Aria Buffet Renovations?

I see on the Aria website that the buffet is closing October 15th for renovations. Does anyone know how long this closure is scheduled to last? Any info would be appreciated.

Interesting. I hadn't heard about this; my only contact with the Aria buffet was when I went a week after they opened, and I was wholly unimpressed.

 

Its going to take a lot to improve that dump.

I love Aria more than I can ever describe, but the buffet was just unspeakably bad. Terrible food, terrible presentation, terrible seating.
Just awful.

 

Wow, I must have gone to another Aria buffet. We've gone at least 6 times, and have always enjoyed it.

Darn it, this will still be closed when we go to LV in December.

 

I agree! I actually liked the buffet - hope they don't change too much.

Does anyone have a link or information to any of the proposed changes?

 

i went in June with my youngest son on the weekend with the half lobster. I enjoyed it. i thought with the wine service it was a value.

 

For the price, I always thought this was the worst buffet in Vegas. Maybe I can have some cheese to put on my salad now.

 

The design of the buffet room was simple, sleek, and contemporary.

I happen to like that type of design. Most people do not.

 

Aria buffet has always been one of my favorites. I wonder what they are changing? I always appreciate the fact that they mark everything that is gluten free as I have not found another buffet that does that.

i ate there and i liked it. i dont know what people complain about with the decor. who cares its a buffet.

i dug the big ass glass cups they gave you.

 

If baseball stadiums are used in comparison, I liken the Aria buffet to a place like the Cell (White Sox stadium) in Chicago. Sure it's relatively new and functionally sound, but it lacks the quaintness and fan-friendliness of sites like Camden Yards and San Francisco's ballparks.
Though the Cell is serviceable as a baseball venue, it will never reach the lofty heights for fan enjoyment as other stadiums built around the same time that have unique architecture features.
I think that's the dilemna the Aria finds itself in. When the buffet was first designed and constructed, management thought they had something pretty special, much like White Sox officials also did. However, once it was up and running, the end result did not match up to expectations.
By now, the key players over there have probably come to the realization that flaws existed in not only the original planning, but also in things like logistics, service, menu offerings, etc. If the Aria wants to be considered on par with the Wynn, Bellagio and now CP, the suits had to take steps to renovate.

 

Seriously, how old/new is this place? And they're renovating it already? Don't they have bigger problems to deal with? (coughHarmoncough)
