The best thing about Luxor is that you're connected to Mandalay Bay by a walkway of shops (called the Mandalay Place Shops). The escalator into the Mandalay Place Shops is on the left side of the Luxor casino floor, past the cage, and close to the Tender Steakhouse.

Burger Bar has decent burgers and sinful shakes (pic of shake my m-i-l ordered when we visited in October 2012).

Ri Ra is a fun Irish pub with live music some nights (pic of the Guiness guy and me on St Patricks Day, 2012).

There is a nice seafood (with good non-seafood items) restaurant called RM Seafood. The upstairs part is fine dining (degustation menu, etc), and the downstairs part is good food with a casual atmosphere. They are located on the Mandalay Bay end of the shops, next to the entrance to MB casino.

There are numerous restaurants in the MB casino complex. Some in the MB "restaurant row" are are undergoing renovation over the next few months including Red Square and Red,White and Blue. I haven't heard of any planned renovations on Lupo, Aureole, Mizuya, or Stripsteak. Here's a link to a map of the MB casino floor which may be helpful.

    What month is your trip?

I was just at a conference last week at Mandalay Bay, and stayed at MB, but a few other coworkers were in Luxor, so I spent some time there for the first time. While I can't comment on the rooms, the place was pretty cool... good selection of bars/clubs, restaurants, the gaming was fun (I play poker and craps) although not super high limits.... if either of you play poker, these were the softest most touristy tables I've ever played at.... easiest money I've ever made in an hour or two of play. The Pub was a cool place to grab a bite or a drink without breaking the bank, lots of TV's, full bar.

I stayed there in 2010 and had a room in one of the towers. It was very nice. I have heard that the rooms in the pyramid are getting pretty worn.

We've never stayed there but I would cause its a really cool place. Im sure the rooms are fine unless you are very picky which we are not. You stayed at Ballys which is where we stayed last trip and it got tons of bad reviews but I thought it was just fine and suited are needs well. Heck you dont spend too much time in the room anyways so as long as its clean thats all that matters.

Only thing I dont like about Luxor is the location, kind of a long walk to the center of the strip if that's important to you. Oh yeah and the nightly resort fee as well! Im sure you will have a great time!

Tower room I was comped at was a long narrow walk to it. It was long. The room was nothing special plus what I found wierd was no safe.

Pyramid rooms are every old and worn. You get what you pay for. Plus the resort fee is outrageous and charged on comped rooms.

I personally will never stay there again and I have a free suite in tower whenever I want the next year.

It is hard to put a price on being in the same hotel as the conference. It is so great to be able to run back to the room in minutes instead of half hour or more.

(be 100% sure the conference is there, as sometimes certain hotels are host, but meetings are elsewhere)

Luxor is fine! They totally remodeled the casino, bars, and all that fairly recently. The rooms are a old, but also fine (and it's awkward having the pyramid slant), the Tower rooms are more updated. But, the sideways elevators are fun in the pyramid haha.

Usually a younger crowd, because it's a resonable, and LAX is a fairly popular night club.

Carrot Top is a MUST see! So funny.

Also as said above you can walk to Mandalay and Excalibur which is nice! Then you could walk across to MGM or NYNY or Tropicana. Tons of great restaurants and a great casino at Mandalay Bay.

I mean it wouldn't be my first choice, but I can certainly recommend it.

Our home casino is the Luxor... we always get a tower suite and have seen the tower and pyramid rooms. The rooms are just fine (have to agree the pyramid rooms are worn though), the bathroom is one of the perks in the tower rooms as they are roomy with a nice soaker tub and separate shower. We have never found the walk to the room to long and the suites are generally at the end of the hallways, nothing like walking to the end of the Mirage or Mandalay halls. The rooms are clean and now have safes and flat screens as they have been recently updated. If Bally's suited your needs then the Luxor will; with exception if you are not a walker and want to go mid strip.

Dining options are deteriorating at the Luxor, in my eyes. If you factor in Excalibur and Mandalay Bay there are plenty of dining options nearby so finding something to your liking will be easy enough. :)

Agree with all said. I've stayed at MB and have found Luxor's dealers and staff to be much friendlier than those of MB and pretty much anywhere on the strip. Nothing fancy but fun, drink service is quick and there are plenty of affordable places to eat around. No matter what you like you will find something.

You're also fairly close to NYNY and MGM Grand, just a walk through the Excalibur and over a bridge or two.
