First time NYE and going to be the first time even entering the Flamingo. I have never even been inside Flamingo. But I got a rate of $188 a night for Dec 30-Jan 1st. So did I make the right choice to book Flamingo for an easy walk into the party on the strip NYE? I booked a Fab room.

I don't know if that is a great rate or not but Flamingo is one hotel/casino that is very easy out to the strip...justa few steps and you will be right in the middle of the action! Hope you have a wonderful time!

    Thank you:)

I couldn't find anything that was under $200 a night on the strip that's located dead center. I'm not sure where the main part of the party will be on the strip, but Flamingo seems pretty centered on the strip. I tried Monte Carlo, NYNY, Pho and MGM but were way to expensive. I wanted City Center, but the prices were outrageous, everything there was upwards of $1000+ for a two night stay.

As far as location, the Flamingo is tough to beat. The Fab room will be a clean place to sleep, but do not expect much else. I usually stay in the GO rooms; they are MUCH nicer. However, being NYE and given the rate you got, I would not complain too much about it.

The Flamingo is not the greatest casino/resort but definitely adequate and is where I always stay because of its location. You will be in a great spot for New Years! My biggest suggestion though is to position yourself in front of the Flamingo for the countdown fairly close to the doors. Once the fireworks end the strip is insane, the crowd is so heavy that you end up going the way the crowd goes. I did it once and there were many girls crying because they were being pushed around. It was a little scary to be out of control, finally made it off the strip and hit a back alley back to my hotel (which I wouldn't recommend). I am happy I did New Years once but would never do it again, alcohol prices go through the roof, the casino bars take away all the stools so you won't gamble and expect free alcohol and the biggest thing is that if you don't have a room key to get into a casino you aren't getting in which makes it a little sucky when you need to get to a restroom. There are outhouses but those were occupied by college kids who were standing on top of them. Expect to pay at least $6 for a Beer. As I said before, very glad I did it once but would never do it again!

You got a very good deal

$63/nt over NYE??!! As said before, Flamingo is nothing special, but will serve the purpose.
    Have fun!

NYE in Vegas is a blast. I've not done the strip always a hotel party.

We just got back from a week in a Go Deluxe in the Flamingo and really had a blast.
The location is perfect and the rooms were too.

I think the OP said they paid $188 per night, not total. In any event, a good deal for NYE. Flamingo is right in the middle of the insanity. Be ready for it.

I second this. A lot of people don't realize that on NYE you cannot go freely from hotel to hotel. I stayed at the Flamingo back in 2001 for NYE and went out on the strip...not far from the Flamingo doors. It was packed of course and I really couldn't see many fireworks anyways. When it ended they only allowed you to come in through one door and they were checking keys. People are drunk and everyone has to pee so it became a stampede situation that got pretty dangerous and panicky. It took about 20 minutes to get in with everyone pushing and shoving...and I was only about 30 feet away from the door.

The next year when I did NYE I just stayed inside the hotel. I won't do NYE ever again though. It's the only time of year I don't want to be in Vegas because you lose your freedom and it's incredibly crowded...and since I'm not a huge partier or an excessive drinker that time of year just isn't a great choice for me.
