We're going to Florida next month, staying in Hollywood Beach. We're looking for "hidden gems"; places to eat that are really good and not too expensive.

It's actually our third trip to the area. We were rather unimpressed with most of the restaurants we tried on our other trips; most seemed to be either 1) Too expensive, or 2) Not very good, or 3) Both. The one place we absolutely loved and are looking forward to visiting again was a Cuban restaurant called Padrino's in a strip mall in Hallandale Beach. OMG, yummy food, big portions, and, at least 2 years ago, $5 mojitos! :) We like just about any kind of food.

Any suggestions for stuff to do if the weather is bad would be welcome, too.

Perhaps Sunny's Steak Hoagies in Hollywood as seen on Diners Dive's and Drive Inns. Taft street just west of 91. We were visiting the Hardrock and wanted to try something different. Everything is home made. We liked it and will go back.

I actually live in trump towers on Hollywood beach right in the area

If you're looking for good food similar to Padrinos check out Rocco's tacos and tequila bar in ft lauderdale.excellent food and drink for not a lot of money and a decent atmosphere.Council oak and Tatu inside the hardrock are both very good but not incredibly cheap.Downtown Harrison street has Alot of different restraunts and shops you'd probably like

Not sure your age range,I'm 25 so my idea of fun might be different. If its raining you can check out the galleria mall,it's really nice.Maybe visit hardrock it's always a good time with a few clubs and the casino. You could take a quick ride over to sawgrass mall,it's absolutely huge. Its not too far away in sunrise along with las olas at night. Its basically the ft lauderdale waterfront, bunch of bars and clubs with stuff to do.

Cheap drinks you can check out flannigans,it's pretty much a alehouse.you should beable to find them all over

Thanks for the replies; I'm writing these suggestions down.

03, let's just say I'm old enough to be your mother... ;)
