This might seem like a dumb question so please bear with me. What is the best way to "repair" your ADT if there is one. The reason why I ask is I just came to the conclusion that mine is messed up. I've been to Vegas 3 times over the last 20 months and have yet to receive any comped rooms (not that I'm expecting any being a micro-roller).

As you all know I took my mom there last month and I just checked her TR account and her rate calendar for December has the word comped all over it. In fact she's pretty much comped everywhere but CP for Sun-Thu for the entire month! I was shocked to see this so I asked if she remembered exactly how much she played and she said she lost $200 out of pocket but figures she put about $500 through the machines over the 4 days we were there. She just played slots and CP and Flamingo. Should she be getting these kind of room comps already?

My first trip I hardly gambled, I was too busy taking it all in but I did play a little. Second trip I played a few hours everyday but scattered over 3 CET properties. Can't remember what my coin in was. This past trip I put about $1500 through the machines over the 4 days. Obviously I've somehow messed up my ADT so what can I do to fix it?

It's not just ADT that determines your offers. CET has a crazy algorythm to determine that. Best guesses are that it seems to include your zip code, your age, sex, the type of games you play, length of each gaming session, number of trips per year, etc. The only advice I can offer, is don't bother using your card (or showing it anywhere) unless you plan to gamble for some time at that property during that day. If you stay on an offer then the casino knows you are there, and you should plan to do most of your gambling there, and try to spread it evenly over the days you are there. I think changing properties might reset your "day", so pick one CET property for all your gaming. Here's hoping that your offers start to improve!

At least locally, I find I get better offers if I just visit opposed to playing while checked into their hotel. Maybe it would help to stay with another chain and make time to do a gaming session at one of their hotels. I would also suggest calling to see if you are really getting your best rates online. Sometimes the computer is off. I can understand why the ADT is weighted down by the first two trips but if your play continues to resemble your last trip, your ADT will correct itself on it's own.

How many tier points did you earn each time, and how many days for each trip?

As to repairing it? Only way is to play more over less days, thereby mathematically raising the average.

Any chance your mom played more than she remembers?

Quite honestly, if you are only averaging about $375 coin-in per day, and on the Strip, you should not be expecting any comp offers at all.

For CET, that is more than enough to get comps at their lower tier hotels during off peak times, especially if that money was recycled. But the low play on the first two trips are dragging that average down.

As for mom's offers, that sounds about right if she was a first timer with CET. They will overcomp on their first offers out.

From my own experience it only takes a few hundred dollars played for a coupla hours to start seeing that comp sign start to show up on the calendar. I never used to play slots but I heard CET was good to their slot players so I dropped a few hundy into a $1 machine at the Paris. Shortly thereafter I saw the comp calendar. I'd imagine the algorithm is complicated but as far as repairing it like everyone says, concentrate play the days you do use your card for anything. Never hurts to give a call to see what they'll give you too based on your last trip, sometimes the computer is slow to catch the trend.

The thing is, its not about how much you "put through" the machines, as you word it referring to your gambling budget money, but how much play you get out of it.

If you log in to both of your accounts and check you should be able to see how many tier credits you have and that will let you know how much coin in you had while you were playing.

As an example of why this is relevant: if you and your mom both start with $100 and 20 minutes you are out because you played only $1 at 3 credits per spin, you might have only 30 tier credits... but if your mom is hitting little wins here and little wins there and playing well within her bankroll size (20-40 cents per spin) then 6 hours later she might still have $50 left and have somewhere around 300 tier credits. So for that you can't say "I played $100 through and my mom only played $50, but she is getting better offers!"

I went back into her account to check her Tier Credits and she earned 73, so he coin in was less than $400 for the trip. She played only slots and only played on the Fri and Sun of our trip so that might explain it. I played all 4 days and earned 481 TC. Like I said I'm a micro-roller and most of the was from VP.

Don't get my wrong I'm not expecting comps with my level of play it's just that I was shocked to see that she was able to get comps already and with very little play which led me to the conclusion that I've messed myself up on previous trips.

Often times I've seen a small amount of play for a new players club member that's not staying on the property result in "overcomping". The casino will throw out a comp to see what kind of player you really are. If similar low play follows the offers start to drop off.

481 tier credits over 4 days is an average of 120. Pretty low play in the big picture.

As to another comment that said:
its not about how much you "put through" the machines

That is wrong, or right, depending on the wording and what you mean to say.

It is totally about how much you put through, and it is NOT about how much of your money you spent. Two people with $100 to blow can easily get a very different "put through' numbers depending on wins along the way that are "put through" over and over. Terms like coin in are used, but it really means BETS PLACED. It counts the same if your original cash, or winnings that are "put through" again.

I know it's real low hence the reason why I'm not expecting anything. I'm just really surprised that comps are showing up for her with her level of play and got me thinking of where I possibly went wrong.

I guess I'm the one that originally used the term "put through" and I did mean coin in.

I agree, thats why what I said was: "its not about how much you "put through" the machines, as you word it referring to your gambling budget money, but how much play you get out of it."

I put it in quotes because the OP seemed to be using "put through" to reference the size of their budget, not actual amount of coin through.

