Taking the wife for our 20th anniversary. We have stayed at the Encore in the past but want to try staying at the other end of the strip. Wife really enjoys a plush room. I would like to keep the room budget between 800.00 to 1100.00 for 5 days. I'm sure we will spend lots in other places. These 2 places seem to fit the bill. We are not huge gamblers. We like the cheap slots for fun and the drinks that come with that play. (Which by the way, where is the best drink service for cheap slot players like Us) We have enjoyed Bills and Casino Royale in the past. I do not think we will mind the walk from Signature unless we have a few too many drinks. We do enjoy the Irish bar at NYNY so may go there several times. Then we may just get a cab anyway. But if Vdara is much closer to strip and other Restaurants/casinos that may be better. I do like that the suites at Signature have the balcony and the extra half bath. Thanks for any help.
At the end of September I stayed at Vdara in a corner suite, and I can't say enough positive things about the place. The staff was all super friendly, and the whole non-gaming aspect was kind of nice at night. Not to mention at the end of a long day not having to walk all the way through a huge casino once in your hotel to get to your room. At Vdara if you want to cook your room doesn't come with any dishes, plates etc... You have to request them. They are free and they bring them right up, you just have to request them. At the Signature I believe this stuff already comes stocked in your room. The only other downside to Vdara would be the pool area, it's not that big and theres the whole "death ray" thing, but they have plenty of shade up for that by the chairs, but you could certainly notice it the time I was in the pool. The corner suite was amazing, and depending on your dates it would probably be within your price. It has amazing views, you can see the fountains, mountains, and more. The bathrooms were large and spacious and had a really nice shower. I left that hotel thinking to myself, wow I would love to live here. I know Vdara gets a bad rap because some people say it takes forever to get to the strip. It really doesn't though, you can either walk through Bellagio and come out right by the fountains, or you can cut through Aria. The walk through Bellagio wasn't bad because you walk past the conservatory, the cool ceiling glass sculpture at their check in, then you're right by the fountains. Either way probably took me no longer than 10 minutes to get to the strip. (unless I stopped to watch the fountains). So the closest casinos would be Aria, Bellagio, Cosmo. Hope this helps!
My wife and I stayed at the Vdara a few weeks ago, also in a corner executive suite. Room was very nice, couch and bed were uncomfortable tho. The blackout curtains did not make it dark enough to sleep in late but I loved the Keurig coffee maker. Either hotel requires a walk to the strip so just be prepared for that. The spa at the Vdara was small and almost like an after thought when it was built. Even the guy working in it said to go to the Aria for a better spa. MGM's spa is nice and comfortable so with that and the wife feeling more comfortable in the Signature, we will be staying at the Signature from now on.
Vdara is also a AAA 4 diamond resort. I don't see anything on the Signature website about theirs. If that kind of thing means anything to you. Someone else mentioned the blackout curtains...I will say that they aren't the best, especially in the corner suites with so many windows. I mean they got the job done for me and it wasn't a big deal because the view (I was on the 41st floor) was amazing. I could see from Harmon Corner all the way to the Rio in my room.
