom Selleck/Magnum, P.I. :wink)

Cargo pants for the most part, I'd say so. They just look so bulky.
Cargo shorts are alright, though. I'd say if you care enough to ask, go to websites of stores you consider "in style" and see what they have to get a gauge of what is "in" right now.

    But wear what's comfortable!

My back health matters more to me than being in style. I've learned long ago that I can't carry my wallet in my back pocket, just throws off my posture. I rarely wear jeans, and mostly only if I'm going to be wearing a jacket I can put my wallet and phone in to (can't get my phone out of jeans pockets without hitting a button, sometimes hanging up on the call.) If I'm wearing dress slacks I usually have a suit jacket on, so that helps too.

Otherwise, cargo's all the time. Long or short, beige or not (I even have short cargo jeans with loose pockets), still cargo's. I prefer the Eddie Bauer ones, they aren't quite as construction worker looking as some others. I have some Levi's that almost look like I should be carrying 2x4's and drywall, but still acceptable for office work.

    I wear cargos.

Pretty much by definition that makes them out of style.

Small price to pay to not sit on your wallet or irradiate your crotch with your cell phone.

Even when they weren't "out of style" they were kind of out of style. For something to stay fashionable for any length of time, it needs to be a look that only fit, semi attractive people can pull off, and as utterly impractical as possible.

But that's also wonderfully liberating. Most guys don't have to worry about what's in style unless they are young and trying to get laid, or old, in shape (and trying to get laid).

During summer, all I wear are either khaki or brown cargo shorts, plaid shorts that match my shirt or basketball (Adidas perferably) shorts. Love basketball shorts, most comfortable thing made- ever.

My brother asked me this summer before we went golfing if they allow jean shorts where we were going golfing. I asked him if people still owned jean shorts.

You could just stay at Cosmo and claim you're wearing them ironically.

They are not the current trend, but I don't think they are out of style. They tend to look more sloppy, so it's more of a dressed down look. So you won't see at a bottle club. Now something like parachute pants are out of style, but since I stopped break dancing, I don't tend to wear them any more.

When I'm traveling I go for comfort and purpose. I wear cargo pants because they are great to store gear and crap, flying I go socks and sandals, b/c its comfortable.

I just started wearing cargo pants a few years ago. I keep losing stuff because of so many pockets. It can be embarrassing at the tables when you can't find your money. It only happened once and that was enough.
