you can almost guarantee that any of those name brand slots like the ones you mentioned are the worst paying slots around. the best paying slots are generally the 2-3 credit old school reel slots at the $1 and above levels. the non-name brand ones like double diamond, top dollar, etc.

That is a wide open question.

Back to your question. Are you asking which ones pay most often, or pay the most over the long haul? For example, even if Megabucks was set to pay back at 99% (probably closer to 88% in reality), it would still be a loser for most people. After all, it has to take in LOTS of money to pay out the millions of dollars to somebody.

Machines with lower jackpots will tend to pay out more often. Probably the best example is a machine you rarely see. It is a dollar machine and has only ONE winning line. That line pays $100. So, if set around 90% casino hold, it needs to take in around $110 for each payout. Over the long haul, if the bet is $1, it will pay once every 110 pulls.

Then there are machines that pay often, but at very low amounts.

I've had great luck with the 2 credit, $1 Blazing Sevens machines.

Every time I have played Reel Em In: Catch The Big One penny slot with max bet of $3 I have usually hit a bonus round and made a couple $100 on it. I am for sure a winner on that machine since I found it over a year ago. My wife and I both love it. I wrote a a trip report about it if you care to read it.

For those progressive reel slots, do you play/insert extra coin? Very few people (rarely) hit the jackpot, and the extra coin just become a waste. Your experience and thoughts?

I always play the 3rd coin... The key with the 1k progressives, unlike other jackpots, is that they do hit! Those machines will usually hit by 1199, and reset to 1000..... The odds are far more calculated.... The jackpots are smaller, but they hit often.

IT'S NOT SO MUCH AS WHAT BUT WHERE.

Best area is the Boulder Highway locals joints, and the quarter level actually pays better than the dollars. Second is Downtown, at the El Cortez.

Other that that it's North Vegas but most tourists never get up there. You can hit the Boulder Highway by going East on any main drag, such as Flamingo Blvd or Sahara.

    East Side Cannery
    Sam's Town
    Skyline
    Joker's Wild
    El Dorado (Henderson)
Rainbow (next to El Dorado on Water Street in Henderson)
    Sunset Station
South Point (S of Vegas strip)

There are many banks of slots advertising up to so and so Beware these are gaffs. Usually only one machine pays and you never know which one it will be.

As always we recommend you learn Video Poker.
