    Hi All,

Where on the strip can you find $5 blackjack during the day? Also, which casino would be a good place for a beginner craps player to start?

    Thanks

Go to Osheas, Casino Royale, Excaliber (maybe). For $5 BJ and craps, go to downtown Vegas. There is plenty there. The nice resorts tend to not have $5 hands especially during the weekends and busy hours.

Maybe, depends on what time of day/week. If you do find a $5 table, it will most likely be packed. Good luck!

You could take a shuttle from the strip to an off-strip property like Orleans ( free shuttle from BIll's) to get in some $5 bj.

Yeah, $5 BJ is a bit elusive ON the strip. I'd try Bills, Imperial Palace, Circus Circus, Sahara. As someone else noted, the $5 tables, when open, are pretty crowded.

If you can leave the strip it'll be more accessible. My favorite place to play low-limit games now is JOKERS WILD. $1 craps. 25 cent roulette. $2 blackjack.

Rule out Sahara. They closed in May 2011.

Excalibur has $5 craps and a few $5 blackjack tables and is newbie-friendly.

On the other hand, it smells like a butt.

Just thought of another option: a number of Strip hotels have the machines with the animated dealers. BlackJack is one of the options and bet min is usually set to $3. I know I have seen them at caesars and casino royale. The rules are not as good as some real table games, but it might be a good place to learn.

Excalibur on the strip. NYNY during the week has a lot of $5. Monte Carlo in the morning during the week, if it's slow has $5...and very early on Saturday/Sunday (like before 9 AM). All three of those also have $5 craps.

Beginner craps...any table anywhere in the morning when it's not too crowded. Just step up to a table that is half full or less.

Many properties have craps lessons in the mornings -- call and ask. At Monte Carlo my last trip I watched them do a craps class, then they opened a $5 table specifically for those who just learned (I was at the next table, which was $10.)

I would heavily recommend the lessons in the morning. They're free, and a lot of times come with a small amount of Free Play. My buddy and I did this at Luxor our first trip to Vegas since he never had any experience playing. The dealer did a great job of explaining that those pieces of colored clay represented the casino's money, not the dealer's and to not feel bad or weird about asking the dealers questions.

Bill's Gamblin Hall usually has $5 craps (at least during the day I think). I always end up playing there at somepoint!
    Worth checking there for it.

    Thanks a lot gang.

I'm staying at NYNY so it loks like its own casino plus Excaliber will be good choices. I'll be on East coast time, so being at the casino at 5-8 AM wll be no problem, hopefully I can get at some $5 tables.

I downloaded an app to teach me craps, so i'm starting to realize its really not that hard once you ignore all the bad bets that have huge house advantage, and just play Come with max odds, and a bit in the field!!

NYNY will have $5 craps at those hours. Especially during the week. If not, it's a short walk to Excal. And if for some unforseen reason the apocolypse comes and you can't get $5 craps there, walk over to Tropicana or Hooters, which are also very close.

As a newbie we have been playing BJ on the animated dealer machines.. found 1 in Caesars and 1 in Monte Carlo. Both $5 min. Love - love the one in Monte Carlo! Played on it for hours when there over labor day. Its a great way to learn, get some practice in on some basic strategy. ( asked for it in Bellagio, harrahs, flamingo, ballys, casino royale, bills and was told they all removed them)
Monte Carlo also does the craps classes, 10am daily? I think.
    Good Luck!
