Just started playing mini-bacc recently. I usually bet tips occasionally for the dealer. The first session I played, I paid commission on the dealers tip when betting the bank. On my second session, a dealer told me I don't have to pay commission on tips. Heading to Vegas in a couple of days, can someone more experienced tell me what is the "norm" in this situation? Don't want to give the casino more money than is necessary! Thanks.

You shouldn't have to pay commission on a dealer bet, at least not on a small one. Put the dealer bet beside your own, and point it out.

I don't know what would happen if someone put up, say, $10k as a dealer bet.

It depends on the casino, but the general rule is that dealer tokes are NOT charged commission.

I'm curious what casino you were at that told you a dealer toke was charged commission?

Chuck- I was once playing Bac at Caesars with a guy betting 25k a hand. He would put the dealers up for $500-$2000 on a long bank run we hit, and it was not charged commission. I asked the floor guy just out of curiosity, what level they would start taking commission on dealer tokes. Floor guy said never, unless maybe it reached the 100K mark.

First played this game just a couple of weeks ago at local Caesars. We are not talking much money on my dealer tokes. Table I was at was a minimum of $15 to a max of $15k. My bets averaged from $25-150 per hand. Dealer bets were either $5 or $10 so we are talking about a very negligible amount of money for the commission.....I just want to know the proticol.

Just make it clear that the dealer bet is a separate bet, as opposed to stacking it all in one stack and then giving the dealer half the winnings.

Ask the dealer about the commission up front before you make the bet if you want to be 100% sure.

Just to be clear, the dealer bet was "beside" my bet. Dealer positively knew it was a dealer bet, as in all cases I was verbally thanked before the hand was dealt. I guess in future, I will simply ask before placing the bet. In won't stop me betting for the dealer regardless, however I may wait until I make a player bet rather than a banker hand.

    Thanks for the replies!

most places the dealer bets are not charged commission. however, i was at one casino where they did charge the dealer commission. but either way you shouldn't pay it on top of your bet for them. if you bet $5, the dealer would pay himself $4.75 and put that plus your $5 in the tips. any dealer that is putting $0.25 in lammers on your commission for his bet and dropping $10 in the tips is way out of line. i would never tip that dealer again.

I'd think it's like betting the 4 for a dealer in craps. If you put $5 on the 4 for yourself, you get $9 because it's a place. When you put it down for the dealers, it's a buy, so they get $10 and don't pay the commission.

Shifter - I don't know why I didn't think of that (taking the commission out of the original bet). They didn't use lammers where I was playing, they just asked for the commission amount after each hand. Took me a while to figure out I was paying the commission on the tip.....I was spending all of my brain energy trying to figure out when the player pulls a 3rd card....lol. And since I was ver new to this game and not sure of the rules re the commission, I didn't speak up. Next time I'll know better.

Thanks everyone for the responses. FYI, it's only because of all of you VMB members that I even bothered to learn this new game......just what I needed.....another addiction! :poke:

that's weird. i've been places that didn't use lammers, but they just take the commission out when they pay you. if you happen to have the change to pay the commission, you can put it out there and they will take it and pay you the full amount, but if you do nothing, they take it out themselves. never been to a place that forces you to pay the commission each hand, but pays you the full amount first and then asks for it.

I've been to 150+ casinos and only one casino I've been to did it like that. It was some shit hole outside of Green Bay, WI. It didn't matter the bet size or anything. Every hand I had to pay the commission...they wouldn't take it out automatically. I told the dealer to take it out and she said she wasn't allowed but could give no reason why the rules were like that. After a nice streak I was up I left the table never to return to this dump. God I really hate shitty Indian casinos.

Now that I think about it, this place charged the commission on dealer tips as well. One of the very few places that I've been to that did that.
