Wondering if I should bring some or wait if they are cheaper there. we have high cig taxes here so my smokes are one of the most expensive at give or take a few cents, they are 10 bucks a pack. What price range are cigs in LV?
Cigs in Vegas are cheaper than that. I would take a guess that current prices are around $5 - $6.50 / pack... Geeze where are you that they are $10 / pack?
They are only cheaper if you go to like a Walgreens or something like that. If you are lazy like we were and buy them in the casinos, you will be paying $10 a pack. I got a 15% discount because I'm Mlife platinum, and I think even with that I was paying $8.96 a pack.
Do you gamble? You can get them comp’d…depending on how much you play, of course. I can’t help with non-casino prices (too lazy). But, I’ve paid between $8-11 at casino gift shops etc.
If cigs are $10 a pack by you, you prob will be filling that suitcase for the trip home . You can get them most anywhere for 5-$6.
And how exactly does one go about getting them comped. I remember the old days, when they were comped, but haven't seen that in quite a while.
I’ve never done it while on the machines…though I assume there has to be a way. But, at the tables, just ask the pit boss if you can get a pack. If he gives you the go ahead, just order them from the cocktail waitress (or “cigarette girl” if the casino still has them). She’ll bring you the smokes and the pit boss will sign for them…or something to that effect anyway. (Obviously, I don’t have to tell you, JosieCat, but for newcomers – don’t forget to tip her!) If you play in certain pits – the ones with the high minimum tables ($50-100+) - or the HL room you often don’t even have to ask the pit boss. Just order them from the waitress and she’ll take care of it with the pit boss.
They are about $12 a pack in New York City. A wholesale case of thirty cartons, about 24" x 15" x 15" is worth over $3,000. I think it's worse in Canada.
The Paiute Indians have a store downtown on Main Street and our smoker friends thought there were some real bargains there. An example-Marlboro for $43.89 and no taxes. Just a word of caution, I'd feel comfortable walking there during the day, but absolutely don't do it at night unless you have a group of people. http://www.lvpaiutesmokeshop.com/splash.html
"The Paiute Indians have a store downtown on Main Street and our smoker friends thought there were some real bargains there." It's about 1 mile north of Main Street Station along Main Street. Easy walk in the morning. I used to go there about 3 years ago for generic brands of cigarettes. Bought a carton each of generic menthol's. Prices ranged from $9 to $14 a carton. Next trip I paid $13/carton (10 cartons) for Cheyenne's which were my pick of the bunch and are about equal to my normal brand at home.
Taxachussettes!! when I started smoking these Capri cigs they were generic and cheap, now the are the most expensive! WTH!!
Gold Spike was advertising them for $5 a pack a couple of months ago, I see now that they are $5.50. Not sure what brands they had. http://www.goldspike.com/media/images/GS_cig_680.jpg
The OP asked a legitimate question, not whether or not they should smoke. Let's try to keep this thread on topic.
jesus 12$ a pack ? i remember when they were .45 cents and i aint that old ...... i havent smoked in 15 yrs but i gotta tell ya 8-10 a pack would make me quit
I paid 8.50 at casino royale in the vending machine, and 9.50 at the gift shop in ballys. I think walgreens or abc might be cheaper, but we used points at the gift shop. I was drunk and had a lot of change at casino royale when I wanted a pack.