So yes, playing $20 through once, like 20 spins on a $1 machine betting one credit per spin, isn't the same as playing $20 through a penny machine at 20 cents per spin over and over and over again until the money is gone where you might get $100-250 worth of play out of that $20

Are you sure you aren't looking at her Rewards Credits instead of Tier Credits?

Its just that if that is 73 Tier Credits that would mean she played (73*$5=) $365 through the slots over the entire trip.

-> On a four day trip $365 represents only $91.25 in play each day, on the average.

-> If she estimates she lost $200 that means she got almost no play at all for her money... where most people experience 700.00% to 1500.00% play for their money over the long term, her play would be the equivalent of 82.50% so thats only getting about 5-10% of her expected play out of her money

-> Most penny slots are now 40-50 cents to play at their minimum. If she was playing an average of 35 cents per spin it'd take her only about 260 spins to get to the $91.25 daily average play, even playing very slow that is still only going to take about 35-45 minutes to reach. Like, did your mom really only play for less than three quarters of an hour each day?

All this stuff about the total amounts played aside, what could be happening here is:
If your mom is a new signup they are going to know everything about her that is on her ID like age, sex, where she lives, etc. It is possible that all that info together puts her in a demographic where Total Rewards is going to "test the waters" with her and see if they can get her to come back and gamble more money.
IE: if she is in her 50s or 60s, female and lives in a zipcode where there is generally nice housing they might be thinking she is recently divorced or widowed and has a nice chunk of money from a settlement or life insurance policy and so maybe she needs a little help spending it... and so they are willing to "invest" a couple of nights in a free room to see if she pans out for the casino.

It could also be that if she is a new signup they might just be willing to see if they can hook her on Vegas with some free room offers and get her to come back and spend more in the future... whereas with yourself, it might be that they've seen what they needed to see out of you and your play might just not be interesting enough for them to chase after with comps and offers.

Your mother could also be getting "teaser" offers as a new club member.

Plus, buy-in doesn't equal coin in and she may have played more than you.

The best cure for ADT is time. Let old low/no play sessions expire from the system before playing at CET again. Don't know for sure, but have always had the feeling they also step up the offers if you haven't visited in awhile.

Playing at a local casino near you could help, too. Most of my vegas offers have come more from poker/bj in Windsor than anything I did in Vegas.

You want to reset you Total rewards offers? Step away from the program and come back a few months later. This is what I had to do in the past. I used to go to the Horseshoe in Indiana. I'd take my normal gambling budget of $300.00 a day and stop in a couple times a month. I would get all kinds of great offers at 1st. $25.00 in free play, free gifts like cameras, MP3 players and blenders, and comped buffets for me and a guest once a week every month.

So I started to go more often. But my budget couldnt handle $300.00 a trip. Thats $600.00 a month there. So I'd go grab my gift, eat my buffets, use my free play and make 3-4 trips every month instead of 1 or 2 but now I was only bringing with me $150.00 or $200.00. They would still get my $600.00 every month, but now my ADT took a kick in its face with the extra trips.

I stared getting 1 free buffet twice a month, $5.00 in free play and no gifts. So I stopped going, or when I did get the itch I'd use my brothers card. Grid no longer existed to them. After 4 months, I showed up with $300.00 and a month later I started getting all the goods again.

So yes you can reset your ADT, kinda, and just know that if they assume you will show up anyway, they will give you shitty offers since they dont have to entice you to gamble with them.

CET does tailor offers to demographics. Your mom is likely getting decent offers because she is older and perceived as having more discretionary income to spend.

As for repairing yours, the previous post is spot-on, stay away. ADT calcs take into consideration your last year of action. Wait a year and then give them heavy play at one property in one day.

It is very hard to understand. I have been to Vegas twice. I play only blackjack.
Went my first time and had a session last around 12 hours and won $6000. Other than that session I played no more than 3-4 hours a couple other times winning nothing. I received platinum status and had offers for 5 free nights to anywhere I wanted and almost any room.

So the next year I book my trip for 4 nights in the Augustus Tower (which I highly recommend). This time I am ready to put in a lot of long sessions. I put in probably 5 or 2-3 hour sessions losing every time but once. I lost around $3000 for the trip. My platinum status was to run out a month later anyway unless I were to regain the status on this stay.

So it comes time for my status to run out and I check how I was comped on my most recent stay. I am now down to a gold which is fine with me as long as I still get some offers. This was last March. I keep checking my offers. It seems the most I can get is some free night at Harrahs, or IP, or maybe Flamingo. And that is only if I look on the calendar. My offers only say reduced rates.

So in my opinion. If you are playing blackjack you have to have a long session which gets the pit boss's attention. And hopefully you are winning during that session with a progressive betting system where you are betting high amounts. Betting high amounts will also get their attention and will help alot. So that combination in my opinion is the best (long sessions with decent betting)

As others posters have said it may be better to hold off giving your card to the pit boss until you have had a nice session.

The thought of her being targeted because of demographics and the fact that she's a brand new player makes all the sense in the world! It just threw me for a bit of a loop. Thanks for all the input and suggestions.
