We've switched hotels for our stay next week to the Golden Nugget. I've always wanted to stay there, but just never happened.

We do have a room booked in the Carson Tower. What can I expect? Is it really that bad to stay in the Carson Tower? What are the chances of getting a complimentary upgrade? I'm familiar with the Landry Card deal, however we would not get it in time for our trip.

Thanks to everyone. You guys are always so helpful!

I have stayed in all rooms except the SPA suites. They are all fine. I like the Carson best for the price and it is convinent to self parking. I always try for an upgrade with a $20.00. Sometimes it works.

The Carson Tower has always been clean, bathrooms a little small but usuable with make-up mirror outside the bathroom. Sometimes you get a view sometimes not.

Just tell them it is your anniversary and at least ask for a view room.

I won't pay for an upgrade to the North (Gold Tower) unless it is a Gold Club room. The only thing you get in the Gold Tower is being a little closer to the casino. SAve your money for a memorable anniversary dinner.

Big (by standard room, um, standards), somewhat dated rooms, but nice and a good value. That Tower is a bit of a hike to the casino, but as mentioned, it is close to the self park garage.

I have stayed in both Carson and North towers many times. Standard rooms are very similar in both. They are nice clean rooms and for the price they are worth the short scenic walk past the pool to the casino.

    Great Golden Nugget Rate Today

I saw on a bargain site that Bookit.com is offering a special GN rate through midnight tonight, and it is indeed much better than anything I could find elsewhere. I just rebooked my November reservation through them. Saved $55 for four nights over the best deal I'd found over the past couple of months (a promo direct from GN). The booking includes the coupon book also, which the GN doesn't appear to be offering currently on many of their promos. If you do it, use this promo code to cut another $15 off the price: BKTSUB15. Only downside is that Bookit.com charges $20 if you change or cancel your reservation.

I recall the room being fairly good size, comfortable bed overall a good value for the price. If anything furnishings where a bit dated, but that was the only negative.

As for distance to the elevators from the casino, compared to other properties downtown this may be true, but in comparison to strip properties, it is an quick walk.

Just stayed there last month and I'll be there in another basic Carson tower room in 4 weeks. Nice room, clean, large flat screen TV, comfy bed, and an awesome A/C unit!

No need for an upgrade, only there to sleep and shower, so I can't tell you about any other room. But it is perfect for my needs. :drunk:

Just stayed in a Carson room Sept 14-18. Just as described by Smo! We love those rooms--and they are sooooo quiet.

    Another "ditto" from me.

Only one problem - probably my eternal "downtown dilema":

When I'm in a Carson Tower room at Golden Nugget I think, "Wow! These roooms are nice! I want to stay here every trip!"

Then, after making the three block walk from Fremont Street to my room numerous times, I think, "Maybe I'll book somewhere else next time."

Next trip, I'm in the north tower of the Four Queens and I think, "Wow! Only ten steps to Fremont Street! I want to stay here every trip!"

Then, after remembering the nice, spacious, quiet rooms at GN, I think, "Maybe I'll book at the Golden Nugget next time."

    Rinse and repeat!!

Does anybody else suffer from this disorder besides me??

Thanks everyone for the great input. Sounds like it'll be a great place to stay. We will have a rental car so the close proximity to the garage is a plus.

Now if Sunday would just get here!

    Thanks again.

Nope, I have almost the same disorder. Except I dont find the rooms at the GN any different than the ones at the 4Q's (South Tower), and definately not different enough to justify the increased price and the 3 block walk. I have never been put in the 4Q's North tower except for the single time I requested it just to see what it was like. Every other time I have requested the South tower and have been given it. I do like the location of GN, but once I am outside, I dont care how far I have to walk usually.

Rush Tower!! You won't be disappointed. You should be under $100 for one night and their basic room is nice. They also have a separate entrance and check in desk, so you feel a little special.
