    My Trip Report

My partner of 9 years and I stayed at the Plaza from Oct 3-8. We met two ladyfriends (both straight) from Florida, and we saw Mike Hammer's show the first night. Then to Carson Street cafe for a late bite and down to Drink and Drag for some bowling. I had one cocktail.

The next morning we had breakfast at Hash House, took in the sights at Bellagio conservatory, rode the gondola at Venetian, then back to downtown for lunch at Chart House Golden Nugget and a nap.

That evening was Terry Fator at Mirage, followed by pizza at Plaza's Pop Up. Breakfast was at Magnolia's Veranda at Four Queens, after which our ladyfriends said goodbye and headed to the Grand Canyon.

The rest of the trip, my partner and I saw our final performance of Viva Elvis, played slots, shopped for new outfits at Fashion Mall for a professional dinner event the following weekend, etc.

We're pretty conservative and regular guys. Just posting this for balance. Different strokes for different folks. All is good, I think.

I agree Sam. We are all very fortunate to live in countries where we can make our own choices in life.

    Hi Sam,
Thanks for sharing your trip with us! Did you enjoy all the shows? The only one you mentioned that I've seen was Terry Fator. I thought his was great:peace:
So, did you have any decent wins? And how was The Plaza? Did they ever reopen Firefly there?

Glad you had fun! I will start looking forward to my trip after the election. Way too stressful, this one...

Good point, I'm mixing up my October trip with my August one. We go pretty frequently. Our other show on the October trip was David Copperfield. Thanks for pointing it out. As you can see, I'm going again tomorrow, and will be seeing Mike Hammer tomorrow night and Absinthe on Wednesday night (4th time). As for my impressions of the Plaza, I've reported on that numerous times and hate to be redundant, so feel free to use the search function. Terry Fator had changed greatly since the first time we saw it, so it was worth a second visit. Oscar's Steakhouse opened in the location where Firefly was. They still have their original location, but we've never been there. My partner made about $80 overall on the slots, and I was in the hole for about $20. As I said, it was a small trip. LOL... :peace:

I enjoyed him, and a couple of things were pretty awesome. But I wasn't as blown away overall the way I was with Rick Thomas, interestingly enough. Except for the final act, which was majorly impressive.

Saw Mike Hammer a couple of weeks ago. I was not expecting much, but I thought it was a very good show.

Agreed, it way exceeded my expectations. Will go going again tomorrow for the 7th or 8th time. It's always different - depends on the crowd that's attending.

Sam, other than the change in the skating team, is the Absinthe show any different? I attended last Dec, may go again in Feb.

Thanks for the TR. We are going in a couple of weeks--maybe we will check out Mike Hammer. I've been wanting to see something different!

    Questions

    Sam,
I've wanted to see Terry Fator, but haven't been able to yet. Where did you guys stay? I stay at Caesars, but am looking for a new property to try next trip. Thinking about staying at the Mirage. Is it worth the price? Would love to stay at Mandalay Bay. Stayed there?

Mandalay Bay is on the agenda for February (first time). I love the Mirage. We usually stayed at the Plaza downtown, but it is going downhill fast. We go for intimate and inexpensive, so El Cortez Cabana Suites is a new favorite.

    Thank you!

Sam, thank you. I spent time in Mandalay Bay. I find that on average, I spend a day on that end of the Strip. But, mid-Strip is wearing thin. Thought about maybe Hard Rock Casino. Anyway, I'm glad you and your partner had a lovely trip! Looking at Key West for Gay Pride in June now.

Another great visit, only two nights but lots of fun. Saw Mike Hammer again, then Nathan Burton yesterday at his new location (show unchanged) and Absinthe last night. Lots of changes there. A new, third pair of skaters, no high wire act, a new aerial straps duo (male female couple, both gorgeous), and a different lady in the bubble act. No tap dancing, but more of a burlesque style, much more entertaining than Angel Porrino and very very shapely (if you like that sort of thing, LOL). The show ended with the two "bodyguards" doing their hand-to-hand routine. Also, Oksana the aerialist was not present. Overall, very fun.

Will be returning next month for the annual Xmas trip, 4 nights split between Go room at Flamingo and first stay at Harrah's. Not sure yet about the Feb trip, but probably Feb 22-25 or thereabouts. Depends on which of my friends are coming to celebrate my 50th birthday, if any. They're spread out across the country and not sure if they can come at all, but want to stay flexible.

BTW, ate at Sugar Factory Paris after the show. Way overpriced, very small portions and the food was mediocre. Won't be going back. $16 for a veggie burger that was the size of a slider....
