In most places I realize it's one of the biggest party nights of the year. However, Vegas is usually slow the week of. Has anyone partied on Thanksgiving eve? What was it like, what clubs, bars etc... would you recommend? My wife and I will be there that week (leaving Thanksgiving morning :vomit:) but wanted to see what other people experienced.

Huh? What are you talking about... this "one of the biggest party nights of the year?"

Thanksgiving in Las Vegas is busy but its almost all families. Basically all those people that can take a four day long weekend come to Las Vegas since its the last holiday they get, outside of Christmas/New Years until next spring.

And a lot of them will be patrons of the smaller casinos that have built up points through their weekly grinding of a few bucks, so its loads of low rollers, even at the high end places.

And kids everywhere, even at places that you wouldn't normally expect loads of kids.

Thanksgiving Day itself the buffets will all have lineups that can run upwards of 2-3 hours and there'll be lots of football action in the sportsbooks.

Families? Kids? really? I assumed most families went to grandma's house for Thanksgiving. But, hey, good for them!
I assumed more of a foreign crowd and more single people. Low rollers I am cool with, I am one myself...I guess there will be some nice drink specials to go around!! :drunk:
    Thanks for the info.

Thanksgiving is not that big in Las Vegas. I will be in Las Vegas for Thanksgiving and have been going there for Thanksgiving (and Christmas) for several years.

What's a "Big" holiday in Las Vegas is relative. As far as holiday rankings go - Thanksgiving is one of the tamest in Las Vegas and has low visitor numbers. Both Memorial Day and the 4th of July average about 30% more people in town than Thanksgiving. Room occupancy during Thanksgiving runs about 85%.

I'm not saying it will be easy to get into the popular restaurants and clubs. The ones that book up on the weekends will do so on Thanksgiving as well - that's a given. Plan accordingly and, as always, if you simply just HAVE to be in a specific restaurant or club - make reservations.

I have not been there Thanksgiving, but have been to Vegas for Xmas the last 2 years and trust me.....It's when Vegas is at it's slow point. I mean there are a lot of people but just families and stuff for the most part. New years eve(OMG CRAZYYYYY TIME YEAR AFTER YEAR!!!) is probably what you are thinking of.

I realize what he is talking about. Thanksgiving eve is one of the top three busiest nights for bars and clubs in the mid west as everyone that is home for the holidays goes out the night before the big feast.

I dont think the same vibe extends to Las Vegas.

Yeah, me too, cap. We used to always tear up the clubs on Thanksgiving eve as my buddies would be in town or home from college, back in the day.

Mongo, I've been going the week of Thanksgiving for about 10 years now. Thanksgiving even tends to find the clubs pre-Thanksgiving with really nice size crowds-enough where it's busy, but not that superpacked crap you get on the typical weekend.

There is absolutely fun to be had Thanksgiving eve. I'll probably be hitting Lavo again this year. Last year, Coolio was there and I got to meet him and get me and my wife's picture taken with him. Surrender had their first annual Thanksgiving Eve bash last year. (Not my kinda crowd, but it might be yours.) Ghostbar does and annual eve thing, too. I suspect Hyde at Bellagio will have something going on, since they're so new.

It's a good time mongo, without the grief of superbig crowds, but not dead, either. Matter of fact, we always laugh when it gets dark cause you can see a steady stream of headlights coming from the west from the SoCal people driving into town who are hitting the clubs Thanksgiving eve.

Glad a few others knew where I was coming from

It's definitely a plus not having super crowds. Probably also better drink specials and door men are more relaxed.

Thanks for the club suggestions farkingidiot . Maybe I will bump into you somewhere...

I will definitely have to see whats going on at Surrender, Lavo, Hyde. Maybe hit a few hosts up to see what kind of deal I can swing.

Thanks for all the great info, everyone.

If you are looking to party, you should definantly think about signing up for one of the club crawls. We did two of them on our last trip and they were an absolute blast!!!

    http://www.groupon.com/deals/vegas-rockstar-vip-4?c=button&utm_source=newsletter&s=body&sid=11272561&utm_medium=email&pt=&utm_campaign=vegas-rockstar-vip-4&utm_content=all-deals_las-vegas&date=20121011&p=7&division=las-vegas&user=9ee228e61b32865c146e734fd8478468296bc54f2d17fe7d15e838f69e811312

They have a deal on groupon right now, for about $25 to $49 a person depending on what deal you use you get VIP access to 4 clubs, no waiting, discounted drinks and have "hosts" to ensure you have a great time.

If you do the two for "$89" you get a ride on the party bus with open bar. I can tell you that was one of the best parts about the last trip on the bus, the crowd had a great time with the stripper pole on the bus. I used to do bottle service, but this was 2x the fun and a tenth of the cost!!!

This is all good information. I will be in Vegas for the 10 days before Thanksgiving and will be leaving on the last flight out on Thanksgiving Eve (count me as another that hadn't heard that before).

By us it's called Black Wednesday, in fact pretty much all around Chicago it's known as that. I always thought it was just known as that everywhere, kind of funny to hear that most haven't even heard of it, and that it doesn't even extend into Vegas!

The best description of the night before Thanksgiving I've read was this.
