Just received a snail-mail offer for a $199 pp trip to Harrahs Laughlin. The $199 includes return flight on Alegiant Air and the choice of either a Wed-Sun or Sun-Thurs stay at the hotel. All taxes are included.
Has anyone ever taken advantage of this? It sounds too good to be true. Hell, air alone to Vegas from Calgary is more than $199 one way!

I just returned from a trip and my flight was comped on the charter along with my guest. So no... it's not too good to be true.

Sounds like a great deal and now, with the peak summer heat receding, it's an ideal time to go.

I drive from L.A. when I travel to Laughlin or LV. I had reservations at Harrah's Laughlin for this coming Sun-Thur but I had to cancel due to a health problem. The total cost was $89 for 5 nights. That's a lot less their room rates were in the 1990s. Seems like Harrah's has really gone on the cheap. I haven't stayed there in a long time. It used to be the nicest hotel in Laughlin but I've read some recent reviews saying the place is getting kinda run down.

I've done it a couple times but my entire trip for me and a friend was also free so $199 seems like a scam to me! Although you are right, it is still a good deal. Normally when yo can get a flight from YYC to Laughlin you are looking at $750+.

As long as you have reasonable expectation of Laughlin you will be fine. It is about Vegas at 1/4 speed maybe less. It is purely a gambling town.

I wrote up a couple trip reports under "Gaggles" if you care to check em out.

I saw some packages being advertised in the daily Minneapolis paper about a month ago for trips to Laughlin from MSP. Round trip air and a hotel stay at Don Laughlin's Riverside casino, $259/person RT. They have to work harder to get people to come and play at Laughlin, so they have to give you cheap room rates and super cheap or comped airfare.

A co-worker goes there every winter because it's much cheaper to golf around there. But yeah, there's not much to do other than gamble. Harrah's has a modest pool and a beach, the only hotel with a beach on the river, but the water is super cold, even when its 110 degrees in the summer. Not ice cold, but not warm like you'd expect. My feet were slightly numb when I stepped into the river. It took a slow, determined descent into the river.

There are occasional shows at some of the casinos, Harrah's has an outdoor amphitheater, but most days you'd be lucky to find anything that passes for stage entertainment.

I receive these offers to Reno and Laughlin, always comped. I'm sure all their offers are based on adt.

We've never gone because it's usually for Sun - Thur. I would do it but that's too many days in Laughlin. I've thought about renting a car and going to LV but don't know how closely they keep track of you.

Thanks to all of you who responded to my post...I appreciate your perspectives!
While it's tempting to just go and relax by the pool (made even sweeter when the temperature is falling below freezing at night at home) I think four days is a bit too much to spend in Laughlin.

I keep receiving the offer but it is totally free. I really like Vegas but not sure I'll like it there.
