Table Games SHOULD Have Been Asked To Leave The Table

The "Asked To Leave The Table?" got me thinking about times people should have been booted, but mgmt. didn't

At Harrah's, Reno, perhaps 20 years ago, I was playing BJ and the guy next to me was beyond abusive to the employees. He was betting most hands near the table max, and he kept losing.

His strategy was so wrong it was bizarre. When he would lose, he would verbally abuse the dealer and the pit critters, but he kept getting more $$ and they let him keep playing. NO dealer should have been forced to endure the abuse this guy gave them. When they switched from a female to male dealer, not only did he still mouth-off, at one point I thought he was going to hit the dealer. It was a very uncomfortable situation and was one of the main reasons I stopped playing at Harrah's Reno.

 

Every time I have been booted it was for a pretty good reason.

 

I think that helps to explain things. Losing big buys a lot of slack!

 

Drunken co-worker in Vegas for a vacation, hit 20 on BJ, it was 2 face cards!

They cut off his drinks, but let him continue to play.

None of my talking to him that it was time to quit did any good.

 

I have seen a lot of dealers that love a situation like that. There is a fun feeling of justification by taking their money and throwing it in a bank. (Including me)

But I have also seen many a critter tell a player "I dont care how much fucking money you are playing, say that again.....and you are gone".

The Player involved and the casino will always determine the outcome.

 

Personally I'd have left. If someone is abusive to a dealer (or conversely, if the dealer is a dick to a player) more than once I'll walk. I don't need that kind of stress.

 

There have been times when I personally have been extremely obnoxious, and I have a tendency to be loud. Luckily, I never seem to play at tables with people who are too serious about their gambling. If I were on the other end of me sometimes, I might think about giving myself the boot. I would probably drive myself crazy.

 

I am loud at the craps table -- mostly in a funny, lighthearted way -- and would likely get booted except that I tip very well.

 

I dealt with the same situation yesterday.After I got may ass handed to me
at 1-2 no limit by getting beat by pocket aces over my pocket jacks I stupidly
decided to play the ultimate texas hold-em table game.I got onto the second
position and the guy to my right was a total jerk.Nothing but non-stop abuse
to the dealer that was filled with profanities.Personally I wanted to elbow the
POS right off his chair.IMO he is/was a total idiot who was down substantially
on the day and kept hitting the ATM with the idea of getting back to even.
The dealer was an asian gal(and a pretty one at that) and if he had uttered
and racial remarks I pretty much would have decked him solid.

I ended up switching tables just so I would not have to be seated not only next to him but even at the same table.If you cant afford to lose it then dont gamble it is my credo and it is just plain assholish behaviour to treat
a dealer like that who has no control over the cards/game.

People that act this way should be shown the door and be told that
their patronage is not needed.

 

A few years ago I was playing blackjack at IP with some friends and a drunk at the table was losing big and every once in a while he would throw his losing cards at the dealer. He was warned on several occasions but not thrown out eventually he got so drunk he actually passed out at the table and fell face first from the stool to the floor and stayed asleep. security came over got him up and escorted him to his room.

 

years ago at Mandalay Bay i was at a table where a guy playing very large amounts and was getting his ass handed to him. he was completely out of his mind with rage at the dealer. she was clearly losing it and was trying to cope by smiling which was making this asshole even madder. the pit boss came over to try to calm the player but i couldn't understand why they didn't just boot his ass. i don't care how big your bankroll is, there is no need for that kind of action. i think pit personel should just take over dealing at the table and have the abuse directed at them to see how the dealer is feeling.

another time the anger was directed at me personally, but in a sneaky kind of way. i was playing three card poker and was on fire. one of my superstitions is to keep each denomination of chip in one pile. well the dude at third base was losing huge amounts of money, i was the only person at table winning. anyways, this guy is glaring at me so after every hand, he is smacking and pushing the table, obviously trying to knock over my tower of reds. i just placed a finger on top of my stack and smiled at him. i think the smile just made him more mad. my thought was screw you asshole, i don't root against other players. if i'm losing, i'll eventually get up.

 

Years ago, when card counting was just becoming known, I was playing BJ at Slots-of-fun. Didn't know how to count but was feeling pretty good and bought into a game for $300. At that time their limits were $2 to $300 per bet. I was betting $25 a hand and getting attention from a gal who was the supervisor. I played for about an hour and was at $250, down $50. I decided to have a few drinks at their bar, so on a whim, I put down $50 in cash and my existing chips on top of the cash. Go for broke I figured. Well I won and cashed my chips in at the cage by the bar. As I sat down, the supervisor came over and told me I was through for the day. No explanation at all. I just let it go because I wasn't in the mood to play any longer. Then, after two drinks, the bartender got the word that he could no longer serve me. I left in total disbelief. Later I figured she must of thought I was card counting and that justified her actions. I'll never know for sure because I was miffed and ready to move on. I wasn't in need an explanation.

 

i like to do that, too, but when one stack gets really tall, it's good luck to break it into 2 stacks. then you can build those 2 stacks equally tall and break them into 4 stacks, etc. i've gotten to 8 stacks doing that before.

 

shifter, it was a massive stack of reds. probably close to $1000 or more. my finger on top of the stack was up to my chin or so. the madder he got the better my cards became. was hilarious just because he was acting like such a dick.

 

When they start referring to you as "Terry Watanabe".

 

I'm actually a generally quiet player, but when I have a big bet out and I draw some crap hand, I will often yell 'bust! bust!' at the dealer. Sometimes they find this very surprising, since I haven't said a word for the past hour

Almost every dealer takes this in stride, but one became particularly flustered and I had to explain that it was all in good fun.

 

I usually like to play by myself because of the faster action and I play a little bit away from basic strategy. Of course, this is at a 10 dollar game with like 3 other tables that are empty as well. I go on this streak and build my stack to like 1k from 3 hundred buy-in. I think crowds see a large stack and then want to sit next at my table even though there are 2 other empty ones. I dont mind as i return to basic strategy and then I felt the action was too slow after 3 shoes.

So I move to another table over which is still empty, and guess what.... the table of people moves with me!!! lol

 

Guess my last post wasnt really relating to topic so here is one.

There were three people at a table: a couple and myself. The couple just colored in and were about to leave, so I decided to play a 500 dollar hand at a 10 dollar table basically my winnings at that table. I was hungry, the count was good for me to play big, and the dealer kept saying you should have bet it all when he said so at the very beginning after switching dealers (one of those dealers that believes he is almighty with luck and suggest how much to bet). Then the girl decides that she wants to play one more hand with me..... I gave her that look of why.

Of course, I lose, she wins and dealer has 17. If she didnt play, I would have had 20, and dealer would have had 18.


Geez

 

i'd have pulled my bet back so fast she'd have gotten whiplash.

 

I've been in similar situations a few times, and darned if that one extra hand or one "hit an run" hand by a passerby does not mean a loss is coming my way. Usually replaying the cards (in my mind) show that I'd have won if not for that last minute change...

Oh well!
