Where should I stay for a friday night stay in April?

I am spending three nights at Planet Ho (Tues Wed and Thursday).I will check out of Planet Ho on Friday morning and head up to spend the day and evening on Fremont Street.

I have spent some time downtown during other trips when I have stayed on the strip, but have never stayed at a downtown hotel. I want to spend Friday hopping from one casino to another downtown and just want to crash somewhere when I am done, so I figure: why waste the cab ride back to the strip. I will be getting a 9 AM flight home on Saturday.

Money is not really an issue - I imagine any place I stay downtown will be less than what I would spend at Planet Ho ($184 for friday night)

    Any suggestions?

Freemont and Four Queens are good location. Golden Nugget are probably the best rooms DT. California has nice big clean room, but a few steps from the action. Plaza was recently remodeled but based on posts around here, the joint is having issues.

If money isn't really an issue, probably the Golden Nugget.

Fremont is central and the beds are very comfortable, a perfect place to crash before heading out to the airport.

    I'd say the Nugget.

We liked the Cabana Suites at El Cortez.

Last week we ate at MSS and asked if we could see a room, the concierge took us up to a newly remodled room. I loved their buffet and that room we were shown was very nice. I would stay there in a heartbeat.

Pool is not important. Cal is a little out of the way. I kind of want the middle of the action feel. So far, thinking of the Golden Nugget or Fremont.

Tel me about the D. When I was downtown last August, it looked like it was under construction.
...or manybe I just had a few too many Coronas

If California is too far out of the action, then El Cortez is probably right out, but here's somehting to consider... You can get a very nice room in the Cabana Suites at the El Cortez and then take their free Limo service to the airport when you leave. It's quiet ther because it is a little ways away from all the action on Fremont, and seriously, nothing downtown is that much of a walk.

Golden Nugget has very nice rooms......a lot of people stay in Rush Tower but really all the rooms are nice IMO - and not that more expensive than other DT casinos

Don't they have a resort fee that's kind of steep?

if you want old school - try the golden gate..

they have some new rooms/suites they have not long completed. The older rooms are right on fremont/main street and a little cramped though..

    My View

If you want something resembling the comfort and style of the strip - Golden Nugget.
If you want more of a "20 seconds from the room to the tables" hotel, try Fremont or Four Queens.
One of those three casinos - No matter what, for anyone's first time staying downtown, I always recommend the four-corners of Fremont & Second streets - aka - the heart of downtown gambling.

    Good luck!

I've always liked The Golden Nugget while staying downtown. Never stayed at the Plaza, but I have read some very nice things about it here at VMB.
