I'm sure I'm over analysying things with rooms but here goes...our dates changed from early nov to late nov and we checked some rates for other properties and found some good deals....we are currently booked at cp Augustus room with hopes of fountain view. My husband wants most superior room, property, etc. cp has no food choices we are interested in except maybe joes crab and cp new Buffet. Looks like we will do most dining at MGM properties if that matters? Anyway of these choices which is the ultimate? The husband is a room snob but we also are doing a lot of high dollar dining and stuff this trip so can't go all out. Our choices are: keep cp Augustus room at 645 4 nights, change to aria deluxe city room 634 4 nights, splurge for palazzo 750 4 nights or Venetian 4 nights 745??

    Thanks so much for help......

Oh and ps...we've only stayed at MGM before.

I like the aria rooms slightly more then the Augustus rooms but both are pretty nice that being said every property you mentioned other the Caesars will be another 100 in resort fees for 4 nights so for 200 I would stick with Caesar's it has the best location of the 4 in my opinion and none of the rooms are 50 a night nicer and V/P are not anywhere near 75 a night nicer.

When you say you have only stayed at MGM before, do you mean the company or MGM Grand?

Anyway, V/P rooms are nice but you should know they are not true suites. One large room.

CP is not one of our favorites. Augustus tower is nice but a long ways from the casino.

If you are doing lots of MGM dining, then why not stay at one of their hotels. And, if you mean eating at MGM Grand - then I surely would not be staying so far away from where you eat.

Where will you be playing, etc?

Yes I meant I had stayed at MGM grand.

I've heard that v/p casinos are pretty tight and slots aren't great, we like to plays slots and video poker.

Cp Augustus does look nice and like the idea of the fountain view.

What's most important to my husband is a great room and ultimate wow from the whole resort.

Are you using a players card at each hotel for your rates?

I'm never stayed in the Augustus Room at CP. But I really liked the Aria City Room. Nice amenities and excellent service. Plus they have one of the nicest spas and lots of food options on site.

If you don't seem to mind eating and playing in other resorts, you may want to consider the Vdara Corner City Suite. They have a wow factor and sometimes they are reasonably priced. Plus there is easy access to Aria, Bellagio and Cosmo (where I would not recommend staying even in their Terrace Suite).

If none of the rooms had a view, it would be:

    1. Palazzo - best standard room on the strip, 720 sf
    2. Aria - very nice, fashionable, an MGM property, ~525 sf
2a. Augustus - roomy, nice, but the furnishings are kind of plain. ~600 sf

To be getting those prices, my guess is you're going the week of Thanksgiving or the week after, and mid-week. Which means you should have a pretty good shot at getting an Augustus room on the south-facing side of the building without paying extra. Of course, not being able to hear the fountain music takes about 75% out of the benefit of the fountain view, but if you're on a high floor, it'll be a pretty good view of the strip anyway.

Palazzo and Aria I think will still try to tack on $ for a view room (in the case of Palazzo it's a view of Treasure Island, in the case of Aria, a view across the strip).

I go through similar thought processes every trip. I obsess over saving a few bucks, then when I get there I spend money like a drunken sailor....lol...

I guess I would agree with some other posters that say stay close to where you want to play, eat, etc.

I would not pick Aria since it is a ways from the strip, and V/P does seem substantially more. So, I guess I would vote for Augustus Tower at CP.

I am staying there in January for the first time. I actually picked a comped Augustus Room over a comped Octavius room. Looking at the property map, it looks like the Octavius and Palace Towers are even further from the strip than Forum or Augustus.

Which has the easiest access to the strip?

Also I was using rate codes? Will I get a better rte using my players card?

Better with players card? Usually, yes. Are you logging in to see what you can get? Do you have many points with any of the casinos? If you are going to eat at MGM Grand, why not call and see what they will offer you? Do you have any comp offers?

As to easiest access to strip - clarify where you will be going on strip.

We have stayed @ CP Augustus (54th ? floor fountain view), Palazzo, Aria, and MGM Grand of the places you mentioned. Preferences based on our LOW roller status- LOL
    1. CP Very nice room large bathroom with jacuzzi tub and glass shower, very nice sitting w/ small couch and great bed. And not hearing the music only cut my enjoyment about 20% but I am a fountain freak. And if you check in at the Augustus/Octavious check in (off the Flamingo entrance) the line usually isn't long and you are right around the corner of the elevators. Walk to casino is about average in my opinion. Restaurant selection is good if you include the Forum shops area. And comps are probably the strongest on the strip for us (low roll).

    2. Palazzo Fantastic rooms (larger than CP) but we did not have much of a view. Nice casino about as tight as everyone else for slot play. Restaurant selection good if include the shop area between V/P

    3. Aria very nice room (hi tech with buttons for everything if I remember correctly) our view wasn't great but we were there on an offer . Restaurant not as good as 1&2 and smaller room and bathroom.

MGM Grand you said you've stayed.

I'd go with Aria, if I were in your shoes. I'm a bit of a room snob too. Caesars has never impressed me. And it's hard to explain, but V/P always felt like "fake" luxury to me. Like an imitation of how a low roller thinks a fancy hotel should be.

Aria is nice and I love their casino.

janda I am prejudiced toward CP because we always seem to get upgraded there. When we stayed in the Augustus (x2) we were booked for forum rooms and our last trip booked Forum and got Octavius upgrade. So I am probably not the most neutral person to ask. You can't go wrong with any of them but if you are looking for a return trip later off comps CET has been the best for us. I would go 1. CP 2. Palazzo 3. Aria All are beautiful in their own way. Have a GREAT time!!!

And nostress- I like New Balance LOL

    Aria vs Caesars

Although I do not personally do well in the Aria casino, if your husband is truly a "room snob," then Aria is probably the best choice. (As another poster said, Vdara would be a solid option as well.) It's as tech-impressive as anywhere, and I think the dining options at Aria are among the best in Vegas. The negatives include poor access to the Strip itself, though.

I have a feeling that you would also be very happy if you simply stick with the CP reservation that you already have. The rooms are a bit less "gee whiz," perhaps, but the fountain view location in the augustus tower is very nice. Strip access from the augustus tower is easy. And I have been impressed by the customer service from Caesars as it relates to a couple of recent stays in the Augustus and Octavius towers.

Sorry, if I this advice doesn't make your choice perfectly easy. Ultimately, you have to find the balance that works best for you in terms of location vs. amenities vs. ambiance.

Thanks so much for the help so far. Do you think the basic rooms at aria are still impressive over cp Augustus rooms? Seems like out of them all v/p are the only true 5 stars?

I suggest you go to youtube, there are plenty of videos for each type of room.

It will mostly answer your questions about what the rooms look like.
