"girly stuff" to do downtown?

My buddies and I will be downtown on a Monday this December, and my fiancé and her friends are wanting something girly to do while the guys eat steaks and watch football. I suggested the Beauty Bar because I thought they did a martinis and manicures deal. Turns out I'm probably wrong about that, but I can't get a straight answer anywhere.

Has anyone been there who can tell me? Also, would this place be good for a girls night out? This group of girls are low-drama, pretty easygoing and a lot of fun... They're not "whoo-girls." they like cheap drinks, people watching, good stories, and karaoke (which I know happens every Monday at beauty bar!)

Any tips are appreciated... This'll be my fifth Vegas trip, but first time downtown!

 

Beauty Bar would be interesting for your group to just stop in to see, then go to The Griffin for a fun beer. For mixed drinks, downtown, try Downtown Cocktail Room at 111 Las Vegas Blvd. S. Don't Tell Mama is your best bet for good entertainment outside of the casinos.

There are a couple of happy hours downtown starting from 4pm on a football night Monday. Mickie Finnz has discounted fruity drinks and food from 4-7 with an atmosphere I'd call "tiki light." If it's warm enough you can sit outside under the tiki torches and people watch.

From 5-8 the signature cocktails at Downtown Cocktail Lounge are $7 each. There is lots of comfortable lounge seating and it's easy to find a spot for your group.

After that, I second xmarkx's recommendation of Don't Tell Mama. The music is far more varied than your average piano bar, and the performers are far more talented than at the average karaoke bar. There's one piano and both staff and patrons get up to perform. I've been to the Beauty Bar a few times and I like it as a great place to hang out and enjoy a few drinks. Yes, they would probably have a great time there, but I would suggest kind of hopping to the other bars in the area as well.

I've never seen or heard of any salon services of any type in there. It's not really a ladies bar either. I guess it's very close to 50/50 men to women in there. I know the hair dryers by the seats up front are obviously fake.

It's kind of a dive bar (but a nice dive bar) in a retro beauty shop motif.

 

Just remembered, El Cortez has a free Elvis impersonator show. The lounge is nice, comfortable and super laid back. Typical low budget Elvis show, one guy with recorded music on the dance floor. Very fun for a group wanting to say "we saw an Elvis show." Have a drink, or two, and move across the street to the other places.

 

We would second this! My husband and I went last week, and had a great time! Its actually a fun bar.... We went on a Wednesday night so it wasnt crowded at all.... But just enough to have fun.
Husband even appreciated the bar and what they are trying to accomplish there.

So what are they really trying to accomplish there? Is it really supposed to be a gay bar/club or are they going more for the open-minded tourist/visitor trade?

It will be interesting to see what happens when Krave moves in there. I'm glad to see that Neonopolis complex finally get some use!

 

They might enjoy Gold Diggers or grabbing a cocktail and watching some of the bands that play on the Fremont stages.

 

why not drop them off at the fashion show mall ??? plenty of stuff to do haha

 

New life into Neonoplis. I even had to ask him what he meant by that and he said new life into a huge part of downtown. I totally took it the wrong way when he said it and I probably shouldnt have used that terminology knowing how I took it... Sorry.

I will say the night I was there, there was some of the LGBT Community there, but there were also a lot of us tourists. (Us included)

Last time I was in it, it was a ghost town. The signs were cool, but that was about it. Even the (open) Italian restaurant appeared to be empty.

 

If you want to be a party girly, Hogs & Heifers is the place to go, you will hardly have to buy a drink.

 

I was also going to suggest Hogs and heifers. It's about one block off Fremont Street-easy walking-and they will have a riot. It's a regular bar with awesome bartenders-all women-that encourage any female to get up on the bar and dance. What women doesn't want to say she danced on the bar in Vegas? Last time we were there, it was about 30 minutes before they got the crowd going and getting people up to dance, but beleive me they will have fun. Have them ask any security person on Fremont Street how to get there and they will have no problem. The first time I went-60 year old female- I was kind of scared because the door people are all big bikers. When I asked them if it was a safe place to be they said "Maam we will take care of you". I go everytime I'm in Vegas. Oct.15-19
