Are there any good bar-b-q places on the strip?

    Short answer: No.

    Long answer: Hell no.

And yes, I'm being serious. The mass food production the strip requires does not lend itself well to quality BBQ.

I've heard great things about the bbq at Ellis Island, which you can walk to from the strip (behind Bally's).

BBQ is a cuisine which is soooooo subjective!

We like Memphis on Warm Springs.

You may or may not. :)

EI serves ribs with BBQ sauce, not BBQ. Tasty for the money, but not BBQ.

Lynyrd Skynyrd BBQ at Excal is decent.

Never tried their BBQ, but it closed a few weeks ago.

PopMegaphone called in the first response. For BBQ you have to head to North Las Vegas and try John Mull's Road Kill Grill.

I predicted the Excalisuck place would close fast, but not that fast.

As seen on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. We tried to get there a couple of weeks ago, but it was too far off the beaten path.

I lived in Kansas City for 5 years and St Joe Missouri for two. If someone like Oklahoma Joes or Arthur Bryants ever opened a Vegas restaurant they could retire in a year. I could only imagine the business it would do. It would IMO have to be a stand alone or in a strip mall, not in a casino.

Bryant's has a branch in the KC Ameristar and it appears to be doing quite well. I would guess that it would work equally well in almost any mid-scale LV casino as well.

The reason I would take it outside of a casino is to get more families into it. There are people out there that won't take their kids into a casino, even to eat.

Makes you wonder how a real BBQ, with a couple of good smokers, would do in a place like Monte Carlo. I agree with Pop, Ellis is not really BBQ but I do enjoy it.

You really need someplace like Gates to open a place on Koval. I personally would prefer a branch of Lexington #1, but what can you do?

The challenge with making good BBQ is consistency. That'd be tough to do with the volumes the strip requires for a place to be profitable.

Ardee, your reference to Gates... that would be perfect. I grew up eating that in KC.

But on the other hand, there are people like me who wouldn't go outside of casinos, even to eat.
