switch from Mirage to Cosmo?

I just got an offer yesterday for two comped nights, some meager free play and free buffets from Cosmo. The first two nights of our upcoming trip we are staying at Mirage. We used to stay there exclusively until our host retired. We have been loyal to CET since then, but are looking to make the move back to Mirage. We love the Mirage, the casino, the restaurants, the pool etc.

We have never stayed at Cosmo. I have received offers from them in the past and when tried to redeem it was a cluster, so just wondering if there is anything beneficial to staying there besides saying we have, lol. I keep reading the place is dead in regards to gambling. I've been there several times and it has been quiet, so just wondering if that is still the case.

My two cents on Cosmo: the rooms are much ncier than Mirage. I have stayed in the terrace suite, not the studio, and the room really blew me away. If you stay, get a blacony with a view of the fountains. It really is impressive. Haven't eaten much there, so can't really comment on the food. During the day, ythe casino is SLOW. But the action does pick up at night significantly. Alll depends on what kind of casino atmosphere you are looking for. Cosmo is definitely party central. The craps tables are next to the escalator that connects to the club level, so all night you see the party people coming and going. Definitely not the worst view you could have while playing craps, but the party people can get a bit loud at times

 

I actually just did exactly this: stayed two nights at the Mirage, then the next four nights at the Cosmo.

I'm a 24 y/o, so the Cosmo is suited a little more to my age-group. I really do love the Cosmo HOTEL. Nice rooms. Beautiful views from the balcony. The casino is just okay for me. It's nice, and the drinks are the best on the strip, but it is slow during the day, and when it picks up at night the table minimums shoot up quickly.

 

Just curious, how many points have you earned to receive this? I have thought about giving them some play, but wasn't sure if comps were attainable at my level of play.

 

I honestly don't know how many points I have gotten. I have played there several times, but really no great length or money. I was Diamond however when I signed up for the card, so I just wondering if it is a total marketing tool. STILL trying to make the decision.

 

This might be the same sort of teaser offer I got from them. I played about 5 hours of craps about a year ago, rated at $100, and a month or two later I got an offer for a couple comp nights. However, that 5 hours at $100 only got me about 1300 points, which is practically nothing considering you need 20,000 to get to the gold tier. Their players club currently gives you 1 point per $20 wagered, which strikes me as incredibly low.

 

I haven't stayed there, but I've enjoyed a few of their restaurants Holsteins and Comme Ca, and secret pizza! Loved them all. Also I think their pool is super cool looking, if I was a swimmer, I'd wanna do it there. I've enjoyed a drink in the Chandelier. But, it seems to me, it's kinda dead in there unless you are going to Marquee. Never seems to be a lot of people gambling or shopping.

Honestly, I wouldn't pass up Cosmo if it was offered to me! But, like said above, I'm younger... it's kind of odd, because it's SO pricey to do anything there. Also to me, it's the most pretentious place in Vegas, and reminds me of here in LA.

I would definitely stay at the Cosmo. My Wife and I stayed there for 3 nights a couple months after it opened and the room was amazing not to mention our fountain view. Wicked Spoon is the best buffet in vegas and I would highly suggest the lunch special at MIlos. The casino may be slow during the day but the location is perfect and you can easily just go next door to the B, PH, or MC if you are lookign for more people. This would be a no brainer for me. Unless you are old and crusty or don't like happenin atmospheres you will love cosmo

 

Stay there to experience the hotel. Play as you wish. You do have Bellagio and Aria right next door, so you can play there and build your MGM points. Or, if you still like CET, go across street to Paris or P-Ho

 

If the room means a lot to you than Cosmo is a good choice. I personally prefer a better casino atmosphere vs a nicer room (I am one of those people that just need a place to sleep about 4 hours, shower, then get back to gambling). I really like the Mirage casino - even after they took all the theme out of it.
