So this will be my first trip where I try roulette and I have been doing a lot of reading online and I want to clarify a betting question. Lets assume a table with a $10 min with $1 chips.

I understand outside best (even/odd - red/black) must meet the table minimum so 10 $1 chips. Is this $10 per spot I am betting or can I go $5 odd $5 black

I also understand that if I am only betting inside bets I can spread my 10 $1 chips around as I please.

If I am both betting inside and outside can I bet my $10 outside and only $2-$3 inside or do I need to bet a full $10 inside as well?

IIRC, 5 odd/5 black is ok. But the inside has to be the full 10 as well, scattered as you will.

Yes, your right. You cannot have $10 on black/red and only 3 dollars on numbers.

Generally your outside bets have to be $10 per spot, $10 red, $10 odd.

Some places will let you bet $10 outside and a few dollars inside, but most will require $10 inside as well. However this will only be an issue if you win and somebody notices. If you lose they will still take your 2 to 3 chips without any issues.

This seems like false advertising to me $10 minimum is $10 minimum. I can't imagine if you have 10 on black and they make you bet 10 more inside if you decide to. I would think as long as you have your 10 on black you should be fine.

But it wouldn't surprise me I guess. Just seems wrong. I only play specific numbers do its never been an issue. I think one or 2 times though I only had $8 or 9 out and they didn't say anything.

that's not really false advertising as these are individual bets. just like at 3CP or LIR where there's multiple bets you can make on each hand, each one still has to be at least the table minimum. the fact that they let you spread the minimum around the inside and it's not per spot inside as well is an upgrade over other games.

Inside bets, the cumulative of all inside bets usually has to be over the table minimum - if the table minimum is $100, if you laid 4 $25 chips on 4 different inside bets that will count as hitting the inside minimum.

I never make outside bets, but I'm pretty sure if the outside minimum was $10, two outside $5 bets would be counted together as hitting the minimum as well.

If your by yourself, can you lay chips of various amounts? Black $100 chips on an outside bets and four or more $25 green on the inside? I know they won't let two players bet the same valued casino chips at the same table. You have to buy separate colors. But what if your the only player?

Here's the deal. I play roulette, a lot. It's my game of choice.

Your bets have to meet the table limit.
Insides bets have to be at least $10 on a $10 table.

Each outside bet has to be equal to or above the table limit. No $5 and $5 split. If you want black and odd it's at least $20 on a $10 table.

If you're only playing outside bets, they will give you $10 chips. If you play inside, it will probably be $1.

I love the game and suck at it, but the tables are always fun.

Earth, they will give you colored chips that you get to call the denomination on. So if you want $25 chips, that's what they will be worth. You just stack 4 on your outside bets and spread 4 in the center for $100 table.

Actually, in HL I use regular chips all the time. If you're first, by yourself, have one person playing inside & one person playing outside, or even two people playing inside but betting different numbers, they will usually let everyone use regular chips. There's usually a high enough ratio of staff to players in HL that they usually manage to keep track of who bet what on what even if two or three people are playing with regular chips.

At the most, they might ask that one player play blacks and the other play purples or yellows, etc. before they'll make anyone buy in the roulette chips - I think maybe because it makes it easier for them to pay out in real chips vs. roulette chips when someone is hitting big in HL.

Of course, I almost always play on slow weekday nights when it's very rare to have a crowd at an HL wheel - maybe during weekends or fight nights when it's crowded they make people play with the roulette chips - but personally, I can't even remember the last time I played with anything but regular chips in HL, or even saw anyone else play with anything but them either - it's been at least several years.
