We have an 8 night trip coming up. The latter 3-5 nights will be at Paris as that is the "conference" hotel. We don't visit often enough to rate any comps; however we have received some decent offers from Palazzo, Ballys and Bellagio. I currently have a mix of ressies in these four places and I need to pare down. Palazzo was first - 3 nights with dining discounts for $605 (incl tax and resort fee). Then Ballys was in the mix - 5 nights for $465. Finally the Bellagio offer of 3 nights for $562 (incl tax and resort fee). The final nights will be at Paris for $119 per night.

My question is Palazzo or Bellagio? Which offers the nicest basic room? Best bang for the buck? We have visited both but not stayed at either. The Palazzo offer includes discount at Valentino's and First Food. We arrive on Friday and would move to Paris on Monday. We will be interested in catching some football on Saturday and Sunday. I doubt we will have time for spas over the weekend (that will come later) so spa facility is not a consideration. A mix of nice dining options is important - options being $$ to $$$$ - we are staying 8 nights and can't do $$$$ every night.

Which would you choose and why?

i don't really have much to say about the P or standard rooms in general, but i will say you can't beat the fountain view at the B.

    Hmmm....

I'd say Bellagio & Palazzo are fairly similar. Bellagio gets points for being more central, Palazzo for larger rooms (500 sq. ft. at Bellagio, 700 sq. ft. at Palazzo).
Normally I'd choose Bellagio for central location, but since you will be staying central strip later in the week, I'd choose Palazzo.
We stay at Ballys a lot, but it isn't even the same category as the other 2--for the price difference, I would choose one of the other 2, also!

Bally's is average, Palazzo and Bellagio are above average, what type of atmosphere do you want to be in?

If you're making your decision based on the room alone, I'd go Palazzo over Bellagio.

In terms of overall atmosphere, I would say Bellagio is more hustle & bustle/grand central station, whereas Palazzo is typically less crowded & a little more laid back & peaceful, which makes it a bit more relaxing of a place to stay - Palazzo always feels a little more upscale to me because having to walk through a throng of gawking sightseers every time you want to go somewhere is not my idea of an upscale environment. So I guess it depends which atmosphere you prefer.

But, if you're already staying at Paris as well this trip, since it's directly across the street from Bellagio, I'd agree with the other poster that you might as well stay at Palazzo for a little diversity of location.

Also, we've eaten at both Valentino & First Food and found both to be very good [I'd actually go as far to say Valentino is excellent, one of the best upscale Italian places in Vegas].

If rooms are the most important, Palazzo wins.
Bellagio has a better location and way busier casino.

My candid suggestion is Bellagio. Picasso and Olives are my favorites (they are $$$$ or $$$). Snacks is a nice causal eating place, located next to the Bank nightclub. I love their Salmon Burger (about $11.95 and it's so delicious)!

I understand your concern of low cost dining places ($). You can find cheap eats and McDonald's at Monte Carlo's food court. It's easy and fast to take City Center Tram from Bellagio to Monte Carlo.

Jilly is spot-on for room and location, so I'll only add this. For dining options also remember that the Palazzo connects to Venetian. That gives you two Grand Lux's to choose from and Venetian's outstanding food court for 24 hour $ - $$ dining options. I prefer the overall atmosphere of the Bellagio, but agree that the Palazzo is more relaxed. Either way, actually, you won't go wrong.

Side note : You mention Paris as the "conference hotel". Double check as to where actual events are being held. I say this only because sometimes the "HOST" hotel vs events are not the same. Maybe you already checked this out.

If they do have events at Ballys - that won't be an issue - right down the hallway to their conference center.

Thanks everyone! I am thinking that Palazzo may suit us best. I appreciate your comments.
