    Greetings -

Hubby just received an offer in the US Mail, with 3 free nights, $125 in free play and $50 in M life Resort Credits. Weirdly enough, we mostly play/stay downtown, so we're not sure how this happened!

So, my question, if you would be so kind:

    1. If we book this, we get a comp "Deluxe Room' - what's our intended upgrade if we want a cool suite? Going on 12/16-24, with the first 4 days being on the strip.

Any thoughts on this from those w/experience? We never stay on the strip and have just visited the NY NY once for a little bit, so we're completely lost!

Thanks in advance for your help!

I posted this on another Vegas board and got NO reply, so maybe I'm not asking it correctly?

If you want a 'cool suite' then your option is to find a different hotel. Not trying to be negative. It just is what it is.

The low end suite at NYNY is the Spa Suite, but that's like 500-550 square feet, which is basically a big hotel room -- something that would be a regular room at one of the high end places. The Marqee suite is bigger, but it's still just a big room -- and for me this is the first level they have that I'd even call a suite.

I've never been in the Penthouse suites, but have heard from others they are nice -- but that's a lot of money in upgrades from where you are.

Also, the NYNY website does a very good job of showing each suite and what it consists of, so that's a good resource (unlike most websites involved with MGM)

the perk of these "suites" at NYNY over the deluxe rooms is that they both feature rather large hot tubs (as does the much larger ziggurat suite). we generally stay at NYNY when we have a large group of friends or family with us in Vegas, and we upgrade a comped deluxe room to a spa suite for my girlfriend's mother because she loves to relax in the spa / tub at the end of the day. it's about $30 per night for that upgrade. you might also get charged a resort fee, depending on the terms of your booking. if you call the NYNY casino marketing department to discuss the options, i suspect they might upgrade you to a spa suite at no charge during the time that you're there, which is traditionally a pretty slow time in Vegas.

The regular rooms are quite small - especially in comparison to the other MGM properties. They are, however, very clean and easy to access.

In terms of an upgrade, I would suggest a couple of ideas:

    1. Try to get the highest room possible - near the top of the Chrysler building for instance - they are 'regular' rooms, however, since they are located near the narrow top part of the building, there are only a limited amount of rooms per floor - sometimes only 4 rooms total. In addition, there are windows on three sides of the room, allowing a look both north and south down the strip. Sometimes asking the front desk is all you need (I had a host-booked Ziggurat Suite, and ended up as a solo trip, so asked for a regular room (did not need all the space) at almost the top floor - they had no problem (basically a downgrade for free).

    2. If you need more space, I'd take at least a Player's Suite - they have extra room (TV Viewing space) and two queen beds (along with a Spa tub). No extra 1/2 bath though. Generally located next to elevator (no noise though).

Good luck with the offer. I love staying at New York New York - the dealers, pit bosses and cocktail waitresses take good care of me!!

Fyi I just booked a 3 nt offer and the players suite is $90/nt more, exactly the difference between it and a regular room if paying.
