Will most strip casios, if you get a players card, comp you to the occasional buffet if you are staying at their hotel for a week if you play table games at the $10 level for five or six hours a day? I avoid slots and mainly play BJ and craps. Thanks.

Would say it probably depends on where you staying, low/mid/high, some won't even rate you at that play.

    Have a look at:

    http://www.vegastripping.com/compcalculator/

Not anything precise but will give you a very rough general idea...

Avoid MLife & go w/ CET

MLife doesn't give you credit unless you are playing $25/hand (I don't know this from experience; just read it from a TR on another forum today).
If you go w/ CET, you likely will accumulate enough points to pay for a meal or 2--and then you will likely see many future offers for comped nights or reduced rates.
CET properties include Caesars, Planet Hollywood, Paris, Rio, Ballys, Harrahs, Flamingo & Imperial Palace. I recommend playing at the property you would most want offers from. (I listed them best to worst, in theory)
It really doesn't matter where you STAY this trip but where you GAMBLE--get player's cards everywhere and use them.
All this being said, MLife likes you to stay/gamble at their properties, then comp room/room charges based on the play of that trip. CET prefers to send out offers for your next trip--though, as I said, depending on how many points you acquire during the trip, you may be able to use them to pay for some meals.
Now if you are willing to stay off strip or downtown, you may find those properties more generous--they struggle a bit more to get traffic. BConnected has the most properties: Main Street Station, California, Fremont (downtown), Orleans, Gold Coast, Sam's, Suncoast (off strip). Most other casinos are just one or two in a group.

Better chances of getting that buffett at lower end properties (Excalibur, Luxor, Ballys, Harrahs). But really, just buy the buffett. Its only two hands of BJ. Just play two hands less (a couple minutes of play) and boom, there's your buffett. and unlike BJ, yoiu're guaranteed to win some food with those chips

I have to say in my experience I disagree with this. If I play the exact same amount of table games at comparable CET and Mlife properties (say PH and MB), I usually will have much more express comps on my mlife card than points on my CET card.

I would wait for a comment (possible) from Dewey as he has stayed multiple times for AT LEAST a week (although not at any one hotel perhaps) and can give you insight into your best play. Congrats for avoiding the pitfalls found in many newbies who go for the strip and glitz alone without concern for locales where good gambling may be the theme (although you will run into a much older (generally) crowd than the strip. Good luck!!

This is blatantaly false. You will get rated for $10 craps at just about every MLife property -- not sure about B and Aria, but certainly all the others.

How likely is it that a player at a $10 craps table will only bet $10? Not likely. And a pit boss taking your card doesn't mean they rate you for $10. It's possible that the pit boss doesn't rate you at all or rate you for $25. If you go to Mlife's website, it specifically says that there is a minimum betting requirement for table games and tells you to "see the supervisor in the pit for assistance."

I've seen pit bosses take players cards at $10 and $15 BJ tables (likely for accounting purposes where the player changed $100). I've also seen pit bosses tell players that the minimum to be rated is $25. What I don't know is what happens when a pit boss takes the card from a player betting $10. My guess is that either the player doesn't get rated at all or is rated at $25. It's not that the latter scenario benefits a player all that much.

There are actually physical signs posted at MGM that state table play is not rated when under $25

If you are looking at CET props - get a card anyway as many of their restaurant venues give preferred pricing to card members. Often it may only be $1 difference or a couple - but obviously that adds up over the course of a week to be enough to pay for a meal. They also provide discounts at some of their retail outlets (gift shops). Not sure if mLife does this or not????

I find it less confusing to charge all meals to the room - then I apply the comps at checkout. Lots of disagreement as to whether you end up paying sales tax on it this way (your original receipt for room charge will show the tax) - but it also prevents any issues with deducting comps from the card. (I had a problem late one night where it wasn't registering but in fact charged it 3 times - luckily I could see all of this on the TV screen - by swiping the card I wouldn't have been able to see it or realize it was missing if I was playing a lot).

Mike - you have been a regular here and should have read the many posts that say you generally have to be playing at a higher level to get comps. Also, staying a week really does not mean much to them. They want to see your play.

Excalibur, Monte Carlo, Excalibur, and possibly even NYNY and MB will rate players playing less than $25 a hand. You won't get much in the way of comps, but they will rate you.

The pit bosses have no idea if your staying a week or a day....and don't care....they go completely by your play $$$$$ per hand.

Last time I was playing at Monte Carlo the pit boss said they rate BJ at $15/hand and up. And pit bosses at Mirage and Aria told me they rate $25/hand and up.

Afer that I always just assumed Monte, NYNY, Excalibur, and Luxor are $15, everywhere else is $25.
