We're downtown people but since CET sent me an offer for two free nights, we decided to double book and spend one night on the Strip.

Given the choice of Flamingo or Harrah's for a Monday night, which would you choose?

Sounds like the Carnival Court gets loud and stays that way well into the am hours.

Food isn't a factor. We're planning on breakfast downtown, then Mon Ami Gabi for a late lunch and probably a midnight snack somewhere.

We rarely go to the Strip and we're just planning on quick in/outs at various casinos for some gambling hits and then walking around at night looking like the rest of the tourists.:wink2:

I would choose the Flamingo, mainly for its ease to get to and from room and get to the strip. Harrah's rooms may be just slightly nicer because of the less funky decor, but they were both clean and comfortable during my stays. I really like the Flamingo, its really easy to move about it and the staff has always been friendly. Harrah's tried to bang me for the $30 early check in fee in mid-dec when the place was dead and I was on a COMP stay.
Flamingo just gave me early check in Labor Day Weekend and said because I was a TR member and on a COMP stay there is no fee.

id throw my vote to Flamingo. Harrahs is awesome up front near the entrance but step a few feet away from the slushie bar and its kinda rundown...

i love the flamingo. Never stayed but i do alot of gambling there and the entire casino looks nice. Not to expensive either. prime location too

I'd say Flamingo since it's closer to Paris. If you are going to walk.

Flamingo isn't bad, both are similar to me.. if it's a GO room go with Flamingo.

The parking isn't too far.. it's actually about the same at both properties.

Chalk up another vote for the Flamingo, fun place to play, easy access to the strip, I've never had had a problem with the parking there myself and that includes holiday weekends. I've read on here where some say it's always full(etc) but I always wonder if that means there is nothing close to the parking elevator to get to the casino. Like I said, I've never had a problem there, never had to park in the back 40, and to me it's one of the easiest to get in and out of but that could be because I'm familiar with it.

OK, based on the posts, we decided on Flamingo for our 1 night stay.

One question: Where do you enter the parking facility? Maps look like Koval Ln to Ida which turns into Audrie St. and then some unlabeled drive. Is that correct?

In May, you had to go Koval, Flamingo, Audrie and then into the parking garage. This was due to the IP/Quad construction. I'm sure someone will tell you the best way from more recent experience.

Sorry to hijack, but I will.

What if we added Bally's to the conversation. Where you would you stay? Bally's, Harrah's or Flamingo?

Bally's wasn't a free option. On the night in question our offer there was $29 per night. They did have other freebees, but nothing that matched our schedule.

Definitely give the $20 trick a try.
Last time I stayed at the Flamingo for 1 night, I got put in a GO room thanks to the 'trick'.
Seems to have much more success when its only for one night, especially if its a weeknight!

I meant, if you had the choice of Bally's, Flamingo, Harrah's, what order would you put them in.

As I stated, I am hijacking the thread a bit instead of making a new on since I have these 3 options.

It seems like most are ranking as follows:

    1). Bally's
    2). Flamingo
    3). Harrah's

Can anyone provide some advice please?

    Thanks

Pretty much a toss up. Part of decision would depend on where you tend to play, eat, go out. Not a long distance between them, but if you spend more time up near V/P, then Harrahs. If heading to City Center, etc, then Ballys.

Ballys is probably a bit cleaner and less crowded, but still basic rooms.

I would try Bally's North tower, if you do not like that choice, I would go for Flamingo. The Harrah's rooms are too small for me.

Is it true that all rooms have been renevated at Flamingo? I spoke with someone there yesterday, and that is what they told me.

Yes & No - I say that because the FAB rooms that were done were 'refreshed' vs a total remodel. The bathrooms were not redone. They would basically be comparable to an old Holiday Inn bathroom. I get comped for GO, but wouldn't have a problem in a FAB room either.

I think there are a FEW rooms left that were never redone but all of those are pet-stay rooms from what I could tell - those may even have been done by now.

Joe - I often go in from the back if it isn't blocked, however, you can also access from the strip between Bills & Flamingo - biggest issue is the pedestrian traffic you have to avoid running over. Drive down the drive, go past the taxi area & continue back to where you loop around to valet - if you want to self-park the entry is just ahead on your right. I actually like the strip entry just so I don't have to manuever thru from the back. But use them about 50/50. If valet is available I always use that.
