OK, so---this is going to be super strange---but I have always *dreamed* about staying at Las Vegas Club.

Now that I have gotten that out of the way, and your mind has been blown, I would like to briefly describe the situation.

I have one $26 night at LVC for Jan 1 (which is a hard day to find cheap for some reason lol), and two $16 nights at IP for the following dates. I LOVE IP--in fact, it's my fav property in Las Vegas hands down. I love old charm--pure magic. And visiting LVC has always been something I wanted to do because it reminds me of the IP of downtown. I love the old-school LOOK of the rooms too.

But there are some major problems with LVC:

    1. I am not even sure if LVC will be open for jan 1 because it's not yet on the website calendar (since most days are blocked off for LVC). I got my reservation from priceline. Apparently they are doing renovations but who knows?

    2. This means I may be asked to move over to Plaza...but I have no interest in Plaza whatsoever. I have never visited this property but the looks of pictures of it does not excite me.

    3. Moreover, if I move over to Plaza, they will charge me a $10 resort fee, which is ugly since I love the thrill of the deal.

    4. Plus, it's kinda like why bother, right? If I visit LVC now (just like IP), what happens if I love it? It will soon change.

Anyway, now Fremont is offering me a 3-day comp that could eliminate my need for both LVC and IP. But if you read my March experience with Fremont, I think I may have said I would not go back if they paid me. smh. LOL Yet, mentally I can't get over this "Free" notion lol. Still, I can not overstate what the old-school vibe (like IP) does for my Vegas heart! *SWOON*

    What do I do?

Keep your LVC reservation AND take the Fremont comp. Since the fremont offer is based on play and the LVC isn't, give most of your play to Fremont/Boyd. If LVC tries to move you to the Plaza, just refuse and stay at Fremont. Otherwise, check into both and sleep at LVC if you like it as much as you think you will. I would drop the IP if you're paying for it, but if you are willing to head back downtown just to check out of the Fremont after you check out of the IP, then you could keep that as well. Then you can crash downtown or strip, whichever you like for two days.

I like this idea atom. But I am curious what happens when a property moves you to another of their properties but you refuse, do you still lose that 1st night's deposit?

I agree with atom's suggestion. I would be hesitant to book at the Las Vegas Club without a back up plan. We had a room booked at LVC about 5 years ago. The elevator ride was sketchy, the hallways were dark and dingy and the room was far from clean. The whole situation just didn't feel right. Luckily we had a room at the 4 Queen's for backup. I haven't heard of any renovations in years, so I doubt it's any better now. We used to get offers from the Plaza for our choice of rooms either at the Plaza or LVC, but they stopped offering LVC rooms as an option at least 3 or 4 years ago. I think you are right about booking there and then just being shuffled over to the Plaza. Has anyone on these boards stayed at the LVC in the past few years?

If you really want that old school vibe, I'd go for the Golden Gate. The rooms are small, clean and old fashioned charming. If you get a room overlooking Fremont, it will be noisy at night, but you can look out your window and imagine what it was like back in 1906, when Fremont was just a dusty street, filled with men hoping to get a lucky break in this new, one casino town.

If You arrive at LVC and they shuffle you over to the Plaza, they will likely not hold your deposit if you refuse. If they did I would contest the charges through my credit card. They are not honoring your original reservation, so they have no right to keep your deposit.

I have stayed there many times in the last couple of years. They have replaced all the carpet in the rooms, and maybe the beds, but that is about it. It works fine for me, just a place to sleep for a few hours, and the option to use the Plaza pool. If I was going to spend any time at all in the room, I would not stay there.

I dont care for Fremont either. The rooms are very nice, but mine was very claustrophobic, and lack of self park is a real deal killer. It is about my last choice on Fremont St, besides Golden Nugget....but thats a whole different story :).

I stayed at LVC last summer, and after one night in the south tower and it's ridiculous single elevator, I complained and was moved to a very very large room in the north. It was clean, comfortable, and almost felt posh by comparison. I believe it's the only tower currently in use, too, so a stay there should be quite acceptable. I was there last weekend for the SCREAMONT attraction and checked to make sure the check-in desk was operating. It was, and there were guests in line. The entire back half of the casino has been stripped of all slot machines, the restaurants and gift shop are closed, and it is very bizarre and eerie. I'd absolutely stay there, just to enjoy the weirdness and novelty factor.

Thanks everyone. LOL @ booker. @sam, now i am excited! LOL @cousineddie, the food was grosss, the room made me feel claustrophobic. It seemed just too dark for my taste if I remember well. It did not scream Vegas for me. I just did not care for it. I liked the casino though. Nice casino.
