    So here's the story

I'm a Wynncore player since it opened and loved the property ever since. In fact the only other property I have stayed at recently is the Mandarin. I have travelled around to the other casinos when with the wife and played while there just never enough to really matter to them like at the Wynn.

This December my 5 close friends and I are heading back to Vegas and I've contacted the hosts at some various properties to see if they would match my offer from the Wynn. I am planning to give the rooms to my friends, but here's the situation, they arn't gamblers.

So the tropicana and treasure island have matched the offer and have fronted 4 nights each with a moderate amount of free play. Will there be any repercussions if there is little to no-play at those casinos besides getting black listed in the future for comps?

I dont think they will black list you but they do look at the numbers.

These are businesses that are built with the sole intent of making money.

If they reach out to you in good faith and get their hand smacked, chances are they wont reach out to you again or at least not at the same level.

To think they would would be to fool ones self.

If you are trying to pull a fast one over on a property by trying to get something for "free" knowing that you are not going to return any play to the property then you should not expect to get away with it without repercussions.

I'm trying to be politically correct here and not be snarky, but really why would you do this? :rolleyes2: Do you think that these properties "owe" you something? Sorry but this personally is irritating to me, that people can't be honest and upfront....

I also would caution you to real the small print as I know in the past properties were getting savvy about people doing this. When you signed your registration documents upon check in they had small print that said something to the affect they expect similar play as in the past as a condition of receiving the comp. In this situation that I just described you would end of having to pay in the end if you low rolled them. If you going to do this I would make certain that it is truly is an "upfront comp".

Do as you may but I believe in Karma and these types of things always seem to have repercussions that swing back around....oh well anyway good luck with your decision and if you do this I hope Karma is good to you......:evillaugh

Sorry, it's one thing to short play a property that is giving you offers based on your past play - that's bad enough. But it sounds like you have received offers on the promise of play that you will give, and plan on giving them no play at all. I guess if you can do that and think it's OK, more power to you.

Why don't just just see what kind of a deal you can get them at the Wynn.

When you no play marketing offers and stiff them, for most casinos there are no repercussions. But if you are calling hosts to secure these deals, they may want to come back to you to get the rooms paid in cash as the expectation was that you play for your comps. It doesn't happen often but they have the right to do it.

Do you really have to secure free rooms for your friends? There are so many great deals on rooms rolling out in December. It may work out better for you all to just pay for the rooms. TI and Trop may not be properties you ever intended to stay/play at but burning bridges just seems like the wrong move to make.

I am with Josie on this one. I have no problem with taking advantage of something they comp you based on past play (you already paid for this and then some with past play), but to reach out to them and then stick it to them seems like bad bad karma at best.

Do your friends know this is the game plan? They might not want any part of this. if you plan on personally giving these properties some play, I think you will be alright in the Karma Department.

I suppose I should have been more specific.

I have been established at each property for a number of years and have played in the past enough to warrant certain offers. Over the last few years I've focused my play at the Wynn and have been rewarded as such. Now with these pals of mine coming down, whom are all relative newbies and rather cheap, I have indeed sent out feelers to see if they would match my offer. I have made no promises of a certain amount of play to the property in the request, just a simple "Here's my offer from the Wynn, are you willing to match it?"

That being said, if the property is generous enough to match the property I most likely will attend, eat at the restraunts, drink at their bars and all in all provide a substantial profit. My question was that if for one reason or another I or my friends do not gamble, or gamble much, are there consequences.

I appreciate everyone's input, and thank you all.

Let me give you my personal experience -- no judgments please -- just take it for what it is.

I took a marketing offer from TI when they first moved away from MLife to get a free room for the wife of a friend who was in town at the same time as me. It was a basic room offer with just $25 in FP. I never intended to stay at TI again, so it seemed like a good use of a resource.

I used the freeplay, lost about $200 playing VP there and played 2 hours of craps. So I didn't no play them -- just low played it pretty significantly (although my actual losses covered the cost of the room.)

I've never had another offer from them. But then, I don't care.

