Hi everyone! I'll be staying downtown over the Thanksgiving holiday, and while I would love to spend 12+ hours a day gambling, that's just not going to happen. Can you suggest things to do during the day that don't involve a pool, watching sports, or going more than a couple blocks off Fremont?

Now that I've completely tied your hands (haha), thanks in advance for your help!

Check out the Golden Nugget pool at night. And go around to the backside of the aquarium, you get a much better view of the sharks that way.

Just wander Freemont street and watch all the activity (light shows, bands, costumes, and ladies in mini skits riding the zip line).

Eat a burger at the Heart Attack Grill.

Check out the million dollar display at Binions.

check out all the casinos downtown, including the spike and el cortez.

Take the shuttle to the premium outlet mall (5 minutes away).

Take the deuce to view the strip or just take the bus all over vegas.

Take the boyd shuttle to sam's town. From there take the shuttle from sam's town to harrahs. Take the harrahs shuttle to the rio. Or the bills shuttle to the orleans or gold coast.

From sams town visit the cannery next door.

visit the malls, the bus goes to the old belz mall (now another premium outlet mall).

    mob museum. neon boneyard.

    take bus to silver nugget.

rent a car and drive to the valley of fire, or Red Rock canyon, or other casinos in the outlying areas (M, GVR, red rock station, etc.). Or drive to hoover dam and the bypass road. visit that store by the valley of fire, buy fireworks and set them off at dusk.

so much things to do I never run out of things to do in vegas.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! It'll be good to step away from gambling for a couple hours if I'm hemorrhaging money!

I like to explore the forgotten areas within the properties, places that are unused, forgotten, and waiting to be found. It's perfectly okay to wander these areas, too. Plaza, Binions, Neonopolis, the Lady Luck construction area, the rear of Vegas Club (now being used, along with the second floor, for Screamont Experiment), etc.

Here's a sampling of the photos I've taken:

Check out the Emergency Arts building down by the El Cortez. There's a coffee shop, a zine library, and art gallery and the burlesque hall of fame. Surf the happy hours on weekday afternoons/eves... 777 at MSS 3-6 (except mondays) Mickie Finnz 4-7, Downtown Cocktail Lounge (if you can find your way in) 5-8. Grab a fried twinkie in the back of Mermaids.

Hang out in the Parlour Bar inside the El Cortez. Excellent people watching, fine drink service, and your $ goes a long way.
