    Hi everyone :)

With my next Vegas holiday approaching it's time to get a room booked.

I was going to stay at Excalibur again, but they have DOUBLED their prices and also they said they don't do birthday upgrades anymore :(

So I have narrowed my strip hotels (that are reasonably priced) to The Stratosphere and Tropicana.

The thing is though, for the price of a basic room at the Tropicana, I could have a suite at the Stratosphere.

So which would you chose? Basic room at the Trop or higher end room at The STRAT ?

Please think of this from a HOTEL ROOM perspective. Yes I am aware that the strat is at what most people these days consider the "wrong end of the strip" but I will have a rental car as usual so don't care.

Also don't care that the Trop has posher restaurants than the Strat etc etc

    Thanks everyone

I would say there is no reply to this thread...

You have pretty much said it is entirely about room, not about things like location, restaurants or amenities, therefore you already answered your question: the suite at Stratosphere.

I've always had a soft spot for Stratosphere. It is located in between The Strip and Downtown, the prices there deliver great value, it's not too big yet has good restaurants (etc.) and is a comfortable place to hang out in.

As Auggie mentioned before it sounds to me like youve already answered your own question but if it were me I would pick Tropicana as ive only ever been in the strat once and that was the first and last time I think ill end up there again, only JUST above Circus Circus in my eyes and the shittiest of shitholes on the strip, I hear their new rooms are rather nice tho but to me anyway you cant polish a turd! :nono:

I've stayed at the Strat 5 times and have always found it to be excellent. Visited the trop as well last trip and was very impressed with it.

Suites at the Strat are great- I recommend the star suite which you need to call to book. Large, with a seating area and massive bathroom. There are pictures available on oyster.

If you are a gamer, ace|play comps are very good as well.

As you mentioned to disregard the location, I would opt for the bigger room at the Stratosphere. Then again I like to try new places.

How many beds/bedrooms are in a suite at the Strat? Since my brother is joining me next month and we switched to the Strat, I am thinking the $20 trick might get me into a suite. But only if there are two beds, not shacking up with my brother

A suite with two beds is rare. Very rare. Make sure that is what you are getting.

As to the original question - as said, it is answered. Personally I would never do Strat as we like to get out and walk to other places. And eat/drink at MGM joints since we can pay with ECs.

Kind of what I was thinking, why I asked. Only one on that list has two beds listed, so I can almost kiss that good bye

Star suites and king suites do have a pull out sofa bed though. Personally I would go for two separate rooms though.

The Strat....sometimes it IS all about the room. (Try to convince my husband of that!)

My only question would be if its all about the room, you have a car, and don't care about location, why does it have to be the strip at all?

I'm currently looking at off-strip alternatives.

Do you know of any reasonable prices spa suites in line with the strat oasis suite?

Why not the Rio? Big rooms and inexpensive.

This. Also, the Rio has no resort fees.

The Strat is a great place, nothing wrong there.
