Input appreciated on halloween in vegas

hi all,

we have been to vegas countless times but never in late october.

Is halloween time pretty entertaining?

we have read about frightdome,screamont at vegas club,the special halloween nights at madame tussauds and the new goreatorium by Planet Hollywood and it all sounds great.

the stage shows and special shows on the canopy on fremont look pretty
good as well. also has anyone been to horror nights at universal and how does frightdome compare?

I'm going as "Prince Harry In Vegas" this year, hoping its warmer than last year.

I was supposed to go to Universal this year, but that didn't happen... partially my fault.

I have heard only negative things about Frightdome. I am told if you don't buy a $50+ VIP ticket you have no chance of seeing all the haunted attractions for only $36. It seems that this attraction is priced with the idea that you're paying for the amusement park and added haunted attractions. The reality, you'll never actually realize the value of all that, unless the park is empty.

From what I have read, the wax museum's Halloween gimmick is just that, a gimmick, not worth paying a premium for or choosing over other options. YMMV.

Vegas Club haunt: new this year, and I'll be interested in hearing reviews.

Two "local" haunts are Freakling Bros. and Las Vegas Haunts.

FB is a bit expensive, and more so with VIP ticketing, somewhere between $35 and $40. VIP tickets does save you a bunch of time, however, and that's worth something if you're on vacation. Unique shows that are worth paying for once in your life.

LV Haunts has had two attractions that were together in North LV. Not quite as innovative, but good shows at $25 per VIP ticket. This year they're splitting them up, one in North LV and the other downtown. You can buy a combo ticket, but they're definitely valuing the downtown haunt at a higher rate. Not sure if that means they're putting on more of a show or just charging more, either to cover higher operational (leased space) costs or because they expect they can pad their profit with a built-in tourist audience. Unless early reports are that their new downtown location is off the charts, I'm not inclined to drop $20 to see it. It's a good show, but not $120/hour good. (The attractions in the past have been about 10-minute experiences for each.)

It's a regular costume party on Fremont Street on Halloween night.

I'm going a week late, gonna miss all the fun. I'm not a big organized party type, but I did enjoy the heck out of seeing all the even naughtier than usual costumes on the waitresses

 

Note that there is actually two Halloweens this year in Las Vegas: you have the actual October 31st which is officially Halloween and then you have October 26th and 27th when the hotels, casinos, clubs and bars will be having their Halloween parties since the actual Halloween is in the middle of the week.

The weekend part is going to be drinking, drinking and more drinking for most people. You will see lots of people in costumes up and down The Strip, Downtown and in all the casinos. The clubs will be having parties with celebrity hosts and most bars will have ticketed parties.

The actual October 31st Halloween will still have some stuff going on, but not as much as the weekend prior. Downtown will have their Halloween parade and you'll see lots of people in costume still (actually you'll probably see people in costume for a few days after as well).

Overall its a pretty fun time, but then any time in Las Vegas is a pretty fun time

 

I'm gonna be there for both!! Guess I am going to need to bring multiple costumes!!