I'm going to be in Vegas for NYE this year just as I have done many years before. However this year I invited a friend to Vegas. I called my host and asked if she could do something for me. She said that she would comp to my friend the room the 3 days that my friend will be in Vegas. I also advised my friend that he needed to gamble as I didn't want him to low play my host and then affect my relationship. I also advised my host that I spoke with my friend and he would play....she stated she wasn't worried as my play more than enough would cover my comps as well as his. I still don't feel that my friend should take the free room at the generosity of my host and then not play, this is the reason I spoke to my friend to make sure he plays....I know he will but I wanted to set the tone.

As far as the OP's original question, I guess if you are calling your host and asking for a comp, and then low play or no play....there could be repercussions.

Shit, if you are comping your friend's room, he should play on your card.

I do not know about TI or all of MGM, but every offer I receive from Venetian/Palazzo states in the fine print, even the communications from my Host, that the offer is based on similar play as historically provided, and if not I could be charged. Not sure if TI or Trop have this stipulation, but I would check.

    how

ive never gambled enough to earn a comp- but from what informaion i read on this board if you stiff them on behalf of someone else it will come back to deservedly bite you. :wink2::beer:

wife and i will spend approx $4000. on shows-drink- food-drink-more shows and drink each trip (11 nights)-gambling about $200 in total- so my tongue in cheek question is how can i get comps on my spend.:wink2::beer::beer::thumbsup:

Forget tongue in cheek, you can get (some) comps based on spend. I know at least the following properties give you players club points for money spent on their properties (show your card when you spend) Venetian/Palazzo, Caesar's group (Harrahs, Caesars, IP, Flamingo, Bally's, Paris, Rio) and Cosmo. You probably won't get a lot of offers based on that, but if you've got an account that has points you will probably at least get the bottom tier of offers, which is better than nothing. ;) And of course you get a small percentage back that way in "points".

as for the OP, why not just stay/play with your friends at the Trop, or whatever for this trip? If Wynn doens't know you're there it won't matter that they aren't getting your play. The Trop thinks they're getting a chance to show you why you should bring your business back to them. Give them a chance to try to win you back.

My offers from V/P don't say that, unless I'm reading it wrong...

Offer is expressly conditioned upon recipient maintaining his or her historical level of play as of the mailing date of this offer. This offer is intended solely for the person with the Grazie ID number referenced above. The Venetian and The Palazzo will only honor offers made to the intended recipient and will not honor any offers that have been sent or received in error. Proper proof of identification is required. Must be 21 years of age or older. Offer is non-transferable, subject to availability, and may not be used in conjunction with any other offer within a five-day period. Guest may receive multiple promotional or event offers. Guest is limited to two promotional or event offer reservations at any given time.

It is all in the wording - as to being charged for low play.

Part of that wording is to cover what may have changed since your last visit and the date of the offer. Maybe you were once a higher level player, and they sent an offer. Then, in the meantime, you visited a few times and became a low roller. At that point, they can change the offer.

As to getting an offer, with no changes and low playing - you should be okay. After all, they do not SPECIFICALLY say anything about that, or HOW MUCH you would be charged. Nor did you agree to a $$ amount for room, etc.

This is like the guy who goes in the brick and mortar camera store, tries out several cameras, talks to the salesman and then goes home and orders elsewhere online. Bad karma, especially by the OP's own description of his friends as cheapskates.

I suspect the high rollers on here would disagree, but

here is what i think and i've actually spent some time pondering the matter:

If you approach a host and ask for an offer or certain up front complimenteries, then you are expected to play and would be a total ****** for shorting the property and the host.

If, however, you receive an unsolicited invitation from a property which promises certain comps, freeplay, etc, which would almost certainly be based on prior play, then my feeling is that you have NO obligtation to play at all. Contrary to whatever fine print some places might like to post, you have already earned this comp based upon your play and this is the risk the casino is taking in offering you something upfront as an inducement. Similarly, when they refuse to bring you back in as a result, then that is the price you pay, but its your choice and owe them nothing under this scenario.

    My 2 cents.

I must be missing something with the camera store anology. This is called business and it's why they have SALESPEOPLE. They are there to sell and if you have walked out of the store without buying something then they did not succeed. People comparison shop every day.

I think what malibu is talking about is people who have already decided that they are going to buy online, but they just want someone to show them all the features and help them pick out the one they want then order it online, with no intention of buying from the store..
